If you ordered from a retail store (read:anywhere other than this website) your SN is on the box, so you'll have to wait till you get that. Not that there'll be much to download that isn't on the CD. You're not really missing out on anything. We're not actually playing the game early, just downloading the big movies and such so Stardock can work the kinks out of its system and we only have to do a short download on release day to get the last few megs.

If I knew anything about the Internet, I wouldn't go into a public forum and start a thread on what a great setup my system has just for the heck of it. How long you been on this here inter-web, boy? I'd say at least 30% of all forum posts, everywhere, are just people bragging about their systems. <img src="smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALIGN="ab
Maybe I should try to get back into the top 100 before GalCiv2 comes out. I'm at 107 right now... And it's been a few months since my last game. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the new version.
I just got a trade offer from the Iconians. They wanted me to give me "Chaff" in return for my "Soil Enhancement". But the text says they want to give me Soil Enhancement in return for Chaff. Also, it says "if" instead of "is".
I ordered GalCiv I the beginning of last week You missed that sentence. Twice. He's not playing any version fo GalCiv II.
If I preorderd the game today (not through TGN) would I have access to beta 4 when it comes out, or will I have to wait until the final release? (It's actually a moot question for me, since I already did preorder the game today, but I'm curious to know how long I'll have to wait.)
You don't need SDC for that. https://www.stardock.com/support.asp
Fleet Control (or swhatever you wish to call it) I thought Stardock was planning on calling it "logistics".
I was thinking of the event where the leader of a civ is assassinated while touring a factory on one of your worlds, causing war to break out. If it's like your standard SciFi hivemind, that would wipe out the entire civ. The queen is not a personage that ever goes anywhere near citizens of other civs.
That's something to keep in mind. You might be able to talk to her directly on the diplomacy screen, but you can't have any events that require her to be physically present (like the "Leader of a Civ is assassinated" event from GalCiv 1).
What email address did you send the question to? I've always gotten quick replies from [email protected], but I think maybe [email protected] would be more appropriate for that question. I think [email protected] gets checked less regularly.
1024x768 will be the minimum. It will support higher resolutions (unlike the first GalCiv), but not lower ones.
Unless I've misunderstood something, you can pre-order the game now and get Beta 3 in August. It's only Beta 2 that's closed to new people.
If you really want to, you will be able to make an Avatar with a couple of trade modules slapped on it. Will it be like in GalCiv1, where the ship disappeared after establishing a trade route? Or will it do something else, like use up the Trade module so the ship can't establish another route unless you add a new one?
You mean like as a secretary or something? Kidding. Looking back on it, though, I only remember three humans being pictured in the original GalCiv. Four if you count the Altarian as a human. And two of them were the millitary guys from the victory movie. Not really an egregious omission, considering the small sample size.
"After researching the wreckage of an ancient ship that had powerful weapons, you now have Laser II" I believe something like this was mentioned (by a developer) when we were discussing the possibility of wreckage left by ship battles.
That's no problem, as long as 1600x900 isn't the minimum for the special rally point interface.
we may even add things that only show up in the interface if the resolution is high enough. Just promise me you'll make for people with lower resolutions to make those things appear, too. i used an application once that had certain very useful interface elements dissapear if you started it in 800x600. you could go i
I hope we're not planning to exclude all those people living in Latin America.
Sounds more like the Replicators from Stargate than the robots in the Matrix. In fact, it sounds a little like the Yor.
I recall Brad saying somewhere that money from pre-orders takes the place of advances paid by publishers for Stardock, which allows them to develope games independently.
Probably not until much later. The main thing Stardoci is trying to evaluate with Beta 1 is hardware compatibility. With Beta 2 the focus will shift to the user interface. Beta 3 is when they start worrying about balancing the gameplay. See http://galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=64347#535063 for details.
A BC bonus is boring. It's just a number in the corner that's already pretty high to begin with. Better to have a tangible result from the battles, that even makes it easier to fight future battles against the same race. And, should you really be able to research Missiles purely from what your survey ship recovers from scrap? </
The more you think about all of this the less believable it is. The little squares on the map are called "parsecs". What kind of sensor technology can you imagine that would detect things several parsecs away in less than a month? Why can't you fly a ship through a square that's occupied by a neutral ship? The ship can't be taking up any significant portion of the space. If it was that big, it would be sucking up stars and planets. For that matter, why c
I found the page right here . It takes months for subspace communications to be received What is today (2178) a matter of debate is whether the Arceans sent us the plans to aid us or to conquer us -- their star gate plans had no mechanism to turn it off. But given
