If I knew anything about the Internet, I wouldn't go into a public forum and start a thread on what a great setup my system has just for the heck of it.

How long you been on this here inter-web, boy? I'd say at least 30% of all forum posts, everywhere, are just people bragging about their systems.

well if you knew anything about computers you would know that a Deskstar is a make of HHD (opps sorry HHD means H A R D D R I V E) you post was a waste of time

Funny thing is that I'm not sure if the person quoted above was trying to be dumb or not.

(To fill him/her in if not: HDD is the normal abbreviation for harddrive, being Hard Disk Drive. HHD doesn't make sense, since there's only one H in "Hard drive". At that, just because he doesn't know the "deskstar" brand doesn't mean anything. I didn't know it because I don't have any Hitachi drives, and I just corrected you on a simple abbreviation.)

(The only point to this post is counter-bragging. )

@PJ: Since 1995. But that everyone is doing it doesn't mean its best practice, so to speak.

I call sour grapes But really, who *else* are you going to brag to? Only internet people have nothing better to do than listen to how crazy awesome the system you just built is. Nobody else is going to understand you when you put the sunglasses on your smiley and start posting if your computer is good enough to run a game in random forums.

Apropos, I'm in love http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_6400_gold_dual_channel

A couple of friends of mine recently stripped 20 decommisioned 10-year old workstations of all the RAM and 4 GB Harddisks.
I wonder what they're gonna do with that junk *rolleyes*

Old RAM can be sold in bulk to companies that refurbish it.

Hard drives can be taken apart to get rare earth magnets. I have hundreds of these super-powerful magnets as well as stacks of shiny drive platters. I was thinking of covering one of my livingroom walls entirely with the platters. It would be a cool mirror.
