I still noticed the AI put a technological capital on their world, but build no labs. I always see this on home worlds. They don't seem to specialize their planets to get the most bang for their buck. But it is still better than before when they didn't even build on the entire planet.

I read that they actually get bonuses to ALL attributes, not just economic. I know that Brad stated that the AI gets economic bonuses at levels higher than "intellegent", but I later read in an interview that he explained that all attributes are given bonuses, even their sensor range. (They have such a large sensor range at masochistic that he thought they may not even have a fog of war.)
I'm new to the game (read as: I installed it at 2:00 am), but so far I've documented seventeen crashes (haven't bothered reporting them to MicroSoft... waste of time). The crashes aren't deliberately reproducable, mostly because they make no sense, and they don't destabilize the o/s. Any little thing can set the game on its ear:
Try updating to 1.1 beta 4. I agree that the AI does do a poor job with speed and planet management, but is much better in the 1.1 beta 4 version. (This is their release candidate for 1.1, so it should be relatively free of bugs.)
I don't like how tech trading is implemented in this game, but it is not a problem because i'm losing or because AI is cheating; the problem is that i don't want to be FORCED to tech trading every 4-5 turns.I must say that things after recent patches and betas are a lot improved about this problem but in my opinion tech trading i
I don't know why you'd bother with MP anway. The other guy will probably d/c by the first year anyway. Only if you play someone you don't know. I learned in C&C Red Alert, that it isn't worth it to play against strangers, because they usually suck anyway. I would only play a strategy game against a
I have noticed this too. I think the civ needs to have "cool" relations or worse for the "go to war" option to be available, but I'm not sure... EDIT: Err... I didn't read the post properly... Maybe they won't go to war with them because they are of the same alignment? If anyone knows how this works, I would greatly appreciate it if they let me know. I have been wondering this for a long time.
My suggestion is similar to what the above poster said: Don't allow jewelry to be used in the multiplayer ship creation. If you already have custom ships designed with jewelry, you can use those, and even upgrade them with new weapons and components; but don't let someone attach additional jewelry to a ship in MP. Other than that, allow the player to change all of their non-ship-movement options when it is not their turn. The options that
I have a couple of simple suggestions. Research an early weapon technology, then immediately try to research Star Republic. This will let you defend your planets during the long research period. Getting Star Republic will add a 25% bonus to all major categories, so you will have an advantage over the other races. Research Xeno Ethics as early as you think you can as well. This will give you a bunch of bonuses as well. DO NOT trade either of these technologies
The "We know what you are doing" usually means that you have a troop transport in range of one of their planets. If it is a minor race, it only means that you have a troop transort within range of one of its starbases. (Probably a bug, but since it only seems to happen with minor races, it may not be common knowledge.)
I really have to admit MOO3 wins GalCiv 2 when it comes to empire size and planet count. In MOO3, on the largest galaxy, I can be controlling 300+ planets in the mid-game while dominating 1/3 of the galaxy (total planet count would be almost 1000 planets). Contrast this in GalCiv 2 where I have about 50+ planets controlling 1/4 o
WOOHOOO! Now I can actually buy the game. It looks like it will be good.
HOMM V (with no starforce) HOMM V won't have Starforce? Are you pulling my leg?
Bump to see if anyone is interested.
Even though the 2-page ad looks very similar to the game, it looks like it is drawn, and has no actual "game" pictures. I know that I would always blow off any game ad that had no "in-game" pictures, because you didn't really know what the game looked like, and maybe they were trying to hide an ugly interface or something... Anyway, I do like the ad, but I would add obvious "in-game" pictures to future ads. (They don't have to be the focal point, bu
I know that you don't want to move the Defiant to Small because you want it to have more hitpoints, but it may be a good idea to move it there.
What is the research slider set to? If you just began a game, I believe that it is set to 33% default. Setting research to 100% and setting industrial capacity to 100% should give you the 13 research you are looking for. I believe he/she means setting research slider to 100%, not industrial capacity.
I am considering creating a new Metaverse empire called "the Reavers", based on the Reavers from the Firefly series. (I don't really want to be a part of the empires already out there, so I figured I might as well make my own.) Anyway, the reason I am posting here is to ask if anyone would be interested in joining? I wouldn't even mind if someone else ran the emipre if someone feels they have the time. Anyway, let me know if you would lik

I think food is the only one with this problem. Everything else you want more of (better morale from games, better influence from embassies, better research, better production, etc...), but food is the only one taht I can think of that can be detrimental to have too much. I find the biggest problem w
It's called max hp for a reason. If you want higher HP, put points into starting max hp. I think she/he is saying that when you repair a ship it sometimes has more than it's max HP. (Say a ship has 10 damage, but you repair at a rate of 20 hp/turn, then that ship may have 10 additional hitpoints afte
Both races need the Alliance Technology, and you need to have "close" relations. The second usually only comes after you have a sizable military, and a lot of trade routes with the race you are trying to ally with. The two primary steps to building a "close" relation with another race is as stated above: make multiple trade routes with the race; have a larger military rating than the other race. Being the same alignment, and not having any
I like havin you around Martimus. Your posts are always knowledgable and to the point. I click the 'Insightful' rating on a great many of your posts. Thanks! Thank you very much. I actually thought that I posted too much, and that people might be getting annoyed with me. I hope I don't get too ann
3. No, this is a bug, and it has been there for every version I have seen yet. At ANY time in a game, every other option you click on the timeline shows lines for each civilization. If you click on Diplomacy, it is blank. I have seen this too.
