THIS GAME IS INCREDIBLE!

My life is gone!

I can't believe how incredible this game is. I'm at work and all I can think of is the time before I go home and play this game.

Do I play as the humans or am I going to create some new race? Who should I play against? The sinister Drengin or the back stabbing Korx or some random selection?

Do I go for having huge fleets of fighters or should I go with capital ships?

And if that's not enough, I have the excitement in knowing that you guys are making more updates for this splendid game!

This is the best PC game I have ever played. I loved Civ 4. MOO2 is a classic. MOM is a classic. I still love those games. But this one surpasses them and it's getting better every week.

You guys have renewed my hope in PC gaming!

We're definitely glad you like it.

We've gotten some huge news in today:

The game is the #1 best selling software product at Walmart presently.  Not just #1 PC game, but #1 overall.  Same news coming in from Best Buy.

So much for the "you need massively copy protection to stop piracy" argument.  Here's a game with not even a CD check and it's obviously not hurting sales.  One might argue it's helping sales.

Yeah, I know how you feel. I've been laying in bed at night and sitting at work during the day thinking about what tweaks to make to my custom race, what techs to research first, what adjustments to make to my build order, how I want the ships to look, you get the idea.

I haven't been this into a game for a long time, especially a single player game. The only thing I would change would be to add optional tactical combat, but that's just me. I can see why some people wouldn't want it.

Overall, amazing job Stardock! I look forward to your updates and expansions. The future is very bright for this game!

Edit: Wow, that's amazing news Frogboy! Score one for the good guys!

Wow. That's seriously good news on Walmart.

Looks like the game community was starved for a good turn based MOO replacement. I know I have been. But wait a second guys, aren't turn based games dead? No mulitplayer? That doesn't work anymore!

Suits don't know a thing about gaming 'cause the only kinda game they play is politics. Pfft. Let 'em hang onto their statistics. I'm so glad Stardock took everything into their own hands and proved that the higher-ups in distro companies know jack about the community.

Yeah, I've been waiting for a TBS game this good for literally years. The game that got me into PC gaming in the first place was the original X-Com. TBS has never died. There just weren't any great TBS games to play, and I say that having tried most of them that were released. There have been a few decent ones, but nothing that could bring new players to the genre like this game has and will continue to do.

I agree. Thank you Star Dock for making such a great game. It has been a long time since I have had anything to look forward to, so it is nice to not be so grumpy all the time. I am happy that I get to go and play the game later. (I know, I am pathetic...) But you have done a great job on this.

I have limited playing time these days. I justed completed the second mission of the Dread Lords campaign last night on level Tough. Those Drengin troops are tough (or I'm just unlucky as I usually came in on the low end of the invasion odds)! It took 4 waves of 3000M shock troops using classic invasion (I like preserving planets) to take the main planet. I guess I should have used mass drivers or built the troop training super project. I can't wait to take on the Dread Lords! When do they first appear?

Let's hope Walmart sells lots of copies of GalCiv2! Good for Stardock and good for my Walmart stock!

What are the reorders looking like? Normally a big game makes a big splash at retail and then fades overtime. Since demand for GalCiv2 was under estimated (because it is an indie game) and it is getting good word of mouth are you expecting more sales in the second week/month compared to the first?

Congratulations, Stardock!

If you've read my post, "my friend wants to borrow my game" , in the general forum, you'll know that I've already decided to buy one more copy of the game so I can lend it to my friends, who wants to try the game out. (Of course, I will tell them that they only have 2 weeks of try before I need to lend the game to someone else; that way, they'll just go buy it themselves).

A quick question though, I am currently a college student living in a dorm and I really want to let my little brother at home play the game. I intend to install the game on my home (not dorm) computer and install the updates with the one serial number I have already. I know one can argue that its partial piracy, but I am only going to do this with my brother. So will this procedure somehow invalidate the game on my computer as to make it unplayable? Is it crucial that we don't play the game at the same time?

An advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I wouldn't worry too much about lending the game out

1) There's really no way to keep you from doing such, and
2) It's in SD's best interest- as long as you don't give it to someone who isn't going to buy it. Even if you did, they'd probably end up buying the expansion pack anyways- so SD still makes more profit.

SD isn't going to make money off people who pirate the software anyways- as 99% of them wouldn't buy the game in the first place. The only case where playing at the same time could be problematic is if MP came in, and they used the serials for that.

Just had a look on some "unsavory" websites. There are about 400 people illegally sharing/downloading GC2 on that one alone. Workmates really into his music piracy (he was nearly fired for downloading it in work) and has some sites like that bookmarked. Not a good thing, but sales are way way outstripping the piracy. I remember being told that apparently the new need for speed pc had over 50k illegal downloads in its first week and GC2 is selling nearly as well as it (and nfs:mw has a pain in the arse drm system. I manage a gaming center and we dont give out the disks, its a pain)

I think it is fantastic that a turn-based, single player game that doesn't even need the CD (let alone any piracy protection) is doing so well!

I'm fed up with every game released lately being some kind of WW2 multiplayer FPS, ADD-inducing RTS clickfest or a fantasy MMORPG that charges you $500 a month, each with 10 million product keys required before you can open the box.

It's so nice to see my favorite type of game slapping the mainstream around the face with a wet haddock.

Just saw the news item on UGO's review and read a post with Gamespot's review. Definite game of the year in the making.
