Can you get the expansion via Stardock, or do you have to get the Collectors edition sold in stores.
Not on SD as yet but they say it will be. I have the original SotS and it is a very nice game that plays a bit slow. I understand the expansion adds needed depth.

I usually go with lasers. I have watched the AI since DL and their current weapon of choice seems to be laser more often than not, where it once was missiles. The AI is nothing if not cost conscious and the current bang for buck seems to be with lasers. One exception to this seems the sparrow missile. I sometimes wonder if it has been accidently left in the TA game
As for this turn-based "4X fantasy strategy game", that sounds very interesting. Can anyone name another game that something like this would be like? I just never have heard of a turn-based "4X fantasy strategy game" before??
I probably don't know enough to answer this but aren't most or all TB games 4X? I have heard that the new game will be a take off on Masters of Magic, a classic TB game that I never played but I assume it was 4X.
i just had the jagged knife event happen to me last game, and that was just 3 days ago.
Apparently, I misunderstood a post from Carielf on Jagged Knife. Said we wouldn't see the Jagged Knife again. Must have been referring to a text change.
Come on folks, try to punch in some games. I just joined, bringing with me 1.3 million points. I'll try talking some of the Orcas over as well. Second is in reach.
Waiting for TA to load up MV. I put up a game recently for DA but I am loving TA and my hearts not in the older games anymore. I will be going for the 50 game medal this year.
I for one am completely against the concept of minor races.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way but if you feel that way why not turn them off? I do. You can also turn off major events but if you want the major events I suppose you could get a minor without wanting one. I understood that the Jagged Knife has been taken out of the game but I may be mistaken about this. I have only had that event once in many games before the removal was announced (assuming I

I have been playing the demo and wondered if anyone else has tried the game? It is not a bad game but the tactical seems to be a bit clunky in the demo, is the full version better? Any other opinions on the game?
I love the idea of using survey ships instead of scouts... makes good sense!
I have found that there are more ways to play and win this game than any other game I have tried, mainly due to the different styles of play. I usually play smaller maps so I hardly ever build scout ships. I use the surveyor on auto to uncover everything and occasionally build more survey ships if I happen to be playing a bigger map. On a tiny to large map I build all colony ships on the
Why not simply have a Option that allows: Minor Races: 0 - No Colonization 1 - System Only Colonoization 2 - Unlimited Colonization
Nothing is ever simple. They can't just have a switch. If they allowed that the minor race would need better AI, they would need to be open to spy and probably a dozen other things that would come into play. I would just like to see them tweaked, including allowing them to flip under some circumstances and a revision of t

Hmmm, I'm not a great player by any means but I usually win at tough or below and I never lose the colony rush unless I have a total brain fart. From what I see the really good players are unconcerned with the colony rush and win by conquest regardless of how many planets they start with. Now with the original GC, I couldn't find my ass using both hands and always lost the planet rush.

It is huge for influence. On a tiny map put it on an influence bonus tile and a culture victory is a piece of cake.

I noticed that under editors an options is ship editor. I assume this means we will be able to design ships outside the game. That is outstanding and long overdue.
I changed it from 5% to 4%. So I was referring to the actual coefficient in the equation rather than the actual reduction of the maintenance itself when I said that it was lowered by 1%.
So the reduction is actually 20% :) That's nice, thanks
O.K. help me out here guys.
I may be misunderstanding your question but if the problem is having ships available for other races all you have to do is choose another race ship style under the appearance tab and all the mods and ships will be available for the race you pick.

but it seems a bit curious. I just finished a game as The Korx with a quick culture victory. Every choice I made was neutral except for one good choice. Nevertheless, at the end I was rated evil for the game. Not that I care but I was wondering if you are stuck with then default race ethic if Xeno Ethics is not researched before the game ends. I don't recall seeing this before but usually I tend to lean evil

IMO resources are huge. I would take the resource over almost any planet in most cases. Naturally, there are exceptions if habitable planets are rare or you badly need more presence in the sector
Hey Franco. Who or what are the Tines?
The Tines are a fascinating telepathic canine species dreamed up by Verner Vinge in A Fire Upon The Deep. A single dog is just a dog but in units of up to five they are a sentient entity and equal to humans in intelligence. If you like scifi novels and haven't read Vinge you are in for a tteat with this or any of his books and short stories

The minors are an exploit imo. Their behavior and trading is downright weird. They need some serious tweaking. They should be flippable as they once were. After all, in a real universe they would be the most likely to succumb to culture. They should have penalties applied that would apply to real minor civs but still allowed to expand somewhat. They are currently trading whores for everyone and cannon fodder for agressive players.
Mars is too light to hold an Earth temperature atmosphere for any apperciable length of time
I don't doubt that you are correct, the problem is one of filling a leaking container. However, I read somewhere that if you could instantly pump the moon up to 1 eartn atmosphere, it would remain breathable for about 2000 years, (I didn't do the math). That's long enough to be useful in people years, but in cosmic terms it is a moment. I don't recall the number for Mars but I bel

You could theoretically overcome all the limitations with time and tech but those limitations certainly apply to any planet that would be logically terraformed by a civilization less than 3 on the K scale. A type 3 civilization could choose planets based on desired location and make it any way they wanted it, but why waste the energy, just move a more suitable planet where you want it to be. :) In the foreseeable future (probably thousands of years) the primary requirement for terrafor
The square-cube law says otherwise.
Good point, being tiny and buglike would be the more effective way, but immense strength relative to size would be helpful. Then, I have never read that the Drath are immensely strong just dragonlike. :)
