If Robert Altman, CEO of Bethesda, posted in person, he'd be assuaged with flames about how he ruined Elder Scrolls and fucked up Fallout. If the CEO of EA posted in person, he'd pretty much get the same treatment. Here, the CEO posts, and gets greeted, discusses his games, and is told he's the future savior of PC gaming :) Anyway, if I had to complain about GC2, it'd be: 1- The crappy UI. Honestly. It's terrible. 2- Tech tree is too 'linear' in terms of s

Frogboy, I play on the 'Challenging' setting, and I've noticed that certain AI's just always do better. Usually the influence-based AI's do far better than any other. I've noticed that in every game, the Korx, Iconians, and Arceans are almost completely inept. They need SERIOUS help. I've never seen them do anything except whine and get conquered. The Drath do 'okay', and the Drengin and Korath do pretty good (but the Korath don't abuse their super ability as much as they shoul

One thing I did notice is that Metaverse games, people manage to play on the hardest difficulty, but usually on: 1) Tiny maps 2) As Korath So it negates the AI's percentage advantage, and their race has such a ridiculously overpowered ability it evens the playing field overall. I would say yes, playing a real game on Suicidal is pretty much impossible without some form of 'metagaming' (ie: 'abusing' rules, like selling AI's planets deep in your influence just to fl
I mention this because I've noticed the Yor AI has a problem with how I play. Maybe its intentional that they don't care about their troops - they're probably made from old soup cans - but the Yor went to the Zap Brannigan school of conquest.
Oh man. Points++ for that.

I have a PQ30 planet that has a 700% research tile, is covered with Discovery Spheres, has a Research Coordinator, Technology Capital, a handful of defensive improvements, and pumps out hundreds of research points a turn. I also have a diplomacy ability that is pretty much ten times better than anyone else's in the game. The AI won't pay anything more than a couple hundred credits for this planet. I have a Precursor Ranger, that is far beyond the capabilities of any military
I know the tech trees are all race customized but I found that effect to be largely homogenized later game due to extensive trading between races.
I turned off tech trading for this reason, but the end result is just as painful in the other direction - no tech trading removes a pretty vital part of the game. My preferred fix is that if you do not have the tech on your tech tree, you should not be able to trade for it. This will eliminate unique tech acquisition,

Litcube - well, our problems might not be related as much, you said yours just *POOF* go away - mine go away due to major code mixups that I can recreate, and it's done by my action. At any rate, my problem could be solved by using unique ID's to flag ship designs, not names.
On my main machine it's not an issue (about 20 seconds for immense) but my laptop takes quite a while longer, even on small maps. More than once I thought it simply locked up under the stress. So, yes, an indication of "I'm still alive" would be nice. Maybe a progress like in the Dominions map generator (who tells you at what step in the process it is).
The length of loading actually depends a lot on the complexity of your ship designs! For a while I created absol
I'm going through all the civs with AI updates and such but are there any civilizations in particular you would like me to take a look at in depth and if so, what changes would you guys like to see? Also, I want to reassure you all that just because Twilight of the Arnor gets released doesn't mean we won't be doing updates. I LOVE working on the AI and doing updates. I'd do it for free. Twilight of the Arnor is simply the last thing we currently plan to charge for. It doesn't mean it'
All of the sudden, two of my ship designs go missing. Anyone know why this would occur? I did not delete the designs. I reloaded, and after the same turn, my designs go missing again, so it's recreatable.Have you encountered the plague/disease event? One of the two reduces all your abilities, so designs that require miniaturization will be unavailable until you cure it.
Kryo I have the same bug. It occurs mostly with upgrading and replacing ship designs. It's really qu
We're going to announce our finalize beta and release schedule shortly. Release Date is April. Part of that reason is we're upgrading our back end to have new features (like Impulse) and the other part is that I really want as much time as I can get away with to keep tweaking the computer AI before I have to move on to The Political Machine.
Not to be patronizing, but are the 6 BILLION little obvious bugs that have crept through every patch going to be fixed by then?
Well, yeah, the more tiles are available the higher the chance of one being there. Doesn't also the trait Luck play a role in its appearance? ( at least on the home planet)
99% of the PQ13+ planets I get have NO bonus tiles at ALL.

Neh. I thought the single player campaign was atrocious and boring. Sure the story was pretty decent, but every mission was fought the same. It was pretty much you vs. an AI who already had a base. Since you got damn-near all the techs by the halfway point of each campaign anyway, it was just 'build carriers/battlecruisers/guardians, attack-move'. Honestly, they couldn't have made more boring missions if they TRIED. I ended up cheating through half of them because they were the same cra

Forum ate my post - I'll reiterate what someone said earlier - it wouldn't hurt to have multiple constructor modules on a single hull, especially since it can take 12 constructors in the midgame to make a starbase even somewhat useful.
Uranium-235. Just click on the "x" underneath the action items. They disappear, and there is only one click. When you do see an item that is useful (helps me on huge or massive maps to locate planets), then you can "use it" (click on it and it will locate the item of action if it is that type of message), and then "x" the rest. Simple, huh?
That doesn't really have anything to do with the popups... yeah you can use it in lieu of the GNN screen we have NOW, but it's not li
They haven't pushed out a build yet to my knowledge that was world-ending buggy.
If I had a bone to pick with Stardock, it'd be this. Yes, for the most part, none of their games have crippling bugs in them, but there's a list of minor bugs that's three miles long, most of which have been around since *DL* that have gone unfixed. They're mostly minor, cosmetic, or at best mildly annoying, but the sheer volume of them is what's wrong. It's like having a Ferrari th

Not really, I like ultra-mega-slow research myself, so that I get a chance to use technologies before they become obsolete. The only thing that seems to become seriously imbalanced though, are the Korath. Their tech tree has what I already consider a flaw - their beam weapons allows them to skip a LOT of technologies and go from Particle Beams to Disruptors in only two techs. This means that you can be fighting the Korath on even ground with low-tech weapons, and suddenly ships
Your "screenshot" showed 95 weeks to research enhanced miniaturization. Thats some slow research...
I mushed together photoshops using ntitial gametime, some old games, and some cheats. Notice how the Thalans are building one of their 'starter' buildings (ie: in Week 3 or prior), but I've already somehow declared war with the Iconians and have warships built? :P
