It can be very effective. It's a bit tougher to run because it places a higher demand on your economy....A natural side affect of fully using all your buildings.
Purge
I hadn't seen it before this weekend myself...Which means, I think, that it is at best little known. I didn't check to see if I got charged for it...I wonder if it's free under those conditions?
Although you might be able to get something out of focus, Iztok. I discovered in DL the other day that you can still get output when you are more than 500BC in debt. It appears that you still receive the focus output of the initial colony building or civilization capital via focus when your industry is fully shut down (but only the focus points, not it's production capacity). I'm pretty sure this is a minor bug and a possibility that just wasn't ever considered. This might be enough to expla

Note also that if you get a planet that has a tradeable wonder on it, you also get that wonder and there is no point in asking for the wonder separately.
Well, I'm over into point building mode now. Maybe a third of the way through my game....I see some promise in my testing, it appears I'm still capable of learning things (thank god!). I'll need another game to see if I can make it bear fruit! :)
We are more of the talk softly and carry a big stick style of diplomacy...And we like whopping big sticks! ;) I finally started up a new game yesterday. I'm doing some experimenting, so I'm expecting a less than optimal score. Still, I expect it should break at least 400K and hopefully it will only take me a week to two weeks.
It's real and it's 20K. :)
One more small quirk. In FF 2.0 the bling square for difficulty shows up, but it's not filled with anything...I'm seeing you're icon for Suicidal with FF 2.0.0.10
Argh. It's adblock plus that's doing it. Apparently the difficulty level looks a lot like an add! ;)
One more small quirk. In FF 2.0 the bling square for difficulty shows up, but it's not filled with anything...
I would prefer mutual destruction myself. It seems more coherent to my frame of mind.
So here's that "to the 1.x power" I had in memory for scoring for different difficulty levels. But this then only caused me to wonder what are the numeric representations of the difficulty levels. I mean is suicidal 10 or is it 1.9? Without that knowledge, knowing that the power factor is 1.1 is meaningless. The Wiki still shows this where the number is refered to as the AI level. * Cakewalk
I had read that particular thread on more than one occasion in the past as well...This was the first time that I really saw the implicit information. I guess it was just a matter of looking at it in the right frame of mind. AW Tresspasser was from just before my time as well. You know we are digging deep into history when something happened before the two of us! :) [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?forumid=162&aid=111271"]The most amazing end game save ever![/link]
I was looking for this...Still haven't given up. I think that I have, however, found the definitive answer to another long standing question. Does "Society" mean population only, or population plus influence, etc. The answer is population only. In this thread, changes going into the game for scoring in 1.1 are discussed. It has an explanation from Frogboy about how difficulty levels affect game score and about how they are going to start factoring by the square root of the turn, inst
Having that drop on your planet would create a bit of terror!
Welcome!
An even easier way. Just launch DA or DL. You will see the last option on the menu is "switch chapter". This toggles you back and forth between the two.
I had seen a post on this as well. My memory tells me it was adjusted by multiplying, not to the power of. It was an adjustment of .1 per level, but I don't remember which level was 1. I.E. If Suicidal was 1.5, Obscene would be 1.4 and your score would be (Game Score*1.5) for Suicidal. Not a huge bonus given the differences, but something.
Well I like the all X strategy as it is capable of getting so much more out of your resources. Having said that, I would recommend against it until you have played through a few games and are really comfortable with the game itself. It really is an expert level strategy, primarily because it requires you to run a very tight ship economically, and it's very easy to capsize your empire without solid control. I've never seen a mod for the sliders. I don't expect to ever see one either,
I know that he did do one with the Yor in DA where he literally cut off the AI lines of colonization. I don't remember the ratio on that one specifically, but the numbers where unbelievable since he managed to bottle the two suicidal AIs. It was almost like he was playing in an empty galaxy...It did get me to really think about how the number of opponents should affect my bonus choices and play style when seeking to maximize score. It's about the same time I started really getting a handle on
My condolences Mumble. I lost a 600K+ game back a while ago and I know how frustrating that was to me. I always launch and post a junk game after every game patch now to my test character and immediately clear it before starting a game. It's just to double check. Not much else you can do about it...
You are a galciv fan if... You have abbreviated versions of several posters names...Double points for initials only! You have referenced people to threads that haven't seen a reply in more than six months.
There should be a page in the databanks of this site with all of Mumble's posts on strategy and score. That alone would have most playing better than any strat guide ever could. Thanks for your kind words but it always seems to me that the advice I give is rather hazy and indefinite. There are just so many details that really make any particular strategy work that are just impossible to convey. What I try to do is give a
Removed, accidental double post.
I would point back to the mention of nano technology. A lot of significant problems with this tech have been solved in recent years. It's possible we could get experimental stuff going in as little as five years (not likely, just possible). I think this is a much better than 50% chance that we will start using this within the next fifty years. Once we do start using it, its development could easily (likely?) be fueled in a fashion similar to computer technology with rapid improvements. If w
