If you read the background to GC1 you will see that this is already the case. The owner of the stargate has to allow the other ships to travel through. Admitted the owner could be fooled into letting a surprise military fleet from a neutral or 'friend' through, but he would never allow and enemy to travel through. As

I object to the "not essential" part of your statement. Remaking redesigning my ships every game does not sound like fun to me. And there was a whole thread in the dev journals discussing how many accessories should be allowed on ship designs submited to the new Library, to allow lower end systems to load them, so I don't think there's much chance of this not getting in.
As this feature is already in the original GalCiv, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be in the sequel.

e, nothing less.
g to a player who was supposed to go before you, you wouldn't be able to move your ship until the other player had moved his. Probably not easy to implement, but it's the way that makes the most sense in this kind of game IMO.
ted techs, buildings, ships, etc.
I'm willing to give ship design a try. I trust Stardock to make sure micromanagment doesn't get out of hand. Some standard set of ships will probably do for most situations, anyway.
If you're looking for a way to give yourself an advantage over the AI, all you have to do is turn the difficulty level down.
Rabits, for instance.

Indeed it is. I'd post a link to the thread where Frogboy gives the exact date, but...

a problem with it, I'd say GalCiv is one of the best names you could have.
