Hey, I was thinking: EA games recently added a "commentary" system to Command and Conquer 3 where somebody could comment on games in progress or add commentary to recorded games.
Now, Stardock experimented with some sort of "epic story generator" which, due to technical challenges, never quite made it.
Now how about this: Some sort of commentary system instead?
What I'm imagining is some sort of panel the player could access where the player could take text notes on a game in progress - even take a "snapshot" of the current state of the game and add screenshots. Later, at the end of the game, the player can take all of that information, stitch it together somehow, and make something like an HTML page that could be player could put anywhere like a blog or something.
So, instead of some sort of "epic generator" creating all of that text, the player would generate the text while playing the game. I think that would make things a lot easier on the developers.
A log of information could also be generated as a reference for the person creating the commentary. Perhaps also a recording and replay system, but that may be asking too much.
