Yes. Make your own ships. And - do not make the mistake of thinking "just one other tech and i will build it".
I usually use the top-tier of whatever tech I need (for space/weight reasons), with a few exceptions. For example, my basic K-5A Diamondback corvette uses less efficient mass drivers, because using more efficient ones does nothing except give me two or three more units to work with, which I can do nothing practical with. So I therefore degrade them to a lower eff
Frogboy, I have tremendous respect for what you've done with GalCiv and I thank you for responding. But I'm sorry you are rude to someone who has supported your game so strongly for 14 years.
Oh please. He told me to go 'make my own game' in response to a suggestions / feedback thread. You got nothing, s0n. Oh and Elysion - yes, Tribes was the best MPFPS game ever made. I was more partial to Tribes 2 myself, mainly for the larger focus on more encompassing teampl

I certainly hope this is known, but if you put anything on Auto-Explore, even if they're two different ships in two different parts of the galaxy, on two different turns, they'll eventually smash together and begin exploring the same areas together. One ship will move all the way over to get to where the other one is, and they'll just start following the same auto-explore waypoints. Quite easy to duplicate. Just build some scouts and put them in auto-explore. It works nothing like it used

I always think of the 'improvements' as massive arcologies, hence why you can only have one factory on an entire continent. The resources it takes to build even a corvette-sized ship in a few weeks requires a massive industry infrastructure, hence enormous building dedicated to it. For reference - it takes eight months to build an F-15.
I wasn't aware it was a bug, I thougth they were just going for a slower-paced game!I've seen folks around here who would agree with this view and be happy about it. If I weren't still unwholesomely interested in posting the occasional Metaverse game, I might be among them, and I can still be persuaded that it's a feature, not a bug.
I'm all for slower tech speeds, but not like THIS where it just randomly adds hundreds of weeks to unrelated technologies....

Aye, I've yet to play TOTA since release. I honestly wish I could roll back to the last beta patch, it was the most playable state.
I'm wondering why there has been no word from the devs ? (new to forums, so is that normal?)This, imho, is a game breaking bug... especially if you have focused on being a small(er) empire with high tech.
It isn't, but it is. Frogboy and Kryo post frequently to many concerns, but they also somehow both were completely oblivious to the Mind Control Center bug that has been around for, literally, YEARS, and just about everyone who's played the game knows about. It's been d

If it bothers you that much, just shrink the components as small as you can, and design your ships in a way that fits the style you have in mind. Here's two shots from two different in-work frigates I have. The Terran 'Stiletto': The Drath 'Ketaka':
I think you are getting that the elements are dispersed by the explosion. Not that they elements were formed during the explosion. But it does not say anywhere that this is in exclusivity. Yes, some amount of nuclear fusion (the process that forms these elements) that happens during the explosion, but the process is on going. The larger the star, the heavier the gravity. The heavier the gravity, the more the atoms/etc... are smooshed together. The more they are pushed together, t
Seems like they covet them as much as we covet ours.
Except you're not seeing / haven't figured out that the AI are giving each other techs hand over fist behind the scenes, leaving you out of it.
Now (in ToA), I trade lots of ships to my friends -rather than techs. The only problem is: I notice that the races I'm giving ships to aren't moving them!
IIRC this is a bug when the ships are outside the AI's range. Move the ships into his system before you sell them.

1) The UI has a ton of really lousy design covering up even more lousy design. Get rid of the popups and consolidate more information into an easy-to-read single window. I don't need 45 popups about mining starbases. You already saw my thread on this (telling me to get bent, oddly). 2) Tech trading is miserable. Again, you already know about this as you told me to go to hell. But whatever. Make it so we have a few options on how to change trading that will restrict it in a way that stil
Every element in the galaxy heavier than Hydrogen was formed inside of STARS.
Wrong. The heavier elements form during the explosive finale. They are not formed via fusion in the core. Heck, don't take my word for it, go ask Wikipedia. The heaviest element that can be formed via fusion during the burning process is Iron and Nickel. Period. People actually use the fertility clinic? Usually by the time I get around to researching it, my planets are all mostly at max population anyway. Recruitment centers > Fertility clinic....
