I can understand the frustration that you must have felt reading some of the responses to your well thought out suggestion list. However I would like to believe that Brad and the rest of the developers here listen and respond well to what people comment on in their posts. There are points that you have made in your list that others might find contentious and you need to consider that change as radical as you propose isn't going to find the support that you must have thought when you first place

@Precursor10 - I thought that your first post was well constructed and contained some great ideas concerning some of the short comings of this game, as I see them. I have some concerns over the choices that the AI is making, regardless of the level of difficulty that you play the game on. However I do believe that Brad and the rest of the team will continue to work very hard to continue to develop and enhance the playability, as already demonstrated with the patches released. IMO your
Your first neighbour is Drengin, and he's constantly atacking you. The second neighbour is Drath, that tries to take your planets with the influence. On the other side of the universe are Humans, that (being not at war) pursue technological victory. OFC NOBODY trades with you, only among themself. And your trade ships are getting destroyed by Drengin shortly after th
The game that I'm playing now on tough looks as though I'm going to win it without having fired one shot....!!!! I didn't plan it that way from the start but playing on a huge map with 9 other AI's I found that by researching every diplomatic and influence tech and then just buying and trading other techs, that I'm short of, will allow me to maintain a reasonable defence. But as everyone seems to like me I have found that all the other AI's are too bothered about kicking the c**p out of each oth
I just purchased Galactic Civilizations 2 today. I installed it without any problems, but when I try to play it, all i can see is a black screen, and the mouse cursor. I hear the music from the game playing and the introduction where the woman is talking, but the screen stays black. You could try and update your video card drivers to see if tha
Hello Ok I admit I could be missing something here but why do I get..... http://web.ukonline.co.uk/morgan.tate/1.jpg When I have researched as far as.... http://web.ukonline.co.uk/morgan.tate/2.jpg and only have....... http://web.ukonline.co.uk/morgan.tate/3.jpg EDIT: Ignore - I just remembered that there was a vote limiting the trade routes for evil empires and it got passed as 1 r
I agree...... The indicated area of influence around a starbase is fine however the same area around that of a constructor can be so difficult to see that at times I have wondered if it is working.
For those people who play using gigantic maps.... Don't you find the game a little limiting in only allowing the 9 opponents.? Regardless of the increased time it could take to compute the AI’s moves between turns I would at least like to try and play a gigantic map with a few more races. To be able to place your opponents start position would be useful as well, I get a little fed up with pressing CTRL-N. Perhaps just as important as map size.... What
Check out IE 7 btw. . . What do you mean by that....? Are you meaning that SDC will not work or the game itself, sorry but I can't understand exactly what you are meaning.?
Otherwise, you just make starbases fortresses. Now that is a good idea
Hello When my espionage is at its highest against the Drengin and I read.... http://web.ukonline.co.uk/morgan.tate/2.jpg I then didn't expect to find.... http://web.ukonline.co.uk/morgan.tate/4.jpg ...only one of their planets in the above picture shows one ship defending one planet. The first picture indicates that they have ZERO undefending colonies. Am I understanding the report correctly...? BTW you can see my influence base a
Hello I thought of staring a game as the Drengin and looked at selecting the War Party (not sure if that is a good idea or not) as my political party. I have noticed that the Drengins have racial abilities which include... Weapons +20 Soldiering +20 If I selected the War party that adds... Weapons +10 Soldiering +15 Defence +10 So, it might be an obvious question but some things don't seem to work in an obvi
Of course I will, glad to help..... In my first post I had written..... ...... I hadn't bothered running with Smart Exception but I will start again and if it captures a crash I cen send you further information.... BTW: I use Opera as my browser and sadly your forums will not allow me to use italics or other formatting, even with Opera set to identify itself as IE.
Hello Playing a game with 1.1 version and whilst the AI was doing its move the game crashed. Since applying the 1.1 final patch I hadn't bothered running with Smart Exception but I will start again and if it captures a crash I cen send you further information.... Just make sure that you are using the 1.1 patch as that seems to have resolved most of the crashing problems. But then again that patch seems to have caused a memory problem for many people.
Mine came in a box of cornflakes...
Click on Defenses without choosing a hull and you will get the size unmodified by hull-size. If they still are identical, then it's a bug. Good thinking..... It does seem to be a bug as both class I and II of the Droid Sentries remain the same with no hull selected and they both 'scale' the same when any of the hull sizes available are also selected.
Oddly enough that can be a liability in the early game as so much production costs a lotta cash with only a tiny population to pay for it. How right you can be. For the first time ever I got a planet with a 700% bonus tile at the start of a game and then another planet with a 300%. I should have left those tiles undeveloped for a little while rather than buy a factory on each of them right away as I didn't realise the implications that it would have on my economy. I
Does this help you..... https://www.galciv2.com/paradox/
I agree with everything that you have written Magnum. I too have tested the AI with certain trades, stacked totally in their favour, for them to refuse the transaction. I don't consider that as being fixed but more of broken.
I actually think it's right now....... You make some good points. However there could be a reasonable argument that if the AI is offered that much cash, ships and 23 planets it should be too strong an offer to refuse. After all the AI could have accepted the trade, finished you off, and then recaptured the resource. + AI is much less likely to trade away mining starbases. Less likely shouldn't mean never..... or does it in this case...?
The only constraint that I'm aware of, with the hull size of the ship, is the number of hardpoints and the initial loading capacity. BTW - I'm using the droids on a huge hulled ship. I do hope that if a dev reads this post then at least it gets acknowledged if it is a bug or not
Hello Could you please have a look at the cost / size of the Droid Sentries.... http://img86.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image14mi.jpg You will notice that the level II cost the same, same size and offer the same level of protection as the next one up at level III.
...ah then that *might* just be the issue. I'm not aware of any other opponent having built a frigate before me. And if they had have done would that mean I wouldn;t have got that announcement...? I am almost sure that every game that I have played I have always had that announcement and I couldn;t have been the first to have built a frigate everytime...?
