I agree with dystopic's statement however it is key to note that population is KEY to everything else. Building a massive economy is EXTREMELY important for everything, and population is key for that. In my games I make sure I have 20K people on every single planet, and I will build 4 to 5 fertility clinics on most planets ASAP. The population score is always the lowest score for me, but that does NOT mean that population isn't important. - Livonya &nbs

To really get a into the 700K+ range you need to be thinking about score rather than about winning the game in the traditional sense. The keys to a very high score: 1) Defeat all but one empire (let them keep 1 planet) as soon as possible. No later than 3 years (1 to 2 years is optimal). 2) Build 24 fully upgraded Military Star Bases that all overlap on one area, and then move all of your ships to that area

It depends on what I can get away with. Family, friends, work, health, etc... Sometimes I do as much as 60, but sometimes I get 0. It really depends on other people's patience with my ridiculous habits. I only play PC games. - Livonya
You might be able to start building earlier than I do but given that your final military rating is less than mine and I reached my final military rating 3 years into the game and then held it for 5 years whereas you reach your final value only in the last year, there is no doubt in my mind that you will do better with an upgrade.
However, you are looking at the military score only. In order for you to get that score you sacrifice your tech score. So in o

Mumblefratz - Yeah, the maintenance must be vastly different. One 1/1 tiny ship costs 2 or 3 bc in maintenance My total maintenance at the end was like 450,000 BC per turn. But it took a long time to get up that high, and that was like 44K ships. I am not sure how easy it would be for me to post a screen shot. I have never done that before, and I don't actually use the internet on my game computer which is a PC at home. I do all my web stuff on my MAC at wo
For example in that last game I was really trying to hit the 1M mark and I tried playing out the game three separate ways. In one case I built a total of 34K ships but because of that could "only" successfully upgrade 15K ships. Add to this the diminishing returns that you get to your military ranking due to the increased number of ships and it's not surprising that in this scenario my military ranking went from 14.1M with 17K ships to 15.7M with 34K ships. Additionally because i

Mumblefratz - In truth I think the limiting factor is actually human patience. I personally believe that I could have gotten 2 million points with this game. However, the drudgery that would have been required was beyond the limits of my personal patience. There was a point in this game that I made a conscious decision about my score based on the limits of my patience. At that point I gave up on boosting my military score and instead focused on just finishin

Mumblefratz - I think the 2 million point game will be in TA. Looking at how Magnumaniac did with his million point game it seems that a much higher score should be possible there. I mean he got a million point game with these scores... Society - 141K Tech - 204K Econ - 382K Military - 435K There is clearly room for improvement in his military score, though I haven't actually done a TA game so maybe I am incorrect about that. Mayb

Well, I did manage to increase my score by quite a lot. I thought I would make 1.5 million but I was a bit short of that goal. These are the stats of the game as of December 22nd 2233. I posted the actual game on December 22nd 2224, but since I only got 24,500 points for that final year it was pretty much a waste of time. Drengin game - final score 1,432,550 (1,457,050 was final posted score) Society - 147,621 Tech - 221,328 Econ - 386,402 Military - 816

When people in the real world ask what I have been up to I don't mention hours of silly clicking with GCII. I would be embarrassed to tell most people how long I spent on this game. - Livonya
It would seem to me to be in best interest to also include the attack/defense/hitpoint values for all starbases as well.
I was curious about this. Last night I added some attack to some star bases to see how much it would change my military might. Nothing changed. I am pretty sure I have seen it change the military might in the past, but that was at a much lower military might. At 4 mil military might adding 30 attack to a star base appears to

Yeah, by quick victory I meant owning 99% of the planets as quickly as possible. The actual game should not end until year 7 or 8 or whenever gains no longer are coming from increased time. I have yet to try your method of bankrupting your society by updating 17K ships in 1 turn. That is still on my agenda. I think I will try that next. It sounds like a very efficient use of real time, as the rest of the game is simply pressing end turn. Very nice use of real time. <b

Mumblefratz - I definitely think that there is diminishing return for ships. This is one thing I learned from my million point game where I was forced to build 50K ships due to the fact that I could not do more research spending. I am working on a new game that I hope to have done in 2 weeks. I am doing something a bit different with this game. I really think the key to high scores is very quick victory, and a balanced approach between military and te
I wager it will be harder for a ZYW to retain top spot though, with the law of diminishing returns meaning each game scores less and less - whereas one more similar game from Livonya would breach 2 million total points.
I did some calculations and it appears that one more million point game would probably put me at around 1,800,000 total points. Due to the time that it takes to do these long games, and the declining value of each game, I think the top ten will pr
The other aspect is the build versus buy choice for producing your ships in the first place. Here the economics of DA versus DL come into play. Certainly in DL it's far more effective to go for a 100% stockmarket economy and merely buy your 1/1 fighter for under your military SB. In DL I get my income to about 1.3 million bc per turn and with that income I can buy in excess of 300 1/1 fighters per turn which then takes me a year to reach my 17K goal.
I don't think 1.3 mil

Actually, that wasn't correct. I just looked. I conquered the universe in August of 2228, which is much sooner than I stated. I should have done it by the end of the 2nd year, but I spent way too much energy boosting my initial tech spending and trading. I should have just put everything into violence and destruction. The next game is going to be a blood bath asap. - Livonya

I have been trying to break 1 million for some time. Last year I got discouraged when I got a cheat flag for a 800,000+ point game, and then while doing some tests I accidentally posted a 0 point loss to the Metaverse. I could live with the cheat flag, but the 0 point game loss just annoyed me. So I stopped playing Metaverse games. In May I decided to once again go for that 1 million point game. So I started again, but first I wiped my old scores. With my n

Mumblefratz - When I was playing the game I would end occasionally to see where I was at score wise. At around year 4 if I went with Beyond Mortality then I would get about 350,000 and it never went up again. I was shocked by that. Military Conquest continued to grow, but I saw no growth at all with Beyond Mortality for the rest of the game. There may be a hard cap, or it might just cap at some point based on when you start to research the Beyond Mortality line. I am not su

I just wanted to confirm that the technology score can pretty much be ignored. I just finished my first game where I got over 1 million points. My technology score was only 20,000 When I started the game I did not turn off Technology Victory. I didn't realize this until I had finished the researching all of the Tech trees. At that point I had to stop researching completely. So around year 3 my Tech spending went to 0 and my technology score never increased. <br/

You are correct, Herodias. The morale is ONLY re-calculated when you re-load or when you re-select the planet or when a new turn takes place. If you put spies on the morale buildings of the planet then the morale will ONLY change if you actually re-select the planet. I suspect that if you re-selected the planet after the 1st invasion then the morale would adjust and the 2nd invasion would not do much with information warfare. I believe this is a bug.

I haven't posted in a long time. I am still playing but haven't been posting to the Metaverse or posting. I have a very simple suggestion that would make a huge improvement to the Metaverse. It is very simple. Don't allow the player to choose victory conditions. This simple change would prevent the farming of points, and it would level the playing field between Gigantic and Tiny games. I find the games much more interesting

No, I haven't quit, but that last game was really, really, really boring. Playing for Metaverse scores is incredibly boring (which I have said long before this cheat flag event). CariELF gave me the situation where I could re-play the game, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to re-play it to see if I could figure out the cheat flag. I sent CariELF a few more save games to see if s/he could get a bit closer to the cheat flag problem, but never heard anything back.<br/

Kryo / CariElf - Okay, I just sent the save games. I included 7 save games. 1) Turn 1 2) 1 and 1/2 years into game 3) a few days before year 2 4) Dec 2229 5) Dec 2230 6) Dec 2231 7) End Game save Hopefully, you can figure out what tripped the cheat flag. - Livonya

Kryo/CariELF - I wasn't able to e-mail the save games last night, but I will get that to you over the weekend. I will be able to send you several save files. I have a save file from turn one before I even took a move, and then I have a save from the end of each year. I like to document my games so I can go back to reference what I did and how it played out. So I can send you something like 5 to 7 different save games that cover everything from turn 1
