When you win a Tech Victory they say you turn into a being of pure energy. Spoiler. Which kinda sucks because my custom race, the Shikadi, are already a race of beings of pure energy.

I'm not sure if this was stated before, but cheats are put in by developers so that they are readily available to test certain conditions quickly and easily. For example, if you wanted to fix a bug that happens during technology victories, it's much easier to cheat up to the point where the bug happens than play a whole game through. The cheats are left in so that A) developers and modders can fix bugs after the game is released, and B) cheats can let people ruin the games for themsel
I agree with MD. Build queues would be fantastic. Every strategy game I've played has them, except GalCiv 2. Would be really nifty for planning. Of course, you could have an "infinite build" option at the end of the queue, so that if the last ship in the queue is a colony ship, it'll just keep building those. Also, if you turn off automatic ship building, you should get a prompt that asks you what you want to build next, like Civ 4.
Oh, cool. I didn't know that. Thanks.
I'd love to play more metaverse games, but I cannot because it requires Internet access throughout the entire game, which is very hard for me because of my Dial-up connection. A neat feature for Dial-up users would be to have "offline metaverse games." You can play these all the way through offline, and when the game is finished, the results are saved for future uploading next time you connect to the metaverse. Or, you could start playing the game online, save the game, get offline, a
I have a whole list written out. Depends on the hull class, and the weapon base (that is, the weapon type I use most on the ship): Tiny: Beam: B-Class Javelin Mass Driver: D-Class Javelin (D is for Mass D river) Missle: M-Class Javelin Small: Beam: B-Class Cavalry Mass Driver: D-Class Cavalry Missle: M-Class Cavalry Medium: Beam: B-Class General Mass Driver: D-Class General Missle: Chupacabra
Could rotating ship parts be a new feature in the next patch? =D
How do you pronounce the names of the races? Here's how I pronounce the more complex ones: Altarian: Al-tear(as in a piece of paper)-ian Korx: Corks (Or is the X silent, like "core"? Can someone clarify?) Torian: Tore-ian Yor: Yore (rhymes with Lore) Arcean: Arr-Kay-An (Or is it Ar-See-An?) Drath: Gir-affth (Like giraffe, but with a th sound at the end instead of an f sound)
Txtspeak in text messaging is forgivable. Txtspeak on a computer with a full-sized keyboard, full-sized writing space, and as much time as you need is not.
This should be required reading for all modders. Naming conventions, especially for a sizable modding community such as the one here, just make sense. This begs to be stickied.
If I want an empire builder I would play Civ4.If I want real time battles I will be playing MedievelTotalWar2.If I want a 4x game I will be playing the GC2 expansion. Spore seems a gimmick with many parts, that are all very lightweight. Never say that again. As Aristotle said, "The whole is more than the sum of its parts." Spore wil
I'd like to see gaseous life forms, like N-1 of the Yor mentions sometimes in the trade window. And a race of beings made of energy patterns, like the Shikadi from the Commander Keen series (in fact, my custom race is the Shikadi). And really small advanced civilizations (not necessarily microscopic, but around 18 inches, like a barbie doll) would be cool. We need more diversity in the galaxy. To paraphrase N-1, every sapient life form (except for the Yor, and Dark Yor if you count mi

I don't think respawning anomalies, more ship parts, and new, more interesting star systems require an expansion pack. Star systems, maybe; I'd love to see some binary stars (binary stars, or stars that orbit around each other, like a pair of dancers, are actually more common than lone stars, like our own Sol), and I would understand if that would take some extra coding. Respawning anomalies need to come in. Or, not necessarily respawn like ammo does in an FPS (same object in the same
I forget how it goes exactly, but here's the gist. "Oh yeah, very clever. Stacking up troop transports near my home planet for a surprise attack. You're the kind of people who pull this kind of thing off in video games. Then you complain to the developers that the "AI" is "too easy" and that "multiplayer" is a needed "feature"." ~ Lord Kona, Galactic Civilizations 2 I meant to get a screen capture of it, but I lost it.
I can't find the v1.2 beta download. I already bought the game around a week or so ago. Why can't I find the download? Am I just totally overlooking something?
Assuming the Earth model stayed the same size, the Sun is still far too small. Did you mod that?
How about we have "markers" that can be placed like rally points, but are used for marking the locations of things, like anomalies and planets you want to go after.
This would qualify as rude Why? Because people don't have the patience to read poor writing? Anyways, I think it's a neat idea, but it should be a bit common in anomalies. A free non-reachable tech can be pretty cool.
From what I understand, having a creative bonus lets you discover new technologies out of the blue more often (e.g. getting Smart Chaff after researching Chaff).
Personally, I favor Neutral. Tech bonuses can help you pick and choose what advantages you want from both sides (working on better diplomacy, for instance, or focusng on weaponry). I always choose Neutral for any desicions.
I think this is a great idea. Although, you might be able to combine the military and political borders.
Ok, thanks.
Hey guys, I have a question about capital improvements. Say you have a tile with artifacts on it (+100% research). If you build a Technological Capital on that tile, does the effect of the Technological Capital suddenly become +200%, or does it stay +100%? Thanks.
