No, but with a few more inane comments like that, we'll start calling you a troll. Inane? Do you realise Inane means Silly, absurd, ridiculous, idiotic, stupid, frivolous, immature, childish That's quite a strong an un called for insult. Who's really the 'troll' here?

One thing I find strange, though. In one of my recent games, the only farm on the planet was upgrading to a Shrinker. There were still a few open tiles left to build on, so I don't understand why a farm should be converting to a Shrinker. I think it speeds production to build over somthing?
The reasons for are so small against the reasons against that we barely give it any thought Guess what... there is already a 'defacto' multiplayer. You start a game and then after a few turns, use the cheat codes and take over one of the AI players. Your freind can then run this empire. The drawback is that you have to share one com
There is only limited space on a hull. that means, if you put on of the first missles on a tiny hull there won't be enoug space for anything else. There is a bar at the top of the screen that shows, how much space is used and left. Just to clarify... there is only limited space on a hull for active components. However you can put as many st
Hi I just had an idea for a good starship setup and i was wondering if it might work... Early in the game, using the cargo hull, pack lots of defence onto it to make it invunerable to an enemy. Even though it has only one HP, with high enough defence it should be effective right? I do have my doubts.... somehow weak ships do on rare occasions, manage to inflict one or two points of damage on my powerful ships when the maths says that should be impossible? Would th
3. Also, if I covertly give some of my warships over to another faction (say Altarian) to help in their war against a third faction (say Drengin), will that third faction see that I’d help their enemy by recognition of my transferred ships? Thus, jeopardizing my relations with that third (Drengin) faction. I'm not sure how indirectly clandestine such a handout is, or how k
It's not a bug--destabilization was removed from the game after the manual went to print (the manual has to be finalized while the game is still in beta, so things like that can happen unfortunately). Why did they remove the feature? As long as that horrendous 20b economic cap is around, players need things like this to waste money on! I
I have noticed that the AI does not tend to respond to an influence threat as effectively as it did in Galciv1. In all the planets that have turned themselves over to me so far, not one has had an influence structure built or under constructiuon(unlike Galciv1). However, The AI does tend to respond well with influence starbases (not that they position them very well tho).
That is a strange thing. Realistically, technology should increase influence. Take Japan for example... do you think their technology level reduces their influence on the world stage or increases it?
You should try adjusting your graphics accelleration first. Using the options in 'my computer' directory not graphics software, turn it down a notch and see what happens? If it works, then it is simple enough to turn it back up for other games.
The AI won't trade for lesser technology in addition to not researching lesser technology. Incorrect. The AI will not trade for lesser technology relating to ship components. All other technology, it will.
Even if this was the case... Call it what it is. A bug. Are we really going to start calling AI inefficiencies 'bugs' now?
The Yor have awesome minaturization, that could also explain it. i don't think the AI really uses all the available space on colony ships do they? so miniturisation should not be a factor.
No, it wouldn't. IIRC *all* the sounds are in the multimedia module--without it or the video module, the game is dead silent. Sorry, i thought i did not download the multimedia, but i must have and forgoten.
I don't believe it's hardware because I have no issue with all other games. I have all the hardware demanding 3D games and so far, none has given me any problem. i have never heard of software of any kind (except the OS of course) doing those kinds of things you describe to a system on their own without 'some' kind of hidden system prob
Ok now I feel stupid ... I notice that the multimedia files need to be downloaded seperately ... I'm betting this will get my sound going ... Your sound should still work regardless. Sometimes the sound dousn't work on my game too but usually if i restart my computer, that will fix it. Somones probably going to ask you to
I checked out the resource base maintenance from my last game. I had 30 bases of mostly resource and trade with a few influence units. Maintenance cost for every single one is an ABSOLUTE ZERO. Even if starbase maintenance is zero, that dousnt mean the AI is programed to take this into account. The AI might be programmed to dispand units to save
I'm not so sure this "AI Gifting Flaw" would really work. Wouldn't the AI just research the prerequisite by themselves? Since the initial Trade tech is of high value, I assume they would... The real danger comes from the AI having it traded to them from somone else. To make this trick work, you would somehow have to be able to develop advan
AI doesn't cheat though, not in that kind of way - above Tough it gets bonuses, but that would just give it more influence points, not change the rules. Ai dousnt cheat? yea sorry, im not quite used to this new concept of an AI that dousn't cheat! (i'm used to older style games).
They always pick a leader like that to front up to foreigners like yourself who carn't tell one drengin from another! hehehe
I haven't seen any gas planets techs...I WANT JUPITER IN MY COLLECTION! What are you going to build in a gas giant? Perhaps a giant dome that is light enough not to sink in and get crushed? Still, it's just a gigantic flying machine, may as well be a spaceship. Definately not a colony, colonisation not possible.
I've just started watching Andromeda actually. There is a new division of Telstra here in Australia doing CD hire, i noticed it in their online catalogue.... never even heard of it before that! We don't get Sci fi programs on free to air here in Australia (except sometimes late at night), barely even in the Video stores! I guess no one in Australia has any imagination... too busy watching stupid police, hospital and lowyer shows to leave room for anything else!
in the game i'm playing at the moment, i traded from the beginning with the Drengin. Eventually they conquored all the AI players then promptly declared war on me. Unfortunately for them it was a trap! the shok loss of income from my trade has resulted in them having no money to upgrade their ships to counter my ships. Both of us are now quite broke but my ships are wiping the flaw with them, using very high point defence against their missiles. They carnt touch me! Mwwwaaaahhh
I'm sure that in the earlier galciv11 they used ability points. I know this because the Yor transports at the start of the game are quite fast. Too fast for there to be any other explanation apart from ability points. Since updating however i havn't happened to see Yor transports early on yet, and i don't know of any other obvious signs to look for?
He's talking about ship defenses. And here i was thinking this thread was about starbase strategies.... silly me! Even ship defences fail to keep up with weaponry, but different to starbases, a player can change the defensive capability of ships to suit whats going on at the time.
