The board game can be pretty fun...But it is also a good way to lose friends, especially since backstabbing is pretty much required in the game.

Just let them keep underestimating you (and they will). It's one more way to win in this world... :) Besides, nerd girls are the best. Smart, fun, loyal, honest. I married one and it's one of the best decisions I ever made!
But SF is THE best city to eat at on the west coast I'll dispute that. There's a Thai and Japanese place in the Santa Cruz area that I've never seen beat.Sorry, you're wrong. Outside of NYC, the SF Bay Area has the best fine dining in the US. And some might consider it better than NYC. That's assuming you can afford it though.
Other west coast cities have their dining jewels, but no other place on the west coast has the depth or breadth of SF dining. On the u
Ah, you are still trying to use the pre-designed warships. When you go into the ships screen build your own ship and then you can use whatever war tech you have already discovered....And the ships you design will be much better than the pre-designed ships.
- Bosses at workplaces all around the world tell their employees that they really don't give a rats **** and they think they are all replaceable. - Employees tell bosses that they really don't care who they work for and they can go down the street to the next company and get the same job. - Government admits that it does everything incompetently and for ten times what it should cost - Private companies admit they would sell lead poison to children if they thought they
Do NOT buy anything other than a cannoli here.I have to ask...
The other bakery stuff there is mediocre, not bad, but nothing special (coffee is good)...But SF is THE best city to eat at on the west coast (why I started with food). The average here would be the best in many cities. The biggest problem is that there are so many restaurants that it can be tough to find the wheat for the chaff (so to speak) and get to the really good places. :) A couple of years a
OK, wanted to add a few more. First, all the standard tourist stuff in SF is worthwhile (I'm assuming you know what that is, if not, I can drop them in here). If you do Pier 39, there is one thing a lot of people miss...Namely an old WW II sub is permanently docked down there ( a pier or two over), buy a ticket and do a walk through on it. It will not take that much time and I thought it was pretty enjoyable. I would also mention the Winchester house. It's reasonably wel
Do the tour of Alcatraz in SF. You often need to buy tickets a few days ahead, so be sure to pick them up in time. It's a typical tourist thing, but worth it. Head out to Napa (a couple hours north of SF) and tour the wineries. There are more wineries than you can possibly visit spread out over some very beautiful countryside in that area. Some of the wineries sell some specific wines only at their tasting centers. I have a soft spot for the winter harvest Chardonnay by Kendall-Ja
You mean there is a mode other than 2D ?!? Seriously, I still use 2D even on tiny maps. It's not just that it conveys so much more information than 3D, it's that it also doesn't convey any information not directly related to game play...And I'm all about the game play.
One way I think the AI's might be "cheating" is in detecting ships that they should not be able to.I often build long range "sniper" craft, a cargo hull with a single low-space weapon, one survey module, and the rest engines. I use these both as scouts and to pick off transports and spore ships before they can harm my planets. I sometimes find the AI ships hunting these down, even though there doesn't seem to be any way they could see them. And, even when they do chase the snipers, I shou
Yup. It does. Not everyone plays Metaverse matches and I think a lot of people only play a couple and forget about it. Plus, you scored pretty well in your games. It adds up quick.Huh. How about that. When it comes to online stuff, I just assume that I'm at the sucky end, since I don't have a lot of time to play. (MMOs and FPS online are out, because I get it handed to me by 14 y/os within 30 seconds.) As for my scores...well, I see all these meta badges for "Suicidal" and "1400 games
One time the AI asked me for "Tree Fitty". I woulda given it to him to avoid war, but right when I was about to capitulate, I noticed that the "Korath Ambassador" was really a 15 story-tall creature from the Paleolithic Era. So I said, "Dammit Lochness Monsta, I aint givin' you no tree fitty! Get off my porch!"
"I gave him a dollar." "D**n it woman! No wonder he keeps coming back"
In case anyone missed it, Mag has just shown again why he is considered the GC II champ amongst the diplomats....Yes, there is a new record for the highest scoring game. 975K Congrats!!!!!! Now where are the party hats?!?
Well, I believe my DA score of 900K still stands as the highest scoring legitimate DA game (didn't double check). I, too, also believe these players cheated. There simply isn't any way to achieve these levels of scores on such a small map, legitimately, especially in this time frame. Wyndstar currently stands as the pinnacle of what can be achieved on the smaller maps. Re-read his AAR and look at his scores. Assume you have magic abilities and can do four times better than him...You
Thank you JustinSane for the nice write up and the kind words. It is also worth noting that while we do sometimes come and go, there is almost always a couple of long time players visiting on any given day and willing to offer up any help that they can. I did want to add that probably the best method for getting membership in the GDs over at the core is to: 1) Go to [link="http://www.thegalacticcore.com/"]The Core[/link] 2) Create your account. 3) PM Technician
Let me emphasize what Wyndstar was saying earlier. The tech screen is still very useful (let me make that very, very, very useful!!). It's of only very limited value in getting tech from the AI via tech/cash for tech. There are a lot of other things you can trade and a lot of combination situations. If you fiddle with them, there are still some nice big holes that you can drive an empire through in DA (I've only played a limited amount of TA). The tech screen absolutely ha
My wife has owned the home computer recently...She has been actually using it for something productive, so I lose out! Talk about cutting into game time! :)
I don't believe those statistics on piracy for a second. I don't know a single person who pirates PC games. I'd be surprised if it was even 10%. I know quite a few with chipped consoles though.
Yeah, I didn't even get into that. I simply don't believe that 90% of the copies out there are illegal. Maybe in some country where the game isn't published or has no history of copyright laws, but not in the vast majority of the first world.
And, before someone asks, casinos sell amusement.
OK. I can't let that slide. If they are selling amusement, then they don't need any security. After all, how do you steal amusement? It's like trying to sell love. You can sell means and methods that might yield it, but you can't actually sell it. Better to say that they are selling an against the odds chance of winning money, or even that they are selling a form of entertainment and some people find that for
I have to say I enjoyed the previous version and I am looking forward to this version. It'll suck you in GW! :)
Get real, if the software will create too much problems for me I will just move to another software Linux or what ever.Anyway if someone do not buy , he do not buy , if it's will not be cracked "worst" or "best" thing that could happen (depending on point of view) he will not play. Thats all so I do not see any point for publishers invest money in protection since it will not increase sales. Yes it will reduce piracy but it will not increase sales. It wouldn't create any problems for

I thought some of the commentary on Stardock was interesting. In particular, the supposition that Stardock gamers are a different breed and that the distribution model that works for Stardock would not work with FPS gamers. I don't think that is true, but it seemed like a lot of others did. Frankly, the GC II user base as a whole seems to be pretty computer literate and quite capable of using something like a bit torrent...But simply chooses not to go that way. I believe this has more
