I was just wondering if the AI in anyone's game had ever won by completing a victory condition.

Yes, if you play a hard enough level and get in over your head. Assuming of coarse you don't realise you're beaten first and start a new game.

Oddly, the Thalans and the Drengin both researched Technology Victory in my game (I know due to espionage), yet the game did not end.

Were the examples cited here an AI win or a player loss? IE if it was a military victory were you the only other player left and the AI beat you?

Once I had the Altarians defeat me culturally. It was just me and them left, I was 3 turns away from a technology victory when they beat me.

no, if the ai wins, you lose, no matter what if its a win for them, ultimately its a loss for you.

Yes. But that's a player loss.

There is no AI win, as everyone is saying. Just you losing. And yes, I've lost a cultural war.

On my second suicidal game I got an early tech victory. Then I loaded previous turn, shut down my research and proceeded to try to win culturally (which I have yet to do on Sui level)).

I was slowly assimilating the huge Korx Empire when BAM! I stole "Technological Victory" from them in Espionage.

Thanks for the intelligent response, and just to be clear, I know that's a player loss, I wanted to know if it could beat you other than millitarily, and my question was answered.

So then it would seem that the AI cannot win via technology victory (did you win the game upon stealing this tech from the Korx? That would really be wrong).

I'm pretty sure I had the AI win a cultural victory in one of my games, but I could well be mistaken.
