Someone mentioned that it would allow the AI to change ship weapon / defence types more often - but I have not read anything official about that. Also I believe it would allow the AI to take longer to compute its moves in response to your own. Whether the functions are fully implemented as yet or not I don't know - let's hope a dev could explain in detail the status of it.

Right now the devs are concentrating on changes/fixes to the internals of the game, things which cannot be modded by users. They are aware that there are issues like these, but time and budget limit them from fixing them right now when other larger bugs exist. There are many small items like the one that I have noted but I don't think that it is
Hello I first mentioned this in April, and several times since... https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=274&aid=114991 Could you please have a look at the defensive values of the Droid Sentries II and III and adjust them if you feel it is needed.... {Name}DroidSentries2{/Name} {Class}PD{/Class} {Size}4{/Size} {SizeMod}2{/SizeMod} {Cost}100{/Cost} {Absorption}6{/Absorption} {DisplayName}Droid Sentries II{/DisplayName} {Description}Miss
Here is mine.... SideBar = www.desktopsidebar.com/ - It is free and has undockable panels. Theme = www.crystalxp.net/bricopack/en.htm - mine is the Crstal XP one. It also uses the excellent and also free.... Dock Bar = www.punksoftware.com/rocketdoc
The AI gets to build more ships a year, and use more advanced strategies As that been documented as a fact or is it just speculation....? I understand that it has been suggested that future builds could take advantage of that feature but I must have missed the post where it states what you have written.
Could you p-l-e-a-s-e look at the values of the droid sentries II and III (they are identical) Fingers crossed
Whilst I REALLY do appreciate the continued development of this game I would like it if this 1.3 release concentrated on BUG fixes over and above anything else. It is the bugs, like those mentioned in this thread and numerous others that have been reported, that cause me the greatest irritation when playing. Whilst each individual bug might seem trivial to some I find that cumulatively they spoil my game.
Well spotted, I noted and posted about the Droid Sentries a while ago... https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=114991&cmd=myposts#885009 I posted a follow up post as well about them when the 1.2 patch was in beta... https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=119270&cmd=myposts Either I'm unlucky or it is not important enough for a fix. What I suggest is that you edit this file... (mine is found in D:\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Data\English) GC2Typ
When I use Opera the smiley faces do not work for me but I have started to use Maxthon again and now all the forum functions are fine and I have the tabbed browsing etc that I enjoyed with FF or Opera... http://www.maxthon.com/
The hamster has now got arthritis and needs a hip replacement. Normal service will be resumed once surgery has been performed.
Trying once more with Maxthon broswer, Opera wouldn't let me use smiley faces There we go <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=
Testing now using Opera browser This should work Perhaps this will Maybe I'm getting lucky
Well I'm now using Maxthon browser rather than Firefox or Opera so let's see if the carriage return works I wonder.... ...just maybe.... Wow I'm impressed Emergency Broadcast System...... Now what was the name of that game.....could it be from Zork....?
You could try and install the latest patch. version 1.2 as that should help.
Hello I have noted that ignuss has pointed out the following in the 1.2 Changelog thread... This has made the Manufacturing Center a technology to avoid though and Industrial Sector as well to a lesser degree unless all colonies are up and running. Enhanced Factory, cost 100, produce 11. Manufacturing Center, cost 200, produce 12. Industrial Sector, cost 400, produce 16. No problem for the human player who stops research at Enhanced Factory but big problems for the ai....
I loved the game Lords of Midnight by Mike Singleton. Have you seen a newer version being done here... http://www.icemark.com/winlom99/index.html I am not sure though if I would define that as a TBS game but more of a RPG / Adventure type. One of the earlier TBS games for the PC that I played had to be the Blue Byte's Battle Isle.
Hello When I posted this... https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=114991&cmd=myposts#885009 ...I was hoping that it would be included in the 1.2 beta fixes. Since I placed that post I have noted others that have posted about weapon or defence upgrades that don't offer any value over the previous type. If you could include the Droid fix, I am looking though the Galactopedia and it still shows them with the same value so I apologise if this fix is not showing
@Justas5 - be aware that there are zealots here that will brand you as a heretic for the blasphemous post that you have made
I also agree with what the OP has written, a well thought out post which made many valid points. I am hoping that when 1.2 final is released it will be a step in the right direction in resolving some of those short comings that have been noted. It might also allow those people who are skilled and adept enough to release mods that will increase the longevity and diversity of the game, just like the RTW series. The ability to customise and modify the RTW games has surely been one of its
Has the upgrade bug been fixed where it costs way more to upgrade all your ships at once than to do them individually? I never realised that there was a bug that was causing the problem that you described. I was always amazed at the total cost of upgrading my fleet and so rarely bothered.
Bluebeholder - As you have become adept at understanding some of the mechanics of how the game functions, including optimal build choices, you now realise that the AI doesn't play with a strategy that is comparable to your own. Along with no apparent overall focus on any particular winning objective it then becomes reasonably easy to counter. A suggestion might be that you will need to ‘dumb’ down some of the options that you are making with your initial setup. Whilst I do understand this
I too am looking forward to the ideas about the1.2 patch will bring to the game. I am almost overwhelmed at the tenacity and drive which Frogboy and the team apply to their work in continuing to develop this epical masterpiece. I would also like to believe that the OP should find the the future patches, as well as easier modding support, a positive step in the direction that meets with his / her approval. I do hope that the OP continues to frequent the forums and contribut
I really despair (well a little anyway) at how a thread can soon become personal rather than focussing on the points made by the OP in his first post which was both well constructed and thought out. If the OP made a misjudgement at all it was a lack (no offence to the OP) of understanding of the depth of feeling and passion shared by some people when they feel their game is being unfairly criticised, even if that criticism is not unfair in its content but it is not sugar coated to the degr
They need to feed the hamster or change the batteries
I can understand the frustration that you must have felt reading some of the responses to your well thought out suggestion list. However I would like to believe that Brad and the rest of the developers here listen and respond well to what people comment on in their posts. There are points that you have made in your list that others might find contentious and you need to consider that change as radical as you propose isn't going to find the support that you must have thought when you first place
