No, they are saved with the game and can't be changed. You have to begin a new game to get the new logo.

Well, I for one really appreciate the extra time you all put into supporting this game. A couple weeks ago 1 or 2 of your team was at it for a good 8 hours on a Saturday, pouring out new versions every couple hours for us to try. It really showed a dedication that can not be beat anywhere in the industry. Keep up the good work, and don't let those few that try to stomp on your case get to you. There are those of us, many more I am sure, that think you could not be doing a better
So, be friendly with them.
That is a story line. It is in the script, so to speak. It is not coded in as far as I know. It is the imagination factor at work.
No, it depends on how you set it up at the beginning of the game, not how you play the game or their attitude towards you at the end of the game.
Go to this folder and view as thumbnails. C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Gfx\PlanetBonuses The Precursor Library looks kinda like a yellow garbage can. I have never seen one in the game, and I really think the dev's should fix it so that at least a few show up from time to time.
1. It can still take a while to load a saved game. Version 1.11 takes longer (probably twice as long) to load them on my machine than previous versions. But a huge map in late game can take several minutes on mine. I have a Pentium D 2.8GHz with 3GB of ram, by the way. I'm not sure if yours takes longer because I have more ram or dual cpu's. But I suspect that adding ram might help, since with only 512MB you are into swap file quite a bit. 2. Add more engines to the ship. <
The techs and ability bonuses are separate. You can customize the techs and bonuses in the CurrentCustomRace10.raceconfig file in the My Docs\Games\GalCiv2 folder. (Hint: Don't give yourself Xeno Ethics in the techs, because then you will never be able to set your alignment.) And you can set the friendship/hatred factor during the game setup no matter which race you are playing.
Look in the Prefs.ini, located on your My Docs\Games\GalCiv2 folder. You can set the resolution there.
The program can use up 1-2GB of ram easily, especially on huge and gigantic maps with a lot of races. I got my first out of memory crash the other day. When I got out to the desktop the mem usage was at 2.6GB. My fault I think, however. I was playing a game when Media Center started to record Dr. Who. It was probably 10 minutes into the recording when I noticed a slow down, and it crashed when I tried to save the game. And Dau, have you tried a lower r
Maybe your empire is too unsavoury in other respects. Have you checked the effectivness of your deodorant lately?
There are no extra weapons or defenses for Neutral. You get the Neutrality Learning Center, all upgrade tiles made available on planets, and a discount when you buy ships outright instead of building them. The NLC's makes extra weapons and techs unnecessary though, since they increase research ability so much you will be getting better weapons and all other techs faster. And the extra weapons and defenses from the Good and Evil alignments are not as powerfull as the most advanced weap

Well, first off update the game to version 1.11 - the debug says you are on version 1.0. Update your video drivers if you can, they are 3 years old. And your audio drivers are 5 years old. If you tried doing the auto-update from Stardock, try downloading the file to your hard drive and running it from there. I had trouble trying to auto-update mine, but running it locally worked fine.
jkstexas2005 It's not the updates causing your problems, it's you or your computer. Maybe it's time for a reformat and reinstall? A virus check or malware check? I have all the updates and they have not caused me any problems. So it is not something inherent in the updates themselves. Before you go blaming Microsoft and Bill Gates for all the problems, maybe a check on your own computing habits might be in order. You sound like a jealous little school
That looks like the (I think) Korx homeworld that I took a few games ago. No farms, 5 billion people, and massive entertainment. And it can do no real good to the overall morale, since those buildings only help the world they are on. And with 5 billion people, you don't even need one, much less 8 or 10 of them. Maybe they will fix things a bit better for 1.12. I hope so.
I get kicked out of the game now and then, but I have very few problems as well. Yes, I think we got lucky with our machines considering some of the problems some people have. And if you have had zero problems, consider yourself very lucky.
You could do the carrier thing if you could change one thing. Right now, the fleet only has the speed of the slowest ship. If that could be reversed to give the fleet the speed of the fastest ship, then you could build the fighters with no engines and they would follow along with the mothership. But I think that is in the .exe file, and not moddable.
Well, in my last game with 7 races they were using mainly beams and some missles. So I went wth beams (yup, 'cause they look good) and mass drivers.
The debug.err file is located in the main program folder. C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2 That is the debug file we need to see. Just open it in Notepad, select everything, copy and paste it into the post.
Go back to the Autosave game, or the Previous Autosave. Either should get you back to a point well before the attack. And I know exactly what you mean. I have had it happen too, when they declared war and I bought a bunch of ships that would be available on the next turn. Then the game crashed on the next turn, and the autosave was on the turn that war was declared. So when I loaded that saved game, bought the ships and hit next turn, nothing happened for me except that I lost a bunch
Your audio drivers are old. It also looks like your motherboard audio is still enabled, and it shouldn't be with the Sound Blaster in there. Don't know if it will help, but you might want to disable the mb audio. And you might increase your swap file size to 2GB or so, and make it static if it's not already.
I just had pirates show up in my territory. I had just wiped out the Altarians, and a few turns later they showed up. I had one of my fleets near by and took them out easily. There were only about 5 stacked ships, and not very powerful. But I took them out on the same turn as the pirate message, so maybe they just did not have time to think.
You might want to run a virus checker, as well as check for ad and spy ware. Another possibility is a bad cdrom drive. But if two different cd's gave the same error, it is very unlikely that it is the cd itself. More likely something messed up in your computer.
They have a driver for the Go 7800GTX that might work. Have you tried that one? I tried to read the release notes for it, but it seems the file is bad so I can't check compatibility with your particular chip. The standard Geforce drivers do not support the Go chip, though.
