Well, just a quick update. I recently purchased 1 gig of ram for my comp. now giving me a total of 1280 (I kept a stick of 256 mb from before). From what I can observe there is certainly a performance boost. Going from 512 mb to 1280 seems to have helped and it was a relatively cheap upgrade as well. I have restricted my current playing style to medium and small maps only, but will now try moving up to the larger maps. The additional ram should help with this, or at least a

I'll take a stab at it... to me it almost looks like a crayon drawing depicting "Rocketship 7" from the TV show of the same name beamed out of Buffalo, NY in the early 60's. (cigar or no cigar?)

I hope all of you will sign up there and drop in from time to time and also share any tips and strategies that you have come up with. There is a private are there suited for just that purpose, we don't want any other empires getting in our little plans now do we. This sounds great Neilo. I'll check it out for sure. unique technology trees per civilization, unique weapons per civilization, unique planetary improvements for different civilizations Now this sounds very interesting! For me, these features alone would make the game feel much more... how should I say "Galactic" in scope and nature with each civ. being truly alien from each other. This addition is what I'd hoped to see in GalCiv III if that would ever come about, but I need only wait until Nov. fo

The mighty empire of "The Great Galactic Shoehorn" will squeeze you all into a size 9 1/2 (EE) penny loafer (colour to be determined)! Thus has spoken Baron Syph The Unpredictable.

Timing really IS everything! Bravo Motti! It's important on Tech Victories to set the final research to end on December 15th instead of December 22nd. The Tech will finish, but the game will continue past that point for one more turn. Waiting until December 22nd will cause the score to drop. I especially like this detail. I would have completely f

Here...quick, put this white jacket on. I know the sleeves are a bit long, but not to worry... Sorry pal, just having some fun with ya. If anything I usually just mellow out with a cup of tea or maybe put on some jazz or blues music playing lightly in the background. As a rule I just like to focus on the game itself without any distractions (I get enough of those throughout the work day).

I think I've played almost every game so far to the bitter end, whether I'm just trying out a new strategy or submitting a game to the Meta (just gotta see that cinematic ending )

I take whatever is dealt and go with it. It's all part of the overall challenge with some map positions being in your favour at times, and other times not so. I just roll with the punches as they say. If I find I'm in a less than desirable starting position on the map, I will change my strategy to try and compensate for this. It's all part of the learning experience and enjoyment I get from not always having things go my way. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmile.gif

I used to read a lot of SF in my younger days, but two stand out; Harry Harrison's "Make Room! Make Room!" which was the basis for the movie "Soylent Green" (loosely based on the book), and the other was Arthur C. Clarke's "Childhood's End".

I've found that choosing the Federalist party really gives my economy a boost (as long as I keep winning the elections that is). That's one of the reasons why I research the diplomacy/trade/cultural techs early on in my games (the yellow ones) .

Thanks PlayJeff45, MottiKhan, and Neilo. That game (med.size map) seemed to take forever to finish, but I guess if you are only dedicating 2-3 hours of evil a week to the game, well there ya go. You're right Neilo... I checked and wow, I'm not the first!(comforting... but unsettling) HMMMMMM 15 lashes for being neutral Going easy on him, are we? Don't worry guys, as I type this I am lookin

WOOt! I finally posted a score! Although I must hang my evil head in shame at my pathetic score, and begging forgiveness from my evil peers (go lightly on the lash oh masters) Oh well, it's all good I hope. I will endeavor to be more evil next time <img src="http://images.stardock

Where are you guys, by the way? I said it above, but I am in Windsor, the armpit of Ontario. If Windsor represents the armpit ghost... I'd hate to think of where Toronto is anatomically situated(cough).

WSMNN, It's too bad it only lasted a short while (2 seasons, if that). I think it was ahead of it's time, and the scripts were intelligently written IMHO. Probably not as action rooted as some other shows on TV at the time, and therefore didn't capture the attention of the masses.

Hi Donfield, I had the saucer kit from Aurora as well, and I think it can still be purchased on *bay. I think I was 14 years old when it first premiered on ABC in 1967. I had a small cassette recorder that I would use to record the opening theme music and as you stated William Conrad's excellent voice-over. You can't beat that eerie theme music by the talented Dominic Frontiere, who as you know also created the theme music for another great Sci-Fi TV series "The Outer Limits"
