Norton internet security provides virus scans, and a firewall to protect your computer. I haven't been too impressed with it over the past few years I've had it. I plan to switch to something else, and it would be a good idea to take someone else's recomendations for antivirus program. I use Zonealarm, they do a free version of their firewall or

As for more weapon types? Currently we have a pseudo- Rock/Paper/Scissor set up. Not perfectly, but over all I don't think a fourth weapon type is all that necessary. If there were to be a fourth type, my suggestion would be drone fighters. I'm not sure what the defense for them would be. But before a fourth weapon type was presented, I believe the current set up of bea
Mega Events They would be so cool! having a race from another galaxy threaten all lifeb within ours and we have to unite and defeat them! The possibilities are endless with this feature. Mega events will be in DA, including the Dread Lords entering the game as a major race.
I'd also like monthly tribute. Isn't that already in? You demand X BC per turn for Y turns. Don't think its a permanent option though.
3. The current system forces the AI to target the ship with the biggest guns, least defense and least hp. So if the carrier itself is less well armed then the fighters it gets shot last, that works.
(Citizen)farkasSeptember 20, 2006 13:17:08Reply #6Maybe I was just lucky, but in my current 1.31 game one of the minors, the Fundamentalists IIRC, wiped out the Korx. Admittedly the Korx didn't have a terrific starting position and the game was only set to "tough" but I think it shows that minors can sometimes play some role. The Fundamentalists
I bought GalCiv II from a local store as soon as I heard it was available. Is GalCiv II resource hungry? How realistic is the PIII 800 mhz requirement? So you already own a copy but have never pla
So one of these carriers allows you go fit more into your fleet than your logistics ability would normally allow because each carried ship counts less to logistics than it ordinarily would? Or is that negated by the logistics value of the carrier itself? Aside from logistics, carriers allow you to field small craft that do not require any engines/life support/sensors and so are 100% weapons/defence systems. Small ship packing big punch. Downside being you have to build the ca
yeah i usually mooch off their technology (without giving them any military techs), then once the initial land grab is done they're my first targets... especially since it seems like they mostly appear around my territory, does anyone know why this is? is it because i'm colonizing the quickest so the AI tries to slow me down by putting them in my way? <br
(Citizen)RolendDTSeptember 21, 2006 15:01:26Reply #4Paladin thanks for the clarifaction, I knew about Aphrodisiacs but didn't know if there were others. Yea by the time I get around to Habitat Imporvement most of my worlds populations are near or at max anyway, however I still build any wonder or trade good I can, even if they arn't usefull to me, if for no other reason th
It is now just a matter of time before the B5 mod incorporates the rotating section of the Omega class destroyer.
The real question is, will we be able to colonize every planet using the new system. Anotherwords, will it replace this wierd numeric habitabitabily rating system where virtually everything is 0, earth-like is 10, and paradise 26. If you could use ice planets (normally at 3-4) with some technologies like earth-planets, it would blow this system right out the window. <BR
(Senator)Peace PhoenixSeptember 21, 2006 03:27:55Reply #3What is that library anyways, and Why do you need it to cut engineering time?? Well, for programming, library is the way to not rediscover the wheel every time. Generally it is code made by a project but used by others projects that need the same functionnalities. If you want to build a car, what would be the
The 'fluff' (Wiki: "A term for anything shallow or superficial. It can be applied derogatively, such as to describe news media; and neutrally, such as to describe the portions of role-playing game books that are not about rules mechanics.") does mention 'Stargates' which were used, before Humans developed Hyperdrive and shared it among the races, to travel between worlds.
So the new features in DA, won't be usable in the original campaign? Probably not, I imagine the original campaign would need alot of re-working to balance the new stuff.
Standard practice for me is to put at least 1 rubbish ship in orbit of every colony ASAP to discourage opportunistic invasions. Then I build a defence fleet to go out to the border and actually stand some chance of stopping an invasion force from reaching the colonies in the first place. Should I be able to spare ships later on I bulk up the planets, otherwise I focus on stopping the enemy from entering my space.
TBH I thought you always could do it, I just never bothered.. But I may be thinking of some beta build.
I enjoy watching the battles, I like to see why I'm winning or getting slaughtered. It's useful information. I am looking forward to DA though, there will be some graphical improvements in it although I dunno how extenstive. New textures are coming in, maybe some re-worked effects. Would be nice if the ship movement got a bit of a clean up but its all eye candy. I know this is the most 'action' feature that Stardock have ever done in a game, and considering the genre I think it's pr
There's a setting in the Options to allow functional components to be left alone when Upgrading a ship. Normally, the game removes all functional components when you go to upgrade. This I did not know.
Should I have expected to get a message to reboot my system after using SC to update GC to 1.31? I don't think I've ever had that from SDC, at most it reboots itself after an SD update, but not the computer. I had no problems with updating at all, maybe something somewhere just decided to twitch on you? <img src="http://images.stardock.c
Why are you playing nice with the Vorlons? They're right nasty buggers - they use planet killers!
(Avatar)BoogieBacSeptember 14, 2006 20:13:46Reply #11I know we have a "Box Art" item on the Expansion To-Do list, so I'm under the impression that oyu will be able to get a cd version of DA from us, probably at an extra 5$ or something for burning and packaging and such (it'll just be burned here in the office duplicator). So don't quote me on it, but my gut tells me it
More like gameplay mechanics -- the hexagon system has just never caught on big time with games. Too bad, I certainly prefer it but I guess the majority of customers wins out on this one. The problem I have with hexagonal maps is that the map edges look wrong, you end up with that stepping effect where if your unit moves along the map edge it zi
I don't enjoy the constant needs for updates. If that was the case for Civilization III, Diablo, SimCity4, the Sims2, etc. I would never have continued to purchase or even play games, with the exception of the great PS2!! For me to log on even once a week, hoping to catch a glimpse of a new update or patch, well, that shouldn't be necessary. I
