How Many Hours a Week do you Devote to Games?

I thought it would be fun to take a quick informal poll on how many hours our members devote to playing games.  It’s probably hard for some to get an exact count of the hours, but I would be curious of a round-a-bout figure of your time invested per week.

I would mine is near the 20-25 hour mark but it’s hard to say for sure.  That does include all types of gaming whether it’s on a PC, console, or portable.

So what about you?

I only game on my PC, rarely do I play the Wii. I spend an average of 2 hours a day on weekdays now due to issues with my wife and our relationship (part of our "working on fixing our problems" program LOL) and probably about 4 on weekends (maybe more) so that puts me at about 18-20 hours a week now. Before I would play at least 4 hours a day (including till very late at night) and many more on weekends (probably 6-7 hours a day) so possibly about 32 hours a week about a month ago (shame on me). Now that I heard Call of Duty 5 will be coming soon, I hope not to fall in that range of hours again or I can say good-bye to my marriage, LOL.

40+. I'm a professional gamer. And that's not talking about pay or anything, that's me doing it like it's my day job.

30+ Almost exclusively PC now, though I still have five consoles hooked up. They keep the little lady occupied :)

It depends on what I can get away with. Family, friends, work, health, etc...

Sometimes I do as much as 60, but sometimes I get 0. It really depends on other people's patience with my ridiculous habits.

I only play PC games.

I'd say about 40 (especially since I've left uni and I'm looking for work - too bad no-one wants to give me a go :( ).

Mainly PC games, sometimes its on the Wii but I get bored of that pretty easily.

GC2 is the only game I'm playing right now, and my time varies wildly depending on work, etc.

In late spring this year, I went over a month with no real game time (typing here doesn't count, does it?). But when I'm really being awful and work is slow I can log several days in a row with 8+ hours at the game. I'm flirting with Ascension on an Immense map right now, and that looks to be a major time sink :NOTSURE:

Weekends - 8+ hours a day

School days - 0 :SNIFF!:

Basically my new PC is a do everything machine which makes it my only gaming rig as well.

I'm strictly a PC gamer (puffs up chest proudly) and see no reason to own any other platform.

When time permits, I usually log in about a couple of hours a day M-F (helps me unwind and relax) and again, time permitting, I get in maybe about 8-10 hours total on weekends... so if I'm lucky, approximately 20 hours a week.

Holidays are another matter... I've been known to pull all nighters with just a steady supply of coffee and donuts for fuel and sustenance. }:) x_x

Wow.  That much gaming sounds dreadfully repetitive.

I can't last more than about an hour at any given game (regardless of how great that game is, because there are some real awesome ones on my PC) before it's time to turn the damn thing off (or turn on the tunes, as per usual) and pick up a book, or get the hell out of the house.

I know it's a case of different strokes for different folks, but I guess I'm far too casual a gamer to deal with staring at a stupid screen that long.  :ninja:

Ahh yes :) . GC2 and I have seen the sunrise together on quite a few occasions over the last couple of years :D

Roughly 15... though it can blow out when I've got a good rpg on the go. Good old Baldur's Gate 2 put me above 20 for a couple of weeks there  What a wonderful game it still is!

Yep, she's quite a lady that GC. ;)

It's probably safe to say that you're in good company DA.

Though lately, I have to admit that those days are becoming few and far between for me, I'm afraid . :(

Being a Gerontocrat, I'm really pushing the envelope for that kind of abuse. x_x

I mean it's getting to the point where I can barely find enough mustard just to cut the cheese. :-|

Some people might be surprised just how little you get to play games when you work for a game company (though university might have a bit to do with that too... :p).

20-30 hrs a week, depending if I have a girlfriend or not, being single is nice

A lot. Everyday after work usually and until its time to go to bed! For some reason weekends I dont get started until after-noon.  But it all depends on if friends or my wife have something going on or planned then that is usually the exception. I dont watch much TV. Last time I watched TV was to purchase Stargate series 1 - 10 and watched them all then got back into gaming after a month or two of watching all the episodes. I guess it just depends but normally a lot. Its how I keep myself entertained.

Well back in my heyday (between 5-9 years ago), I was easily playing over 30 hours a week, all on my PC.  Now, however, I'd say I'm down to around maybe half that.

Depends who you ask. Ask me, and i'd say about 25hrs a week in a bad week. As much as 35 in a good week. Thats spread across all 3 main consoles and the PC.

Ask the wife and she'll simply say....Too much.
