I think GC2 should double the tiles and/or has a little more bonus. No, there really is no need to build one building of each kind everywhere. E.g. a class 5 planet with four factories gives a nice second tier ship production planet.
Good luck!
Building soil enhancements and the like improves the PQ, using the Terraformer wonder (and the neutral alignment special, IIRC) however doesn't - seems to be a bug.
I'm with EnsRegis on this one. I always delete or move all ship designs manually (in the corresponding folder) before starting a new game. Every game is different, I rarely match the requirements for my old designs at the right point of time. By the way, is there a way to get rid of the standard designs? I don't use them anyway.
Clicking on foreign stats, then relation tab. It's empty because I haven't met anyone. But you can just hit ctrl+1 through ctrl+0 and tada you can now trade from turn 1. Is this the reason that by the time I meet another civilization they have tons more techs.. and as I meet more they have already tech trade
I agree that although having a "no tech trade" option in the next version is a nice thing, it doesn't address the issue that tech trading is a very (and I think too) powerful tool the way it is now. The AI is too generous and credulous in my opinion.
It's a known though somewhat mysterious bug. Loading autosaves and the like helps sometimes.
Trade techs with them, that's what they do among each other. Once you get the hang of it, it's almost too easy to be the first technological power (even without research bonuses). The next version will offer an option to disable tech trading for everyone, by the way.
Wonders costing a planetary tile is fine with me, they're worth it.
Thanks for the three new scenario options! Will they be usable for metaverse games as well? The fleet manager looks great too, seems like the cumbersome fleet management when lots of ships are in just one tile will soon be a thing of the past!
Brad, good to see you're still with us and not turned away by either destructive comments or petty disputes. The GalCiv 2 AI certainly doesn't deserve being called "bad" or "broken" at all - I've never seen a better one in a 4X game. The "problem" is, the better the AI is in general, the more I wonder when seeing things like a wonder on a +300% p
psychoravin, it's actually you who does a good job of throwing a round of accusations based on nothing more than assumptions. It is your posting that is one of the least constructive ones here. Note that your whole list of exploits isn't needed to win, not even on Suicidal difficulty. And yes, I know what I'm talking about, thank you. (It is true that the AI builds ships faster than speed 2, in my experience AI combat ships a
I've used creativity as well, but I'm not 100% sure it actually does something. Would be a good thing to hear an official word about it!
By the way, here's a question to the StarDock Development Team... Why don't you use the "ESC" key to close all windows in the game, including the "Research Manager", "Planet Manager" and all others? Because, you know, closing all those windows with the mouse is quite annoying and time-consuming . I second this idea. <img src="http://images.stardock.c
Basicaly the people coming to defend the AI have not exposed its weaknesses yet via gameplay. You will eventualy. Then you will be in the same boat as the rest of us of being able to beat the game on at least tough every time. I second that. There have been postings trashing the AI which were one
Well, I certainly don't want to get on your nerves, I imagine that you have more important things to do than to check someone's score, but - it's not about the scoring of a particular game - it's pretty obvious that the calculation of the total MV score is similar to the one used in GC 1: total score divided by square root of the number of games played (per time block, but we're still in the first one I guess) - this system works for sev
Oh, and I've been reading the forum. Some people dissing my AI. You're asking for it. On intelligent level the AI is going to have its vengeance. Because I've been playing the game too and coming up with new things. So those of you who think you've got things under control are in for it. Hmm, suddenly I f
Okay I found the default button. let's see Actually don't see anyone medals now. Hmm, I can see yours, Exalted Druid!
If the AI is building embassies all over then you're not playing at a high difficulty level. That's one of the low-intelligence algorithms on planet set up. Sorry Brad, I've seen it happen up to Suicidal. My 2 cents on Freudian's points: - Research: I wouldn't say the AI is horrible in it. I actually got the techs for Inve
My metaverse score ( Link ) isn't what it should be: When I add the scores of my 6 games manually and divide by the square root of 6 (this is how it goes, right?), I get 466,409. The metaverse however lists only 391,590 for some time now. Could someone please have a look at it? I had no games flagged as "cheated" and no, the score cannot be explained by using a different square root, you'd need the square root of 8.51
Yes, the Thalans have a PQ 15 planet in their home system - but no other habitable planet.
Well, on the tech tree all researched techs are left from those you can research currently, and they have a different colour - isn't that enough?
I like playing the Thalans a lot. Admitted - you can crank out higher starting bonuses with the Yor (except that little diplomatic malus when dealing with everyone), but the Thalans are second best and start with that nice PQ 15 planet.
Taking a look at your player groups, I think I'm a realistic board gamer who has to fight down the armchair developer every once in a while. My only criticisms have been about social wastage and hints about game cheese a.k.a. AI weaknesses.
