Bigger components for bigger ships. Engines - yes, for the same speed they would need to be larger to overcome the additional inertia. Defenses - maybe yes and no. Armor plating - no The cost would go up relative to the size of the ship, not the size, for the same protection. It might take 100 lbs of Duranthium to cover a small ship one mil thick, while it would take 200 lbs to cover a medium ship with the same thickness

I got one the other day that was just too good to be true. I saved the game before I did anything so I can go back and play it from the beginning using different strategies. These were the bonus tiles on this planet. Manufacturing (1) 700% (1) 300% (1) 100% Research (1) 300% Food (2) 100% 1100% manufacturing bonus from 3 tiles, and add to that the Ma

When you uninstalled did you remove the folders also? If not, try the uninstall again, then delete the GalCiv2 folder, as well as the folder in your My Docs\Games.

I get more crashes in GC2 when i overclock the video. The game does not like it. I have tried overclocking on my old Geforce 6200 and the new 6800GS with the same results. The game crashes constantly. And it is not from overheating, I have watched for that.

It's not random. They will build influence starbases around you if your influence rating is much higher than theirs. Sometimes they will do it anyway to raise their own and influence your worlds, possibly hoping for some defections. Build a few of your own next to their homeworld. If your military is that strong they won't do anything but put up with it. And it will raise your own influence rating as well as lower theirs.

I start my taxes at 50%, and build the entertainment center right after the farm. And the farm does not go in until later. The population will grow the same amount no matter the starting population. And the farms will do no good until the population gets to at least 5B. So building the farm to early is a waste of money, time and resources. And the morale does not go down until the population gets to high and needs the entertainment center. So with the

The GalCiv II AI already uses dual core processors heavily. Yes it does. I noticed a line in the Prefs.ini file for it. Just wondering though. I set mine from 0 to 1, but I had not checked before hand to see if it was using both. Does it do it as a default or does that option nee

Ya, research the Spheres, but only to get the reward, and to go on for a tech victory if you want. But once you have the NLC you should only build NLC's, and upgrade the other research facilities into the NLC.

Have you updated the game through Stardock? If not, it would be a good idea to get the latest beta version. And the release 1.1 version is due out next week. As to the video card, it sounds like yours is an onboard motherboard chip, and that is probably not very good for this game. I have an Nvidia 6800 GS which works very well, and it is not a real expensive card. If you shop online this is probably the cheapest place I have foun

It is worth the update. I use them all the time. Do the research through the Research Acadamies, then do Xeno Ethics. Then go down and it is the next in line to the Acadamies. Once you get that, plunk down as many as you can afford and research through to the Discovery Spheres and get the Omega Research Facility. And don't forget to get the Super Computers - they give a 20% boost in research also. Also put the Tech Center on your world with the be

Great work. It looks wonderful. I can't wait to get it in. I currently have the Kingon series in, so this will be a nice addition. THANKS!!! But, I do not see a link to download the model. I saw your post about getting ready a series of ships, but I would really like to get this.

The Subspace Blaster and Annihilaters are a new type of beam weapon which leads to the Doom Ray. They do not belong before Disrupters just because the early versions are weaker, bigger or cheaper. Use Disrupters until you get the Doom Ray.

Not that I have found. But if you are upgrading all of a certain type of ship, you can bring one out and use the 'Update All Ships of This Type' checkbox to do it all in one shot. If you have the $$$ it is a real time and click saver.

There are things that up influence, like the blue influence resources, the restaraunt of Eternity, the Political Capital, and embassies. I think there was another reward in there too, but I can't think of the name right off hand. Some of them work planet wide like an embassy, and some work as an overall increase like the first three. Those overall increases don't just add a certain number of points to the influence score, they add a percenta

I really don't get the beef about one MP per single ship/fleet. It is the same rules for both sides. I too like it best if I am attacking a fleet instead of 10 ships. I hate using all those MP's too. But they have to do it that way too. And sometimes it is to your advantage. If those single ships were in a fleet they might have the combined firepower to take you. I would rather spend 5 MP's to down five of their best ships, than lose my ship

Anything you need over a gig will be swap file time. This game takes a lot of ram. My ram usage during this last game was over 1.8GB. You will see an improvement in game play if you up yours to 2GB.
