You know that stars are much, MUCH bigger than planets and therefore destroying a planet should be 'piece of cake' when you can destroy a star!?
Explanation 1: The Terror Star is a directed Artificial Gravity weapon. The primary weapon must be able to penetrate to the core of a star for maximum effect, and therefore due to the extremely low mass of planets, such directed energy simply passes right through them. The weapon's purpose is to simply artificially increase the m

Aye, I think it's too easy to placate the AIs in the game. A little bit of diplomacy, a trade route, maybe the occasional treaty, and you'll never be bothered by an AI for the rest of the game. Negatives should be FAR more 'powerful' than positive aspects. Honestly if my neighbor has a massive military building up on my border and has just wiped out another civilization, I don't really give a crap about my trade agreements at that point...
Hey, Verkinix. Good question; easy answer. Any improvement that gives a +(points) will receive the bonus. Any improvement that gives a +(%) will not.
Is that why Influence and Morale buildings give a +% bonus, and ARE affected by their respective bonus tiles? :) That this inconsistency could be causing these questions is not a foreign thought to me...
It was in the beta for about one patch cycle, before it was strangely removed. I never played it at the time, but I wouldn't be surprised if between the tech tree changes and some of the more extreme modifications, the campaigns were simply 'broken'.

I prefer just to play regularly :) It puts me at a disadvantage and I'll never win against a Suicidal enemy, but to use 'All-X' is just another way of cheating to me.
I swear i'm just about ready to dive into the tech file(s) and slap lower research points values to this whole group unless someone gives me a good reason not to beside being such an impatient person - for power - that maybe isn't worth half its cost - when all i want - is to see a freak devilish show - of some newly made asteroids!
I'm suddenly tempted to start my 'slower tech tree' mod early just to spite you :D
The Korath beam weapon tree is, in my opinion, overpowered. IIRC, they have some tech right after Lasers where most others have Plasma weapons, that instead lets them leapfrog technologically. Playing against them usually ends up with them having a ridiculous military rating due to their little ships with 30 laser attack on them, and everyone else has, as you noticed, 5 or 6.
Use the mousewheel.
And seeing how powerful diplomacy is now, I'm real interested in creating a race with eco/diplo in mind... and funding the galaxy to take itself out. Man ideas ideas ideas.
You'll like the Drath then :D One of my favorite races.
I think it 'broke' the campaign too much. During the beta, it was in for a brief time, then removed a patch later... unsure why.
Well, this is not really a bug, but it's "bugging" me. Why aren there shortcuts to the very cool Editor tools? During the installation I kinda hoped they would show up on the menu. Be proud of those!!! They're very cool. Also, a race design editor, along the lines of the other editors might be good. Just a thought. Thus far I haven't had any notable experinces, yet. But then, I'm just getting into it so stay tuned. By the way, nice opening movie!!! The woman who does the VO has
I decided to repost this, as it's somewhat good-to-know information that likely isn't obvious at all to 99% of the users who want to play with editing techs. ------ Nearly every technology references a 'master' tech tree. This tree is found under Twilight/Data/English/TechTree.xml . The 'master' defines many constants for every tech. Note that I said NEARLY every technology. Keep in mind that this tech tree is by and large the very
"Custom Candidate?"
Addendum: My bad, you cannot open the master techtree.xml in the tech tree editor by default. If you'd like to make changes to the master using the editor, you'll have to add the following HIGHLIGHTED lines in the appropriate places. If you're confu
what's the deal with tech trees? do the race specific ones still reference the main one or is each tree completely different?-Dave
To answer your question a bit better, yes, they all reference a 'master' tech tree. Found under Data/English/TechTree.xml, the 'master' defines many constants for every tech. Several race-specific unique techs are listed under their individual trees (ie: Invisible Hand is only under Data/English/TechTrees/DrathTechTree.xml, and is not found in
(Stupid broken edit) If creating a new tech tree is such a pain in the ass, just go fine the XTechTree.xml and copy-paste another tree into it. Do it the old fashioned way.

How profound!
Ironically, the PC developers who get closed down historically were the most highly successful.I mean, sheesh, Black Isle? Who the hell saw THAT coming?Everybody who followed how badly Interplay was doing. BIS was doing fine, just not fine enough to save Interplay
BIS was the only studio making any MONEY for Interplay. That's like cutting off your nose just to spite your face.
Good job completely avoiding, ignoring, and/or utterly failing to even pretend you were able to grasp a single iota of the point. I have history backing up my point - you have nothing but blissful ignorance and some surreal idea that putting a dollar sign on everything is nothing but good news.
The problem with the Horse Armor issue isn't that they were selling it. It's that it isn't worth paying for; it was clearly a sleazy attempt to extort money from people. Compare this to Rock Band, where they sell something that is actually worth paying money for. That's a fair exchange of money and product.
Here's the thing. I have a solid source of revenue and few expenses, but I'm not a retard with my money. Most people ARE retards with their money, however, and that's
Complete waste - bonus tile only boosts structures that produce points. A tech capital or research coordinator does not directly produce points, so they don't get boosted.
It's interesting that this behavior isn't universal though - influence and morale are +% bonuses, so it's not unreasonable to assume that tech and industry would work that way too...
More importantly, how many new comers to GC2 and this forum have left the forums as all they could see on the recent list was religious and political threads.
None? Seriously, what the hell kind of point is that?
