As soon as I saw the new look, I literally said "whoa!" out loud. I didn't even need to put effort towards it or anything, my visual receptors just took over of my auditory channel and made me say it. Needless to say, it's beautiful. I am in love.

I guess Stardock's policy of no CP is actually giving them more sales. Way to go, guys. You set an example for the rest of the gaming industry. Seriously.
Conquest is fun, but trade, diplomacy, and research are much more rewarding, in my opinion. Sure, wiping out a few civilizations takes skill, but it takes even more skill to be a friend than to be an enemy.
Or, you can use any other IRC client you have (mIRC, XChat, and Gaim, to name a few). Simply use this line to connect to the Stardock IRC server: /server irc.stardock.com /join #GalCiv You don't need SDC to connect to Stardock's IRC server, it just gives you some buttons to click instead of typing a few lines.
The thing that gets me is the use of the word "scandal."
A 3D galaxy would be so awesome, but it would have to wait until we get holographs. That's when 3D will truly become important.
Want to break your alliance with a minor race? Easy, blow there ships/bases into space dust, then invade there homeworld with your shock troops. That will teach them... Can't do that if you have an alliance set.
Anyone who links to EBaum's world steals $5 from every person whose work has been "featured" on the blasted waste of magnetic bits somewhere on a server. And I was expecting this to be a discussion on exactly why the Thalans don't like the Terrans.
I always wondered about the misplaced hardpoints. Drives me nuts when I actually try to design a ship.
These never get old.
I have a small problem with giving all of the alien races Terran theme music. Anyways, Frank Zappa - Eddie, Are You Kidding? for the Korx. And the song that plays in the Cantina in Star Wars (you know, with all the cool aliens?) for the Torians. It just fits them.
We already have ways of removing excess waste from our ships. Ever seen Apollo 13?
The Korx get stepped on not because they're evil, but because they're stupid.
Let's throw in a whole bunch of things that would radically change the gameplay of GalCiv 2 and essentally create a GalCiv 3 using the GalCiv 2 engine.
I'd have to talk with my parents, but I'd most certainly would. I have the money.
I am in total love. If I had a credit card, i'd preorder right now .
You mean the number of parsecs/sector? Off the top of my head, I think it's 10x10, making 100 total parsecs. I'll check next time I play for you.
I really hope that the expansion will be available upon delivery, for those with slow connections (like me). I simply can't download an entire expansion pack over my 56k, and I would love to have a physical copy of the CD. I hope that's not too much to ask.
Well, what do you want? The Terrans basically come up with whatever we call the alien races. The Altarians are named so because their home planet orbits the star Altaris, which was discovered prior to the discovery of the Altarians. The Altarians probably have their own name for their star, for our star, and so on.
There's an option somewhere that controls whether or not upgrading ships strips them of their original config. just open up the options menu and hunt around Interface > Ship Designer > Remove all functional components when upgrading (or something to that effect) Uncheck that. GC
I don't see what the fuss is. Even if you're completely ignorant about the field of physics, it's obvious that you need a more powerful (and thus larger) engine to push a larger amount of mass the same distance at the same speed as a smaller amount of mass. And technically, space is not a "perfect vacuum." There's all kinds of space dust and free ions and such floating about. Space is not a void, it's simply under extremely low pressure. While there is barely any friction, friction st
The research effects box on the upper-right in the Research screen tells you what ships are unlocked with certain techs (provided you have all of the other techs to build the ship). Of course, you can always build a custom ship with a survey module once you research the first sensor tech, and avoid having to unlock all of the others. GCII Fanboy
So does mine. I can't for the life of me understand that quote above. It's almost... nonexistant! GCII Fanboy
Maybe he typoed 1.2 and put down 1.1. Anyways, to answer your question, No Tech Trading and No Minor Races can be found on the first screen of a new game (where you select the galaxy size, adundance of planets/stars/anomalies, etc.). GCII Fanboy
What are you talking about, Dark? My serial number is on the back of my GalCiv II CD case. Maybe you have the european version? GCII Fanboy
