I'll suggest you lower difficulty first this game AI is quite good, it knows how to play & is not scripted it has no advantage over the player until "Intelligent / Rough" one good idea is to cheat your way through one game with Intelligent AIs or better (if you cheat you won't be destroyed) try not to influence AIs too much by your actions and watch it and take notes

I have to admit, I was surprised (and happy) about the result. Sometimes you read the forums and it sounds like a walking disaster zone in there of people who are mad or wish it was more like some other game or whatever. I hope this made you (and the whole stardock) realize that forums with more than
I bypass this "limitation" with military spending 1% + social spending 84% + research 15% (just an example) that way -planets that need to build themselves with not much factories, will be efficient -planets who need to builds starships will stop building social overthat I focus most of my planets to increase the area I want the only problem is that I lose some military bonuses in the process
I think it makes sense that different leaders have different views on what is considered an aggression and what is not considering their own interest first the AI may hope that you won't be bothered enough to declare war on them the AI may be 'probing' what is your threshold for declaring war of course it's risky considering that you are more powerful than him at which difficulty level did you play ?
remember that SDcentral is the only way to get beta updates : that is of course if you want them otherwise you can just download the 1.0X update right now or the 1.1 final somewhere in the future all setting for the game are stored inside : my documents/my games/galciv2/prefs.ini just delete that file & everything should be reset to defaults if that's not enough uninstall galciv2 (either through sdcentral or a
this is true there's no point to adding a feature if it completely breaks the game in a way that means the player is overpowered whatever the difficulty level (up to intelligent) and I don't like having to resort to cheats for the AI to improve the challenge given
New users come to our forums, see a ton of "crash" reports and think "Oh man, this game must be buggy" not realizing they're reading beta reports. solving that could be done like this : -make a specific sub-forum with a specific NDA(or agreement) for every people that want to subscribe (free subs
when you are upgrading an existing design this behavior is normal
I noticed this too have yet to see a pattern
Also, it appears that "C:\My Documents" is hard-coded somewhere I don't think it's hard-coded as I don't get this debug.err message at all all those dealing with "my documents" points to the correct path inside "document & settings" my guess is that : somehow there must be a reference t
I think it's a bug, it may have been mentioned before but I did not find it if you set your social spending exactly so that one planet produces 24 in social and you then build the first & smaller factory (which needs 50 social to be finished) the planet view screen will display 2 turns to finish the project whereas the list of all planets will display 3 turns the factory will be finished after 3 turns here's two
Wow, what a requirement. Has this been listed as one of the requirements for the game on the game box. Set Windows to English and change decimal to period with quotes? Can't say I have ever seen game requirements like that before. Minimum System Requirements: Windows English Version "." but not dec
1.10[b4].017 this IS the beta 4A according to my debug.err log this build also fixes the bug that made some ship parts smaller when upgrading than when designing a new ship see this for more information : Link
not fixed in beta 4A here's a screenshot showing the problem, pay attention to the date and how far the ships are !
post your debug.err file so that we can see what's going on you might also want to try v1.0X as v1.1 beta4 is just that : a beta version in public testing
Debug Message: WM_CLOSE message received. this means that galciv2 received a close order you said nothing happens: did you have to close manually galciv2 ? try updating your drivers too : www.ati.com
it's an error that should be due to your italian regional settings like you can see here : Link two things you should do in that order: -1: inside regional options try changing the decimal symbol to "." (under the currency Tab) that should be enough to fix it -2: if your problem is still not fixed change your whole locale setup to english
hi I happened to wonder why my ships could go that far I investigated a little and found this : (I don't know if anyone else beside me experience this though) if a ship is on autopilot with movement already spent for a specific turn if you then save the game if you then reload that game when clicking the 'turn' button, you won't go to the next turn instead whose ships that were on autopilot with movement al
no problem encountered while playing with 'w'
I'll add that it's better to have a patch & information about it than no patch or no information... also I don't agree with vandenburg about egosoft although they don't have a 'developper journal' like here, they give some information about patches from time to time & release frequent patches...
sometimes a nation/race might want to surrender to the one he is fighting just so that less of his people die if the battle is hopeless somehow I think it makes sense
unfortunately -running in a window brings no change (after some time I get the "back buffer flip" error + "driver internal" error) -running the game at the same resolution as the desktop (lowered desktop to 1024x768) brings no change -I also watched the virtual memory usage which never got beyond a peak usage of 47.9%
I experience no garbling of that kind here so I don't think it has something to do with the build order (but I may be wrong) will try the "w" option
alternatively to changing your regional option to "english" you may try to change the decimal symbol to "." using an English version of Windows I think you meant a "non-English version of Windows <
hi, just quick suggestions: In the Starship design interface add a new function allowing to restore previously obsoleted designs just in case you made an error or want to upgrade a previously designed ship another useful function would be "check title/name of new design" would warn if a design already exists with the title/name you just chose the latter would be useful when you play multiple
