The score is equated like this: Add all of the scores together and divide by the square-root of the total number of games played. Not a true average, but not just a total score either.

In 1.0x, I ended up mopping up most of my galaxies with just one fleet of ships. My military rating was in the tank, everyone hated me, but I didn't lose more than one or two ships, while taking out multiple opposing fleets. It seems to have been fixed in 1.1 beta 2. So when the release comes out in
I never really build tiny ships, but I regularly build small ships with 3 engines on them. Research some miniturization and you can fit nearly as much on a small ship as you do a large ship. (Which is weird, my current game has small ships with 35 attack, 5 defense, and 16 speed; my large ship has 35 attack, 18 defense, and 24 speed. My medium ship is somewhere inbetween - although it also has 16 speed so that I can easily make fleets of small and me
This is utter bs Really, why bash people just looking for help with this buggy game. Of course some of their concerns might be minor but are concerns nonetheless. Little concern over their feeling is being displayed Lighten up and try and help these people! Being nice to them is not that hard. Otherwise your
I have seen the animation. It causes a weird double funnel effect. Maybe it uses some graphical options that aren't available on your computer, so it just doesn't show up.
I also don't like that idea. The current setup works quite well. (Besides, there is no drag in space. The engines only need to overcome the initial inertia, but after that there is no reason they shouldn't be able to go as fast as the smaller ships.)
Also, interstingly on the game I want to bring the ship into, I have 172 load points on my huge ships, but the start of the Gods game my Huge only has 160... Anyone have an idea why? You probably had a hyperion shrinker built on one of your planets, or maybe you used a different race with a higher min
I can tell you why I can regularly beat the AI on intellegent and above. It is really because they do not value the government techs very much (or at least don't seem to), so they don't get them until late in the game. The earlier you have the Star Republic, Star Democracy, and Star Federation, the more advantage you will have. Each of these gives you an additional 25% to all of the major categories - so the earlier you get them the more powerful you will be. That being said, my
Link One of the first things Brad talks about in this journal entry is that he is making the resources worth more to the computer. Hopefully this fixes the "bug" you are talking about.
I would love to use it. Albiet I think I am going to wait until the release of 1.1, so that it is easy to switch between modded and unmodded games. Anyway, great work! I don't really recognise the first two that you made. (I think the defiant was that ship designed to attack the borg, but I don't really remember.) But they are cool, nonetheless. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmidd
I would love to see it just be a round robin: Each civilization gets a turn in order. As you discover new races, they would just get added to the end of the line for who would get to pick a resolution to vote on. (You would pick the resolutions from a list.) But I don't mind it much as it is now - so if they add it great, but if not I won't mind.
If you make the star systems more sparce (Uncommon or occasional) you may not have this problem.
is there a list of changes anywhere for b3 Yes. Link
where do the save games live? i looked through the directory structure, and i don't see anything obvious... The saved games are actually in your "my documents" folder. it is in the galciv2 folder under "my games".
The military resource starbase can boost your attack and defence values by up to 15% I believe, so that could make quite a difference as well. Actually it can increase the attack and defense power by around 70% if it is fully outfitted.
I've had Stardock central since early 2003. But I think that is about the time Steam was released as well.
It will center the map on the starbase, but the pop-up asking whether you want to fix it appears over the starbase, so you often can't tell what it is anyway. LOL
As a side note, can anyone tell me how to get my posts to show up in the right place? I went to the mod board and created the post, but my post isn't showing there. When you create the post, the pulldown menus on top of the text box show you where your post will go. Just edit the post, and change it
Darth Evanesce, you need to update your video driver. I also got many save game crashes when I first started playing the game, but updating the video driver seemed to fix it (For some reason). I don't know why the video driver is important to the save game feature, but it seemed to work for me. (Your driver is even older than mine was, and we both had ATI cards.) Go to www.ATI.com and download their newest RADEON driver.
Funding from unused military produciton is not spent. Funding from unused social produciton is spent regardless, except in the 1.1 beta where it is diverted to military spending. I'm not sure if I explained this correctly, but there is more infomation on this in the developers journals.
I have found that occasional planets, with common habitable make a game without too much micro-managing. But abundant everything can be a very fun game too, but only near the end game when you have massive fleets that you wouldn't be able to build otherwise. (Since you wouldn't be able to have hundreds of planets.) Also the second tab from the right on the bottom of the screen brings up a menu to help manage your colonies. This is a lif
An artsy good looking ad with be hardly looked at, a cluttered ad with a lot of information , that is professionally laid out and presented yet artfully done will be stopped at and read. Your goal is to get the occassional gamer to the website where you can let him see the reviews and your screenshots, or the compulsive gamer to
Is it possible that they have very long range sensors in addition to their other souped up abilities? They do. They start he game with every technology other than logistics. (Makes them easier to defeat if you can gang up on them, since they can't build fleets until they research logistics.)
Back when I read game magazines, ads had to have pictures of the game. If it did not have pictures of the game itself, I would never think much about getting it. If it had pictures of sometihng that looked like it would be fun/interesting to do, I would want to try it out. (This was back in the Nintendo days, so I would go out and rent it.) Anyway, I would put pics of a fleet battle (Make sure you use GOOD looking ships though), Pics of t
