to fully uninstall: -1st follow the direction of yarden -2nd you could check if there is any left over in the galciv2 folder on your hard drive (just in case something got wrong) (use the search function for galciv2 or galactic civilization 2) -3rd all your savegames & preferences are stored in "My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2" backup & delete them alternatively you might just want to delete My Documents\My Games\GalCi

thanks for all your answers guys my problem is still not solved but I will try to monitor the virtual memory usage + the desktop resolution thingy asap + running in a window As a sidenote I did try the "debug" option(in the hope to have more information), but the performance degrades to approximately 0.1fps (yeah you read it correctly 1 frame each 10 seconds) due to heavy hard drive usage I had some interesting results althou

another idea if you wish one : include a stripped down version of the original game inside the expansion box (for example : galciv2 with a limited number of races available , or a limited number of opponents... or any combination)

Try that on obscene or higher difficulty and tell me you had success. without going that high it could be interesting to see if the thread starter is that successfull with intelligent difficulty

Drivers look fine here If I were him I would still try to update drivers, you never know what might happen in that strange thing called a computer one day I even had a user who had a problem between a cdrom drive and a palm software .... the palm software was somehow interfering with the well bein

hum, you know... there's no point in posting a debug.err which has nothing to do with your beta4 problem ... anyway, did you try deleting the prefs.ini file or the folder ?

may I suggest that you set all races to intelligent (no random options at all) ? and cheat your way through it (cheating will allow you to really see how things are going for each race and will allow you to not focus on yourself and still not be stomped badly) as random judgement errors are thrown into the equation at lower difficulties it's quite difficult to draw conclusions on those ... (terrans may have been very very unlucky

don't understand what you are saying... please specify and explain exactly what you are trying to do, what you see, where, when, how .....

minor races are just that : minor .... if they were a challenge they would not be called minor I think also anything else than intelligent will add randomized errors to what the ai should do about a situation which should explain why it contacted you instead of the other AI about its situation (it made a mistake between you and the real offender ...) that's quite fun in fact <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL

I don't know what is your problem so I'll tell you what I have done that worked for me : -1: install the game -2: at the first few install screens the game will ask for your serial number and if you wish to put it write it -3: install sdcentral -4:update the game sdcentral should autoregister your game

please forgive me if this seems stupid or obvious: I would suggest the usual : -scandisk -defrag -windowsupdate -antivirus update + scan -antispyware update + scan also check that your regional option/decimal symbol is "."

AI has been heavily modified in 1.1beta versions are you running the latest beta or 1.0X ? if you are running 1.0X I would suggest you wait for 1.1 final to be released (because beta are often not completely stable versions)
