I've had the AI surrender to me a few times. It's not common though.

I never really play with the appearence of my ships, but Kyro is right - designing your own ships is crucial.
Well megaloob I guess we have different play styles. All I can tell you for sure is that getting it early on when you're playing a gigantic map is NOT a waste of resources! Putting weapons and armour on them is daft. OK, random, so you have dedicated sensor ships to build. EoTU is cheap; it costs about as much to build as, say, 3 good,
Between rising demand, lack of new supply and the never-ending search for new ways to raise tax monies, your gas prices will soon look like ours do now. I ride my bicycle to work...
I think it's more like $7 for a gallon here, but US gallons are slightly smaller.
Good question. But I think your "friend" would turn on you long before the issue became relevant. Perhaps you could do it by sponsoring 2 or more minors and manipulating them against each other as well as the majors. Could be an interesting game. Let us know how it works out.
Well GC3 is supposed to be getting tactical combat...
Ono, your ideas are good. In fact there have been enough good ideas posted in this forum to last Brad & co. up to about Galactic Civilisations 7! But they are only a small team and there's only so much that they can do with the resources they have available. They can't put in even a tiny fraction of the feature requests that have been posted in here. There's also the problem of game balance. There are lots of nifty ideas I have seen that would be so cool to have in the g
Yes most of us do, but is it unbalancing? IMO, yes. Those ships with 15 sensor range cannot pack as many weapons or armour, so they need to be defended, and there will be far fewer of them. The advantage of having every ship have a huge sensor range is tremendous, espcially early on in the game. The strategic advantage it gives is im
It just makes sense, Does it make sense that you can fit larger and better fire-control and predictive analysis computers on a bigger ship...?
That post makes me really look forward to GC3 ;o)
I think you're being a bit naive if you expect them to be E450 at launch. Plus Sony still dont' seem to have so much as a working demo model...
I build economic starbases wherever I can cover 3 or more planets with them (or 2 if they're both good ones). And always one to cover my home plaent to boost up the trade income.
I think frogboy said that GC2 was supposed to be a strategy game.
I go to considerable effort to have as small a list of ship-types as possible. I usually have 1-2 types of constructor, a freighter class, and 1 each of small, medium and large military hulls which are as technologically advanced as possible. The "upgrade all ships of this type" option is my friend!
Erm, what do you think the missile weapons are? If a warhead with a black hole in it does 16 points of damage, then even 3 or 4 points would equal a multi-megatonne explosion.
Wow, I've never seen anything like that happen!
This boosted their ships so much that they were able to survive. One of my favourite tactics. Much better than trying to give them state-of-the-art warships.
That seems like a reasonable possibility, but I think you'd have to demonstrate that enough people would want it, and there would have to be quite a few thousand to make it pay. We're told that >100,000 copies of the game have been sold. If we optimistically assume that half of them are still being played regularly, then around 20% of the gaming population would have to be prepared to stump up the $10-20 required with no gauruntee of receiving anything. That's a pretty high proportion! <br
I'd quite like a fade from green to red. If it's fully green you definately get a deal, if it's fully red, you'll never get a deal. In between, the chance of getting a deal depends on how close you are to the fully green side. If you make a failed deal, you can't make another offer until the next turn. That would mean that if you definately wanted a deal, you'd have
For me, it was a strange fungus ripping through a few of my colonies. Wow, I've never seen that one! *shiver* Untimely wars are my biggest bugbear.
I look forward to the AI being sneaky and vicious enough to pull off surprise attacks like that.
280 planets! You must admit that is an extreme case
And you can go back to whining until you get the special treatment you like and insulting people who give you answers you don't like. People don't get flamed for asking about multiplayer. They do get flamed for refusing to accept that a decision has been made, for insulting the skills and intelligence of those who made the decision, and for just not accepting that they're not going to get their own way. I noticed that you made no response to my suggestion on #34.
Then the Korx, they had some of the most powerful ships I have ever seen in GalCiv2. I am talking 50+ attack rating and 30+ shields! Um, by the time you're thinking about tech victory, you should have maxed out at least one weapon tech. A huge ship should be able to mount 6 or 7 black-hole disruptors or doom rays easily. After bonuses, it's not
