I cant remember exactly what I wrote back then, but that was a good while ago, and compared to my current tactics isnt that great. Things have been refined.
Share?

Cool. The last game I played I wanted to take everylast single planet by force. I was allied with another race that controlled 1/4 of the galaxy. Next thing I know....diplo victory. I felt cheated....those planets were MINE!!!! I could have gone back to the last autosave but I wanted to move on. Playing this game with the Yor for the first time. They dont get much tech in economics, do they?
I am playing a game where I have turned off ALL victory conditions, Influence, Ascension, Technologocal....etc. I want a total conquest victory 1) I have allied with one race to help me in this (Korx). My question is after I kill all the other races and it is just me and the Korx, will I acheive a Diplomacy victory? Will I have to break my alliance before conquering the last planet that does not belong to either of us or will the computer know I turned off all victory conditions an
KzintiPatriarch did a step by step breakdown of one at the ToE site and I did a "recipe" for the 100k+ ones in our empire forums.
Sorry, but whats the ToE site?
I believe it is set up on a tiny map with one opponent This is a quote from KzintiPatriarch on another thread when I asked how to win on suicidal: "Lately at least, there are two dominant strategies which people have been using. The ZYW (Zero Year Win) and "Swindle". The first is a superfast rush to destroy the enemy AI within the first year...13 turns being optimal for scoring, and usually using Spore. And the l
What are your favorite combos of Tech Tree/Abilities/Super Abilities and why?
I played with the Terrans for the first time this weekend. Is it me or does having the Super Diplomat allow you to speak with the AI mor often? I only seemed to have to wait 4-5 turns before I could talk to someone again, where as before it seemed like double that.
In the early game I fill the SCC planet with cargo hulls maxed out with nothing but weapons.
I read somewhere this was a ploy to beef up military, I tried it. It was neat to see my military rating on the 'Stats and Graphs' screen skyrocket as compared to others. Hmmmm, but to me this seems like a flaw in the AI, is it not. Shouldn'y the AI recognize the ship has one hp? How would Cargo hulls fare in combat with one hp even though they got buku weapons? A
Hey I noticed something. I built a Spin Control Center for the first time. Two of the races switched to close immediately after I put ship where it was built. I read the description. How are good ways to put it to use? Does the SCC affect diplomacy that much?
In the game I'm playing all the AI races (7 out of nine) have all been stuck on 'friendly' at the diplomacy screen for a couple of years now. Every chance I get to speak to them I gift them cash and/or trade with them. I have trade routes extablished with most. It has never taken this long for not even one of the AI to to be at 'close relations'. I am playing one level above normal difficulty. Any ideas?
Colony screen ---> Details ---> Governor
Thats it. I personally turn these options off as soon as I get a new planet so as not to have 20 planets upgrading at once and using my resources
Are you sure its one of the regular races? There are several random events such as The Peacekeepers or a Precursor ship that pop up from time to time. Their ships have firepower like that. If its a Peacekeeper, dont attack anybody cuz then they attack you. I think there might be a Pirate event also. It sounds like one of these events has been triggered. The attack power of 27 sounds real familiar......hmmmm. click on the ship and see.
Ok. I just went started and an immense. Nope. Not ready for that.
So you know though...games where you build everything up, lovingly called "Mumblers" after a GC player that excels at them, are EXTREMELY tedious and have lots of micromanagement.
Cool. I dont mind doing that. I play that style anyway, just on small maps. I am gonna start at immense tonight for the first time. Would I be correct in saying this game could take a month?
WHich would be worth more point wise 1) Immense galaxy where I took the time to take EVERY planet via conquest and built up each of them up with the max infrastructure possible and cranked out as many warships as possible or, 2) Immense galaxy where I conquest the galaxy in the shortest amount of time possible and only have enough infrastructure and ships to do so
Hmmmm, I cant find an answer to this on the Meta threads. Does galaxy size factor into your final score for a game? Do you get more point for a larger map? Cuz right now I only play small.
If youre into playing the game just for the sole purpose to have fun, Beta's may not be your bag.
That would be me. I work as a quality assurance specialist where my sole function is to find shit that is wrong, correct it, and make sure it does not happen again. There is no way I would like that in a game I play for pure fun.
I still say the game would be better if you started with nothing, and you had to research to build anything. (constructors, scouts, and colony ships...)
Hmmmmm, good point. I think that would be interesting to implement in a mod. I guess it is not that way because the of the story behind the game. This game just deals with races that are already spacefaring cuz the dumb Terrans gave hyperdrive away.
I'm a late convert to upgrading my free mining ship to a colonizer, but since I started doing that I've had a casual conviction that it's worth more in the long run to get that third colony founded ASAP.
I agree %100. For my last couple of games I have immediately upgraded the miner to a colony ship. This was very important in one game I played. I was headed to a planet and saw another colony headed the same way. I got to the planet first (by 2 parsecs). It was a QP1
And just think, you can drastically reduce normal events in the 2.0 beta
Speaking of beta 2.0.......worth getting? Or should one wait till completly play tested and finished.
I think the trick is to find one that matches your personality and go with that one. Don't be rushed into it though. There's plenty of time to chhose the best fit.
Can u only join one? I just checked my personal email and saw I have 4 invites to join empires. I was looking at some of the top scores of the highest ranked players in these empires. It seems most of these games were played v1.80g Dark Avatar (Dark Avatar) including Kzinti. Is there
LedZerggelin, I notice that you haven't yet joined an empire.
Empires lets newbs in? How do they work?
The AI is completely incapable of dealing with either strategy and has virtualy 0% chance to win. So if you just want to simply win and score points these two are likely the best.
Ok. I know I wont try these cuz I dont like exploiting gliches. I'd rather play a fair game and lose. It does seem to me that the AI can be a little retarded when trading. Does the AI get better at it as the difficulty increases cuz right now I'm still playing lo
@Silverbeacher and Mottikhan What settings do you guys use when you are beating the game at Suicidal? And how the hell do you do it.
Cool, thanx for the info. I did get the Very Evil correct. [e digicons]}:)[/e] Follow up question: If you play on different difficulty levels will it take the average of said levels? Does the same apply for alignment? Or does it just show what level and/or alignment you play the most. I'll go read the metaverse threads now so I'm not redundant posting.
