One of the reasons GalCiv 2 is a great game is that it isn’t all about just going to war with everyone. Pre 1.1, you saw civs that stay out of the action and pursue their strategy along a different non-militaristic route.
This is my second game (Challenging, with randomized races and intelligence) in a row with 1.1 beta and both have played out in a similar fashion. The game starts out with more tension then there was in previous versions. I find that I am rarely "friendly" with anyone. Eventually diplomatic ties break down and suddenly everyone "knows what I am doing", which is surprising, because even I don’t know what the hell I am doing, as I am not building starbases in the middle of other civ’s territory, nor am I planting a huge armada next to their home planet, so what exactly am I doing anyway?
For the second game in a row, everyone is warring with each other. Civs with only a moderate force are declaring war on two or three other races at once.
Now maybe the randomness is selecting only races who are war-like, or maybe I am missing some genius strategy on the AI’s part here, but isn’t something a little weird now with 1.1, or is this just my inability as a GalCiv 2 player? Let me know if anyone else shares similar or opposing thoughts.
Also, please please please provide an option to disable the "next ship autofocus" when moving ships around. Greatly appreciated : )
And finally, does anyone else feel that we should have a couple more points to distribute amongst race bonuses at the start of the game?
Otherwise, game is great. Thanks for the update!!
