Well....Impulse did not offer an uninstall option for the beta after updating. No matter it seems to have installed fine. I did read this in time to rename the options folder
A few questions... 1) What is the Metaverse? I saw it was disabled in demo but it said something about competing? That sounds fun. 2) I noticed some of the factions pictures on the diplomacy screen were animated, and some weren't. Are most of them animated, or not? Just curious because I find the animated ones MUCH more attractive. It is a small detail, but it definently adds ALOT in my opinion. Makes them feel.. alive? 3) Does the Ultimate bundle come with th
I see the Intelligent Design thing as a missed opportunity. It should be a way to resolve differences. Unfortunately the "theory" has been hijacked and for all practical purposes it has become nothing more than another name for creationism. I have come to believe that our existence consists of the intellectual, the physical, and the spiritual. The intellectual and physical are the indigenous yin yang dualism that make us sentient beings. To become a more complete pers
Can Trade Goods be repealed? If I offer Xinathium Hull Plating to someone but later want to revoke the bonus it gives them, can I? If I am, in fact, trading "goods" and not the technology itself, I should be able to stop sending those goods at any time I please. Will Trade Embargo do this?
This is rightfully irrevocable.
I'm trying the demo, so far it seems to be a decent game, if they patch it up enough to fix the problems that are being reported in their forum I just may buy the thing.
I bought it and all I can say is it is barely okay for the low price. They did release a patch that helped some of the problems and added a couple of helpful features but it needs more patching to get it where it needs to be. Sadly, it appears that Paradox has dropped it and the devs (Pollux Gamelabs) se
You can edit the agressiveness of each race with a slider before the game. I have never tried it so I don't know for sure how it would affect their behavior but it is independent of difficulty level and most races are not at max agressiveness by default. I suspect that on the lowest difficulty levels they will still be passive due to stupidity more than anything else.
No object bar? :) I guess it could be there un revealed. Mine is messy but I am not really a widget fan.
I am this. Seven digits need not apply.
Now I realize that's a tough game development challenge--could an empire game without survivability being tied to conquest even be made fun?
Well , this is certainly possible with GCII. I am not saying it is the best way to play or the most fun but many of my games are won without a single war or conquest. Expansion is neccessary and the ability to defend oneself is usually critical but war and conquest are not neccessary.
I DO NOT THINK A BUCH OF RELIGOUS PEACE LOVING PEOPLE HOW LOOK EXACTLY LIKE YOU, WOULD INVADE YOUR PLANETS, WHICH WOULD MEAN KILLING AND DESTROYING THINGS. SINCE WHEN DOES THIS FIT THE ALTARIANS PROFILE!
You have a point and you can do something about it. When you choose the Altarians as an opponent you you can go to edit and move the agressiveness slider as low as you wish. All races are by default at least moderately agressive. At low agressive they will perform the way
I see what you are doing now. If you have all the minaturization techs you might have enough space to add 4-5 colony pods that would take population off of the planet but you would have to put the population in your description. This would also be a solution for overpopulation that would beat parking colony ships on the edge of the map or blowing them up. Still, no way to add an income factor. Not what you want but another way of looking at it.
My tholian space city has a crew of 1200. Which may be enough to operate the ship, But what about the 1,000,000 plus residents of these cities.
I guess you mean the star bases. I have never noticed any population mentioned or associated with star bases. If we are just assuming for the story's sake there are civilians populating star bases in addition to crew, they probably maintain their residence on a planet and pay taxes there. After all, they are working bases and no
I guess I'll be scratching it off the list. Ah well, guess I just saved some money.
A wise decision. As a remorseful buyer, I will be watching the patches and hoping. If they fix it, (and I think it could be fixed) it could be a nice diversion for the price but it is badly flawed for SP at this point.
But in a strategy game, where most people are trying to play it single-player, it still needs to be looked at but also prioritized in with a lot of other variables.
Reminds me of a recent comment from a DEV of the new TBS LEI. When told that the AI is so imperfect that it makes the game almost unplayable he replied, "Well, that doesn't matter in MP, does it?"
Just a few suggestion. You can, of course turn off cultural victory but I assume you have done that. You can also avoid choosing any influence abilities when you start the game, avoid building cultural improvements like embassies, Rest. of eternity etc, and do not reaserch influence techs. In the highly unlikely event you get a flip after following this strategy, you could just gift the planet back to the original owner after building a couple of embassies. hard to u
However, if you really like Space Empires 4 and 5, the game feels about the same. In fact, it feels identical. For me, this type of games basically feels like an excel spreadsheet with a thin coat of paint on it, and I'm overall very disappointed from the purchase. Be advised and spread the word.
I downloaded the demo and it reminds me more of MoO2 with a little bit of updating. I can see what you are saying about the similarity with SE5 but not being an SE fan I like LE
Well, after following this lenghty thread for a couple of years I feel I can confidently claim the title of oldest member. I am 68. Nice to be number one at something :)
I have kids and grand children and none of them are in love with TBS games. They are mostly into xbox 360 and one older boy that plays Eve a lot. My advice is to quit school grow a beard and get a middle management job :)
in my gmae it said "woe to all the dread lords have arrived" and so far nothing has happened lol.
The DL are slow to develop in this event. They start out with one planet with a population of about 6 souls and no ships. The popped up near me in a game and I sent one transport over and ened that threat once and for all. Left ignored I guess they could become a problem but their production and pop is as slow as molasses even in the scenarios where they start out wi

If you are playing on the high difficulty levels they will pick. They get shorted on the easier levels. I think you can pick for them by selecting and saving
The recruiting center and starport strategy is good but on a large map I beef up production on my home planet to produce a colony ship every 5 turns from the get go. Researching the right techs etc. will soon have that up to one ship every 3 turns and the 250 population hit does not kill the planet. I will eventually use outer rim planets for colony ships but not until the have at least 6 bil population. Even then I might not put but 100 aboard. I only play on tough so I don't
Lots of ways to play and that is one of them. My tendency is to -play neutral with high influnce and diplomacy. On small maps this approach and pacifict is quite effective. However you have to maintain a strong military if you want a military victory over the last AI standing. They will eventually come for you and you better be ready. An influence victory is usually a piece of cake on a small map and you can usually do it without ever building any military at all.
