Well, there are more ships, starbases, rally points, trade routes, developed planets, exposed tiles, and potentially even races, later in the game than earlier. It is obviously going to require more system resources to track and display that. BTW, that is no longer a "pretty good" computer. It is much closer to an entry level gaming computer these days. (although sad truth be told, it is better than mine).

Are you trading with the AI? They are very willing. I've even had them sell me their defense force (we weren't at war) which I sold to their enemies (for a profit).
If each player could put 4 per sector that wouldn't be bad. If you could lock a player out by squatting on sites early, though...
Every starport that isn't building something immediately begins to construct the new ship. Why in the world do you have starports sitting idle?
I disagree, Spearthrower. You may honestly think a feature is supposed to be working a certain way because there is only one sane way that you think someone would ever implement it. When you see it not working that way, in your mind it has to be a bug, because there is no way someone would have thought that was a good idea to implement it the way it was. Even when told that it is intentional you have to shake your head and wonder. The game develop
I too have seen this. Like you I was playing a gigantic map and knew that I had a few more to clean up as well a a big secotr of the map with no stars in it that likely had a few more to nab. All gone when I came back the game last night.
These entries may just be holdovers from previous versions and not planned for future use.
A feature that many players hate should be complained about. If nobody complains then it won't be changed.
Why is this not considered an evil act that moves your Civ toward evil Not under many religions it's not. Killing the heretic and infidel is one of the most holy things you can do.
You can declare war if you want. Nothing's stopping you.
Well, Spearthrower, there is at least one in this thread who agrees with you.
This is very much an exploit as you can rush buy hundreds of thousands of BCs worth of upgrades for 2000 BC.
I like huge, tight clusters, everything occasional, slow tech. Yes, you do get big swaths of useless space.
I think Historic Friendship has to do with the backstory.
Are they beneficial in battle? No, they take up space that could be used by more weapons or shields. Hold on there, Warp, that's not the whole story. They do allow you to have more battles as you can have a battle for every move that your ship can make. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" al
Devalueing techs prices by how many races (include the minors in here) already know it might solve some of these issues. You won't make as big a profit from selling the tech to everyone (as is my current scheme - if I sell it to one, I may as well sell it to all or the AI will). This does does mean that the AIs (and you) will have an easier time staying at tech parity, though (whether this is good or bad depends on your viewpoint).
But in the next patch (or soon anyway) they are going to install a 3 starbase per sector restriction which the AI will also follow. Really? I'd hate this. Part of my strategy involves use of starbases all over my empire (often many more than 3 per sector). I guess I'll have to adapt...
I think that GC3 should hide every number that is remotely possible to hide (obviously your bank account can't be) from the player.
Many of the core designs can not be built from scrathc when you first unlock the techs.
Buy modified scouts and colony ships to grab more the galaxy early. Trade with the AI. Trade Techs. Build economic improvements and starbases.
MM, it starts a game with this button set at the way it was when you last played. If you just finished a long game and had it on in the end game (like I usually do), then the next game you start will have it on.
They generate influence on their own/
I've been watching the AI scouting and it is kinda weird. I saw two races' scouts come through my territory. Rather than going start to star mapping the planets. They went in a train 4 long (both teams) about 10 parsecs apart. This just went in a more or less straight line through my territory. If (as has been alledged) the AI needs to scout before sending in colony ships and constructors, this seems really suboptimal.
And what is they didn't agree to it? Personally, I see this as analogous to the seas (especially in the Era of Colonization and Imperialism). The oceans are big and your authority ends where you actually put ships.
I have yet to see a game where I wasn't the first and only to research this line of the tech tree. SInce it gives obvious advantages, why doesn't the AI give any weight to it (especially those that are strongly aligned)?
