The 'find' key lies on occasion as well.

Phew, thats a relief to hear. These new asteroid features look like they will bring some new dynamics to the game, good or bad i cannot say?
IIRC tile bonuses were significantly reduced because of asteriod fields as well as power stations and other bonus producing additions to DA. So for unlucky players like myself, who always manage to fly our flagship exactly where there are no asteroids, this change is a disaster. If i could set asteroids to 'zero' i would happily do so. Luck
They have been made much rarer. Asteroids in particular make the manufacturing bonuses redundant since they serve a similar purpose (and they can be directed to any nearby planet, not just one like bonus tiles). AAAAGGGHHH that sounds terrible! Also asteroids are only for locating AI flagships and making contact, not for us to act
There are some good ideas in the posts here... i am suprised that no one suggests researching trade first up. All i do from day one of the game is research towards trade. I keep researching trade untill the whole branch is complete. There is no need to research the other techs these above posts talk about because you can swap the trade techs for them. However it may be prudent to research ion drive if your doing a big colonisation run.
Was ammusing when talking to them though-- they go into a spiel about how their race was advanced when mine was merely hunter-gatherers. No they weren't! You're MY race! Those are MY planets, darnit! They think that you are the new rebel force, and they are the legitimate continuation of your former empire.
That is my number one reason for playing in the Metaverse; knowing that my score will be added to my Metaverse record gives me the incentive to finish mopping up what's left of the AI factions. With a goal in sight, it doesn't seem so tedious. And, over time, seeing which strategies produce the highest scores and improving on them has made me a better player. </ta
Boy you guys are spoiled! I have 20 minute+ load times on every game I have ever played. General, spend good money on a computer so that I can just goof around on a game? My wife would have a good laugh about that one. Scincerely, Scintor Hint... computers are about the only thing a husband can spend money on without the wife ever
hey it actually worked, i overwhelmed the lousy humans with my influence and 2 planets in a star system i expanded my influence into defected to my side.... too bad a law was passed which limits evil civs to only 1 trade rout... guess what i AM evil and about 60& of my income was generated through trade.... im doomed That is why you should
Looks like the drivers did not actually get installed--the date is still the same as before. I know you like patch 1.2 over 1.3, but you should try with 1.4 for the bug fixes. Since it looks like you're not playing on the metaverse anymore, you can get the best of both worlds. Just make a backup copy of the data folder before you patch, then swap it back in a
Short answer. Turn button = green then good to go. Ahem... not in 1.4 The turn button going green can often be a deception. I don't know why, it just is.
Mine must have been a rhetorical question. Is that a 'rhetorical' cop out?? hehehe
I like to set myself up nicely before playing. I keep restarting the game till i get a starting point at the edge of the map and a factory bonus of at least 300 on Earth. Then i rush buy a factory on it and with careful manipulation of the economic slider bars i can usually build a colony ship every 2 or 3 turns without rush buying. Be warned, you really cannot rush buy colony ships in this latest version. You will go broke, that is assured.
Then why build the farm in the first place? Answer; see first half of my sentance I wouldn't think the AI has a very efficient priority system in place.
i think tech level is kinda ainfluential (it all depends on how you use it) if your tech leads to trade goods, then it should be influential via the trade good, however if your high tech leads to advanced weapons that make your neighbors twitchy it should be negatively influential via the weapons if that makes any sense (i'm taking your anaology of japan, who is inf
I forgot to mention... the AI is very good indeed. If Alpha centauri had an AI this good then it would be the best strategy game ever!
This game is 90% strategy and 10% luck. I would describe the game as being similar to your typical turn based civilisation game except that cities are planets and ground units are all spaceships. So for example if you liked Civilisation 1 2 3 or 4, or if you liked Alpha centauri, then you will love Galciv
True. There are better buildings to build over, like research, economy, and influence buildings. I wouldn't think the AI has a very efficient priority system in place. Otherwise i would say that it must purposfully wish to limit population growth on that planet.
one use for cargo hulls i found was essentially as oversized missiles. i loaded them with some engines and lots of weapons (none of the ultimate weapons tho, the idea was to make a cheap disposable offense; ultimate weapons aren't cheap). i used KHSM to make them look like missiles, even. i found they were less useful than i'd hoped, as they usually could only take out fig
The dude who thinks that demolishing resource bases has some kind of rationale beyond being a bug. You. What i have is an opinion, what you have are useless childish insults which are of little interest to me (perhaps some amusement).
My suggestion would be to first of all, prohibit planetary attack by forces which were not within a few squares of the planet at the beginning of the turn Even better... prohibit 'ANY' combat for a ship traveling beyond a certain distance.
Hmmm thanks for the info. Seems like i would have to be pretty desperate to use a cargo hull then. Am i feeling lucky punk? well am i? noooooo
If there was any one single tip most valuable to a strugling player, it would be this: Restart and keep restarting new games untill you get at least a 300 production bonus on Earth (700 is much better but rare). No good giving you this tip without mentioning you should immediately rush buy a factory on it. Tinker with your economic slider bars and you should be able to build a colony ship every 2 or 3 turns without rush bying.
If the AI does not allocate its rightful ability points I see that as giving player unfair advantage. Ok maybe its too much to ask for elaborate system for AI to pick its abilities, but atleast it should use them randomly if nothing else. My guess would be that the ability points are set up to be race specific, which is perfectly reasonable
The drawback will always be waiting for the other player/s to have their turn, no matter how many computers are involved. Yes definately, i remember trying the multiplayer in Alpha Centauri... Hopeless! At least the multiplayer in Civilisation lets you micromanage while the other person has their turn. This feature would also make a Galciv m
