Instead of epic story generator, how about this?

commentary system

Hey, I was thinking: EA games recently added a "commentary" system to Command and Conquer 3 where somebody could comment on games in progress or add commentary to recorded games.

Now, Stardock experimented with some sort of "epic story generator" which, due to technical challenges, never quite made it.

Now how about this: Some sort of commentary system instead?

What I'm imagining is some sort of panel the player could access where the player could take text notes on a game in progress - even take a "snapshot" of the current state of the game and add screenshots. Later, at the end of the game, the player can take all of that information, stitch it together somehow, and make something like an HTML page that could be player could put anywhere like a blog or something.

So, instead of some sort of "epic generator" creating all of that text, the player would generate the text while playing the game. I think that would make things a lot easier on the developers.

A log of information could also be generated as a reference for the person creating the commentary. Perhaps also a recording and replay system, but that may be asking too much.

Mmm.. I'd like that. Of course it can be done just by taking some screen shots and editing text to them or so. But in game system would make it a lot easier.

I think something like this was pruposed when the 'technical difficulties' were announced.

I just want "print screen" to take a snapshot to a "screenshots" folder so I don't need to alt-tab and paste over, that would be great.

You're doing it the hard way. Get Irfanview (www.irfanview.com), start it up in capture mode, and then just hit ctrl+f11 whenever you want a screenshot and it'll write a file for you. No alt+tabbing, no copying or pasting, easy as pie.

That's useful. How well does it work on a two-monitor rig?
