Neutrality Learning Centers... OH the Pain!

I was hoping that this would get addressed in 1.1 even though I never saw it fixed in the betas... But Unlike virtually every other form of building upgrade, Neutrality Learning Centers DO NOT automatically queue up to be upgraded after you research them. This means that you get to go through the tediously long process of manually upgrading all your research centers, If you've got an empire with 88 Colonies like the game I'm currently playing this can literally take 30 minutes or more. Hopefully this will be addressed soon.

This has been discussed in a number of other threads. There is a good reason why it was done like this. But I'm eating pizza and I don't want to type it all out 1 handed.

It has also been stated repeatedly on how to change it so they do. (I still havent seen the 'good reason' as i've been playing the game with it modded so they upgrade and i have seen absolutely no problems with it..

If you try to fix the upgrade path don't forget to stop the other upgrade paths or you run into a real conflict when the tile tries to upgrade to both the invention matrix and nlc at the same time. That is probably why it was done that way in the first place. They are two different branches.

Actually it is VERY easy to get it to replace all existing structures... all you have to do is add this line to "PlanetImprovements.xml" within your NLC entry:

"{S_UpgradeTarget}Discovery Sphere{/S_UpgradeTarget}"

replacing "{" with "<" and "}" with ">".

This will allow you and the AI to automatically upgrade any research building into NCLs once you have researched it. Unfortunatelly this is a mod so you can't play on the metaverse with it.

The fact that they are two different branches doesn't affect anything, if you set them to upgrade discovery spheres they upgrade any other research building and this gets over the problem of conflict. You simply make the learning center the top of the chain.
