(Citizen)DarthBobNovember 5, 2006 17:22:40Reply #17I would like to see a new type of starbase, shipyard. There ships could be built and old ships could dock and repair themselves. You would need to supply it with resources somehow, on a planet you can assume that mines etc are incorporated into the production improvements and supplying th
The option to slow down social/military production is interesting, I wouldn't use it myself but I imagine others would. On the timescale point, just pretend each week is a month or even 6 months and its problem solved. I really don't focus on that point as tbh I really don't think it matters. Why are carrier suggestions always so complicated? The simplest execution would be a Moo style module that launches a few fighters at the target. Its essentially a blinged up gun with f
- impossibility of adding engines to small spacecraft - impossibility of moving small spacecraft around the map without a carrier Now I'm no modder but I think this part could be done. If I remember (doubtful) correctly (miracles do happen) each module in the game has set stats but when you mount it to a hull its size is modified dependin
(Citizen)DrabNitramNovember 6, 2006 19:25:22Reply #18How does the beta test work exactly? I pre-order and then get a copy of the beta version. I play and look out for problems. I've always wanted to get in on one of these beta test periods. If you have ever downloaded a beta version of one of the GC2 updates, its like that. Earli
Look at what your opponent is using on theit ships and try to use a countering srtup on your ships. If they have lasers try to fit shields, if you dont have shield tech then fit armour or point defence, you still get some defence benefit but not as much as if you had used the corresponding defence to the weapon. Shields counter lasers Armour counters mass drivers (projectiles) Point Defence (ECM) counters missiles Try to use a weapon type that your enemy isnt using def
No matter how big the largest map is someone will always want a bigger one. God help them.
All hail stardock and the mighty SDC! Now I'm off to find out if LiLdevil1 is a stardock employee in disguise playing a clever move in their ongoing quest to brainwash us with their greatness..
(Citizen)TheSpanishInquisitionNovember 3, 2006 02:22:03Reply #19its a rts. *yawns* No, it really isnt. That whole 3D robot thing you see on the screenies is actually a sub-game, and its pretty much all optional. It gets attention in the marketing as it shows the games diversity in picture form. If yiu dont want to play the RTS element
I remember a post saying that they were looking at the second half of November, we're probably looking at 2 weeks away now.
Sounds a bit like the Senate missions in Rome Total War, The senate would periodically tell you to go invade city/blockade port/whatever and give you X turns to achieve it. Succeed and be rewarded, fail and recieve a fairly minor penalty like a small knock to your popularity with the people/senate.
It's funny, I've been thinking for months that SR2 is exactly the kind of game that should be on SDC! Can I be the customer from hell and ask if I can use SDC to download/patch Space Rangers 2 when I bought a hardcopy? I suspect the answer is 'sod off' but I'd love to be able to update my games that are now on SDC/STEAM. SR2 is alot of fun, the only issue I found with it is occasionally dubious english translation, but in a way it adds to the games charm. The fact the russia
find the ships in GC2 look very cartoony. So does World of warcraft, its a style thing.
Note to self: dont use bold when you cant edit.
You do need ridiculous amounts of money to upgrade ships. But money early is most important. So does that mean early money is harder, easier or the same? He means that in the early game you will get more money to make keeping your economy stable easier (lots of new players go horribly broke and it can be annoying for the rest o
What, exactly, is a retentive spreadsheet monkey? It's a small ape descended from a rare type of monkey that escaped from a Zoo in Dudley, England, back in the 1960's. The colony now migrate between the Midland's cities nesting in office tower blocks. They like to steal spreadsheet printouts to use as nesting materials and collect. When they
Back to non-political stuff, been working on the AI for Dark Avatar. It's really proving challenging on how best to use espionage agents. Should they be concentrated against a single player? And if so, who? Should they be held in reserve (since new agents cost increasing amounts) so that you can do a mass attack or should you do a steadily increasing stream of them to an
And, PLEASE... Give at least a week's warning for the first beta. I want to be able to pre-order to get it, and so does my nephew. We don't want to have to wait till the next major revision, if that is how you will work things. Hopefully the Paypal debit/credit card will work for that. The way it worked with the GC2 betas was that everyon
When responding to the OP, my desire for the inclusion of TC led me to express my hope that the Devs might also change their views on this feature since they are contemplating a change to Dark Avatars release date. Unfortunately you're underestimting just how much work it would take to build a tactical combat system from scratch. It is way beyon
BUT with a guarenteed promise that this isn't the full expansion and further updates to it will be made upto Feb. 2007. Bit of a slippery slope that, you will get some people who expect more to come than they're going to actually get and feel short changed. Releasing unfinished products sets yourself up for alot of grief, either put it back
Unfortunately Galciv2 was broken when released, it was crash prone and had severe memory leaks, imho, one could even espouse stardock was afraid of how buggy their game was and chose not to put copy protection on it because they knew it was being released in an unfinished state, but instead of copy protection, bugs + serial # required for game updates have the same effects
Has anyone from Stardock mentioned this as an option? If not, is seems people may be assuming this is feasable when it may not be. I don't think Stardock puts major features into patches. The ship design interface was completely redesigned post-release, some pretty big changes have gone into those updates.
Despite my usual long patience, understanding and want of better end products, I have been looking forward to DA coming out on time in a few weeks. I'd be disapointed if I had to wait another 3-4 months for it. I ordered it months ago as it is, it's a long time to wait. I'd be quite happy if DA landed with the features already promised. It's enough and shoiuld be value for money. This extra stuff would be great but I don't think Stardock owe it to us to put so much in. I would be h
The expansion pack after the soon to be released Dark Avatar could well be a multiplayer expansion pack. I was left out due to cost of the feature vs relative demand. Now the more demanded stuff is more or less there Stardock are thinking about it. Also Society, stardock's MMO project, is coming along so they can import alot of the code in to GC2 from there. Multiplayer is not a simple patch feature, it involves alot of new coding/testing and design work. It's an expans
This sounds like a good deal all-around, but I wonder how it works for a second (and third, etc) expansion. In that case, the early buyer ends up paying $50+$30+$30, while the new arrivals still only pay $50 for all three? And what about this: If I know that's the pattern, I can postpone buying expansion #2 and wait until the third expansion is released, and buy the "gold
