Reply to Middle-Button in Game Talk

I had to reset the middle button on my mouse in the configuration file from "scroll" to "middle button". Most mice are set so that hitting the middle button will set up a scroll function when you press them. (You see the double arrows appear in a word processor or so, and moving the mouse will scroll the document.) If you can change this to "middle button" this should fix it.

I like to conquer them, but only after I have traded for all of their influence and money. They always have lots of influence, so you can really increase your influence by taking that off of their hands. (I went from approximately 150K influence to approximately 500K influence in only a few turns this way)

It keeps the game from going over 100 fps. (frames per second) There was a problem with newer video cards overheating because they were being pushed too hard, so the developers added this to cut down on the random computer crashes that took place. It doesn't hurt anything, but it probably won't affect you unless you paid over $400 for your video card.

After reading the complaints about the AI attacking, I just realized that I have never been attacked by the AI, even though I have played a half dozen games or so. I have only been attacked by the Dreadlords during the campaign. I wonder if it is because I always have a strong military and a good trade network with the civs that they don't attack me?

Me too. It was annoying, because I didn't even know where they were. I was on a gigantic map, and they were out of my range. It only seems to happen with the minor races, although the Korx have done it once with me too.

I just had it happen again. What Bisio said is exactly what happened. I subverted some amount of the enemy, and ended up with less than I subverted. I had a huge amount of influence, and flipped 6-7 planets because of it. It seems kind of hollow, because I had worked hard to amost win a tech victory and now I have an influence victory that I didn't earn.

There seems to be an influence "flooding" glitch. Link to thread about this topic: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=105346 What happens is that one civilization will suddenly get insanely high influence throught the entire universe, causing every planet to go unstable. this usually corrects itself within one turn, but sometimes a few planets are turned because of this. This bug was also around in GC1, but I only saw it a few times there. I'm not sure what ca

Starbases are what make this game different from other Space Civs. I actually like them and enjoy them. It lets me play a game without ever going to war, and still winning. So I disagree with you, but I can understand if you want to remove them from the game with an option. Although they are such a big part of the game, I don't know how well that would work.

BlizzardGR, it sounds like a pretty big bug, maybe you should send it in to Stardock so that they can figure it out and fix it in the future. Like I said before this bug happened in GC1 as well, so they may have an idea what is causing it.

The lack of documentation is really the problem. Oh well, I will still get satisfaction out of beating the game, but I would like to get some credit for it as well. I don't understand why you can't just submit the game to the metaverse when it is over, without loggin on first. (I usually disconnect the computer from the internet when playing the game, so that Missy can use the internet. I don't have a switch or router or anything, so this is the way I can play and have her use the computer a

Same thing happened to me. The Altarians had almost infinite influence on the whole galaxy, but it lasted only one turn. I saved the game and was going to send it in as a bug, but then I remembered that this happened in GC1 as well, and I thought that it may just be a random event... Maybe I will still send it in.

That first bug you mention is annoying. I have gotten around it by renaming all of my upgrades. I.E. if my first fighter was an F1 Bug, my upgraded version would be F1A Bug. This works well, although you need to add the step of adding a letter to the name when you save it.

Obviously none of you have ever upgraded a navel ship, or anything for that matter. That is my job actually, and it is cheaper to upgrade a military vehicle than to build a new one, I am not sure what you are talking about... I would like to see the upgrade costs be the difference between the buying costs of the two vehicles though.

I have the same question, I think. How do you submit your scores to the Metaverse? GC1 seemed to be more conducive to this. I am near the end of a very long game, and I would like to submit the score when I finish. (I was an idiot and played a gigantic map with abundant everything, so I have like 200 planets and I only own about 15% of the galaxy. I am close to a technological victory though, so I should win...)

You could select the ship (or multiple ships by pressing control to select multiple ships - another feature I would love to have implemented.) and right click on the square on the map you want to launch at. Just an idea at how to implement this idea.

I see so many people complain about the tech trading that it worries me that you will change it. It doesn't need to be "fixed" as they say it does. It is my favorite part of this game that you can get "fair" market value for things. I like that friendly civs trade with each other. It helps me develop to trade techs with the computer as I play. It usually ends up that the good civs have similar techs because they trade with each other, and evil civs have similar techs because they trade with each
