Unfortunately, that game had problems crashing every time I tried to save and it's gone now. I always keep at least 3 saves and rotate between them precisely because of what happened to you. That way, if one save gets destoyed, i have two backups. It is unfortunate that this kind of tedious saving is necissary, but to be honest, i

yea pirates are way overpowered. pirates should have the same ship strength as the strongest player when they arrive. as it is now its a game ender for me. I agree. Perhaps the invasion should have a condition that a certain level of technology is reached before it can take place?
easiest way to defend a starbase is to put a fleet of ships on it. Precisely! Ergo starbase defences are useless and a waste of code.
I don't think we would really want to try to be more realistic with population growth. If we did, then overpopulated unhappy planets with limited recources would experience population booms, while rich happy planets would experience population decreases!
Mystikmind, I don't think you are missing anything. The way I look at it, the listing includes all the things the AI is taking into account, but there is no weighting to it so you cannot tell how much each factor really matters. In my last few games, for instance, I have noticed several times that I had six 'plus' factors and one 'minus' factor, and yet the race was cool o
I heard that you need to play on 'tough' level to get the fairest balance. Levels above tough just give more recources but not more intelligence. Levels below tough actually inhibit AI intelligence as well as less recources
In my opinion, starbase defences fail to keep up with weapons technology quite dismally. I never bother installing starbase defences anymore. there is no reason to have wasted everyones time instituting starbase defences code into the game in the first place if this is the result! Solution... have defensive technology which becomes available when the weapons technology does. This would also create a new dynamic in the game which would put pressure on players to develop weapons
It's like playing Starcraft without Brood War...who does that? But that doesn't mean Starcraft is dead at all--same thing with GalCiv2. I remember starcraft, got a severe ass kicking trying to play that game, eventually i gave up and put it in the too hard box - the easy level must have been broken or somthing!! <TABLE cellpadding=8 wi
Play station game? Play stations and all the rest of those type of things i hate... their an excuse, a back door for companies to offload primative computers to everyone!
What makes a fun game for me is an AI opponent that keeps challenging me at every stage but without overshadowing me either. This is very difficult to achieve and i find myself quitting more games because i am too powerful rather than because the AI is too powerful. I am still searching for that one game where i can truelly slug it out against an equally determined AI. This is the holy grail of Galciv!
If your short of cash then you wouldn't want to build factories anyway! I always build stock markets on new planets and rush buy them whenever i can.
For instance,,repeatedly requesting 'gifts' will lower your relation,,while supplying ships to a civ at war or declaring war on a common enemy will raise your relations without showing up in the plus/minus stats. So how do i find out precisely what unlisted actions will influence attitude?
And we're back to my original point. Tiny or small maps i find are very unballanced already. You can either dominate to the extreme or be dominated. Either way, i never feel like continuing a game where that happens thus i never play small maps.
If you start looking at the roots,,there are (comperativly) very few words left that are "original" to the English language. Now,,spelling them consistently with rules common to the alphabetic ones (shouldn't that be 'alfabet' in that case? would solve the argument whether it's spelled "cheque" or "check". I have noticed that America
Bases don't have maintenance cost, do they? I thought they did, at least in Galciv1 they did, but do starbases have maintenance costs in Galciv2?
certainly tho i do build markets this way in useless planets one i have a nice green financial position.
You may as well have the planet build economic buildings. They have no maintenance requirement, increase your economy and use otherwise wasted production capacity. I'll often queue up 4 econ buildings and don't come back to build anything else until the planet is profitable. i used to do this before actually. But eventually i realised that
You need 2 kinds of fleets. You need a general fleet which consists of several large ships with mainly firepower but enough defence to ensure the smaller escort ships are always fired on first. This fleet can be used in all battles and will always take casualties. The second kind of fleet consists of all large ships with mainly one type of specialised defence and low firepower. Very good for picking off lone ships or weak fleets and does not typically take any casualties. This
Since I have a mod that doesn't allow me to play in the Metaverse, this is the point where I go, "I AM TEH WINNAR!" and start a new game or go to sleep cuz it's 5 in the morning and i have work in 4 hours. I rarely finish a game once the challenge is gone too. Infact i am usually dissapointed when my main enemy keels over. Typically this wou
yes it does, If the highlighted area paritally covers any square it recieves the bonus from the SB. There was a diagram posted a long while ago, by Mumblefratz, that showed the squared off version of the influence area. This is very nice to know, thanx
I'm testing a new strategy at the moment which seems to be working fine. At the begining of the game, i will colonise planets but not build anything at all. after i finish colonising, i will focus on trade untill my finances stop being so completely unreasonable. Only when finances are green do i even consider building on planets. At which point i start off by taking advantage of any tile bonuses. Planets without bonuses are not developed at all till later on. I t
As you can see from the image, there are no differences between the neutral and evil options. Also, the 1% gain seems rather infinitesimal. Yea this happens, sometimes neutral can even be better than evil - what's your point? Are you saying evil should always pay off more? and here i was thinking crime dousn't pay hehehehe
Sounds like your patch download is a bit corrupted. Try downloading the patch again
i would be too embarrassed and ashamed to be a grammer nazi. Because the english language frankly, is an insult to the concept of an 'alphabet'. why have an alphabet in the first place if 'official' spelling dissregards it. You may as well forget about teaching children the alphabet in the first place, just tell them that these things are no more than symbols which can represent any old thing at all. And please don't tell me it is because of all the foreign words incorporated
I saw a post just the other day on this one... i forget what was said but i'm sure it wouldn't be too far back for you to find?
