Well, I know this thread isn't exactly meant for recruiting, but I started my own empire a while back and I used one of my characters to start it up and have only submitted one game for it so far... but if you are looking for a small empire to join, you are more than welcome to join "The Great Galactic Shoehorn". In fact, just today I noticed someone else had put in a request to join... so they're in naturally. Oddly enough, I have no idea how long ago they had put in that request, as I
Can you use military and influence starbases to cause a war between 2 powerful AI's by gifting the starbases to one or the other? Sadly, in my experience gifting a few influence starbases that were deep inside my largest rival's territorial space to two other races resulted in the sudden disappearance of these bases from the map on the very next turn. I had hoped to stir things up between them by planting a few of these bases at key points on the map
The game I submitted last night may have helped a little... I like your modesty Marshall. Fantastic score btw... in celebration, I'll throw another slave on the fire in your honor!
It would be even better if it actually worked that way, eh? I use it for the economic bonus. Ya ghost, sadly the case... a misnomer if ever there was one, but it sounds so damn cool . I use it as well for the 100% economic bonus it offers (which is nothing to sneeze at). I often wondered what would be better... fixing this so that it works as was
Just posted my first game for the Evil Empire. 76K Played as the Thalians for a military victory. Congratulations Embird... great score!
Since I like to go for the "Influence Victory", my milestones are as follows: 1)Governments: achieving "Star Federation" status as soon as possible (economic bonus 30%, diplomacy ability +10, influence ability +5). 2)Diplomacy/Trade: I'm not happy until I can place a "Cultural Exchange Center" (influence +25%), and at least 2 "Stock Markets" (economy 25%, influence 5%) on all of my planets. 2)Galactic Achievements: acquiring either "Galactic Showcase" (increases diplom
Evil cheating Korx buzzards... I would have used stronger language for those gravy sucking galactic swine! I'm curious as to why the AI didn't use a tile for building the "manufacturing capital" on this planet, in order to get even more manufacturing bonuses as well; maybe it would have taken too long to build, or it just wasn't worth it given what it
I remember that excellent NFB animated short; very apropos ghost.
Live long and prosper Stardock!
A happy and most evil B'day to you PlayJeff45! (give those slaves an extra lashing or two will you?)
This doesn't look like it particularly has any major game-changing features to it; just the morale buildings and the spawning anomalies. And then the nice-to-have governors and the usual bug fixes. But otherwise basically the same game. WOOT! Bring it....!
I've just found out that season #1 is being released on DVD in the UK and France as of this month (Sept.17/'07)... only problem is that for us here in North America there is no release date as of yet! WWW Link We may have to wait a whil
Since we've raised the subject of recruiting, I think we should just kidnap Mumblefratz. The name, the avatar, the depth of curmudgeonliness...it just *says* Gerontocracy. Those scoremongers over in the Galactice Diplomats have plenty of firepower but they lack flavor. They don't deserve him. I'm with you on this GW <br
When I first start out I will build maybe 1 or 2 tiny ships per planet (and if possible park 1 on a resource and stick a cheap weapon (usually laser) on each (no defense) just to deter any would-be bullies from getting any ideas. This I think also helps your military ranking even if only slightly so (correct me if I'm wrong here). After that I just leave them and pretty much forget about them until I research med. hulls and better weapon tech. I learned the hard way by try
C'mon; our generation is running the planet - you can finally afford the right equipment to conquer the galaxy! "Right On" Well, guys, I FINALLY beat the Obscene level (out of about 10 starts, and =posted= stompings). Just posted yesterday. I had to tell someone, and you seemed like the right crowd. Congratulatio
(chin drops) Wow... what a score! Way to go Marshall...er ahh, Slay Belle!
Sometimes I think they change stuff just for the sake of changing stuff. I spent a bunch of money on my current build, but didn't get a justifiable performance improvement from last year's build. Of all the upgrades I've done, the current one was the most money spent with the least result. I wish they would stop killing upgrade paths for meager performance gains. My sympathies CraigHB I decided a long time ago not to get into the trap of buying
Close, in concept, but no cigar. Oh well, that was fun anyway tickling those close to dormant brain synapses. Thanks for the trip in the "Wayback Machine" drrider.
Adding more RAM will definitely help with GC2; the larger maps are very memory intensive, so having that RAM there should mean less swapping and better performance in general. This is what I'm hoping for Kryo. After I finish my current med. galaxy game, it'll be on to a large galaxy map... should be interesting.
I have an older machine myself and a recent RAM upgrade from 512 to 1G was a great investment. Load times and between turn times have drecreased quite a bit. Also the response time switching focus from the game to other applications is a lot quicker. And that's just with crappy PC-2700 ram(All my old Asus MB can handle ) Right on Deth... This has been my experience so far as well. I purchased some PC3200 DDR, but it's ok, because it's backward comp
I guess I can't complain too much, I mean after all I have managed to keep my rig going for 5 years or so with very little in the way of equipment upgrades. Just a vid. card last year, a cd burner shortly thereafter, and now some extra ram, so all in all not bad I'd say. Probably no more than $200.(CDN) spent over the span of 5 years. That's the great thing about TBS games is that you can get away with a lot less as far as hardware goes, unlike other games. Turn based strategy game
tried running away with their yellow tails between their legs Almost forgot, "Yellow Tail" is a wine from Australia... they make a wonderful shiraz! I'm sure Neilo and Embird know what I'm talking about.
I destroyed every one of those wannabe treehugging pirates, even the ones who tried running away with their yellow tails between their legs. TOTAL ANNIHILATION. Even made the beer taste better. Congrats PlayJeff... ! I'm cracking open a Rickard's Red in your honor (hoisting glass)... glugg, glugg... ahhhh! (well to be perfectly honest, I opened it
