Were the examples cited here an AI win or a player loss? IE if it was a military victory were you the only other player left and the AI beat you?

It would be nice if there were a filter on the main forum for number of comments/date of post. Thus I can set a filter to check for new posts that need a response and try to help rather than having to hunt through the forum manually (I usually can't be arsed to do that so I only respond to recent posts )
It won't create its OWN influence but will only magnify existing IP. As mentioned above, start a giant map and send a constructor to a distant empty square and check the IP readout, it should show 0 for you if you have yet to build anything else (try and keep your pop down as well). Then build an ISB and check the IP readout. It should NOT have increased. If it has then it will be generating its own influence.
I hadn't noticed the lack of Rangers until you mentioned it. My first few games I used to get them all the time!
I'm not sure and I would love it if someone could confirm, but I was sure that no, as long as they have 1 of any offensive skill to get all offensive bonuses. same for defense, if i remember correctly only worked pre 1.1 as in the last game I played (it was a while ago) I seem to remember that it didn't work like that when I expected it to from my other
This has been discussed in a number of other threads. There is a good reason why it was done like this. But I'm eating pizza and I don't want to type it all out 1 handed.
I have a feeling we are going to miss you... Enjoy. You deffo deserve it. Along with your entire team!
Does it show the PQ as well?
And if you build the NLCs make sure you do it early to get all the benefit. They only give 2 flasks more than a discovery sphere but the NLC is about 6 techs earlier in the tree :o) They also help you get to a tech victory a damn sight faster.
Not sure about the fleets but if you are up to date with patches I think 1.1 has a fleet manager screen that may do what you want. If you want to upgrade all of a certain class select one of them, tell it to upgrade and just above the box where you select the type to which you wish to upgrade there is a checkbox called Upgrade all ships of this class. Tick it. It will cost a FORTUNE to do a lot of ships but it is very easy. And will probably upgrade ships within a fleet. Also works on
Any decimals are rounded down as well. Thus a PQ 18 with a +10% will give a (18/10=1.8, rounded down=1) 1 PQ boost, which is probably the one showing up as a yellow.
I wouldn't run XP on its own with that little RAM never mind a game on top. IS the graphics memory shared as well? If so you have just lost a quarter of your RAM to that. I would STRONGLY suggest you pick up another half gig of RAM at least, if not a gig. They are reasonably cheap these days and it will be probably the best investment you can get for your system without shelling out on a huge gfx card.
2. The idea is to colonise at least one of the planets, I haven't managed to get more than that initially, then sit tight while you research hard, get planetary invasion and take the world the Drenging colonised before moving to their base. If they don't manage to colonise and/or you cant reach them then just dump an un-upgraded influence starbase near the edge of your range, it will project far enough for you to reach them.
The only advantage to upgrading is to do something like the following: Rush research trade, build basic freighters, establish as many routes as possible. Research sensors (and possibly military stuff but probably not worth it), design an upgraded freighter with LOTS of sensors so you get your freighters wizzing back and forth acting like a sensor net. Build a STANDARD freighter, launch it but don't send it anywhere. Upg
In theory it shouldn't be totally impossible to do this at home. I grant that it is a reasonable amount of work but it should mainly be a case of making a front end to pick up each piece, place it and then record the settings in the xml file. Right?
In theory....
Plug in the external drive, run the installer but install it to the E: drive. It will not affect it while it is disconnected but it WILL keep the registry and config files pointing to the correct place. It is also possible to mount an NTFS drive in a folder so it appears in the rest of your system folders but try the first suggestion. If you want more help with an NTFS solution then email me.
If you turn the sliders to full research you can focus on production on the presumably few planets where you are needing actual production. Or turn the spend rate down a bit and buy everything outright. You still need factories for when you need to upgrade buildings or expand your military but the best bet is to keep cranking out constructors.
It's a Direct3D issue by the looks of it. Try going into the display settings for the ATI adapter by right clicking on the desktop and setting the preferred 3D mode to openGL. And try reinstalling DirectX.
If you go for pop you will also get an influence boost, and if you drop your taxes for the first few turns you get more people faster who can then pay taxes later on buy their morale buildings which then further increases their happiness allowing a higher tax rate so you can buy more... etc
I have played games where I am on the poor end of the ratio. Often against the Dread Lords I will grant but a few times in proper games
There has been quite some debate about that one. Personally I seem to find myself researching to the point that I have WAY more available routes than I can be bothered to use - I have a HUGE economy already - so I tend to go from my capital/most populous planet to all the other civs' capitals whatever the distance and then covering as much as I easily can with Eco bases. Gets a decent balance I find.
Toning down your font might be an idea as well... Your post is barely legible.
I think you offer him exactly $1 less than his domain hosting fees for the next 9 years Still an impressive amount for doing nothing at all but amusing.
