OK, I haven't been keeping up, but did they take out custom race creation? I see that you can modify existing races but it'd be nice if I could go back to my own custom creation. I guess the new tech trees make that a little difficult, huh? Is it going back in? Secondly, I love love love the ship designer, especially now that it's animated and I can put spinny concentric circle things on all my ships, but I do have a gripe (other than the coolest base hull being the Iconian cargo shi

Pre-ordered. Though I must say part of me is a little disappointed they're already pushing another expansion when Dark Avatar still needs some tweaks, particularly with the new ship pieces. Many of them have misaligned hard points, don't attach symmetrically, or could simply use more hard points.

I pre-ordered through Totalgaming.net, using tokens, on September 7th. I'm sure Totalgaming KNOWS I've pre-ordered as if I go to purchase Dark Avatar again it tells me I've already purchased that item, yet Stardock doesn't seem to recognize that I've already ordered it and I haven't received any information on where to get the beta.

I really don't mean to complain, but I think I've mentioned this every patch and it still hasn't been addressed. The model for the Terran basic constructor is screwed up. The big engine "arm" parts aren't congruent with the rest of the ship. There are also a number of asymmetrical hardpoints throughout the models. There's nothing worse than having a great idea for a ship, only to see it thwarted because a difference of a single degree or pixel becomes glaringly obvious if you extend

Click on the pic and it'll take you to ImageShack. Sometimes you can refresh THAT page to get a slightly larger view of it. If it's still not clear I'll take another and won't shrink it any (was trying to save bandwidth).

I seem to recall at some point people were looking for evidence that 700% Research squares were showing up in games. Here's the one I encountered tonight. EDIT: BTW, the Insert Link/Insert Pic buttons here don't seem to work right.

Charging to add what is a standrard feature nowadays is an insult to customers And THAT is an insulting and ignorant statement. Most games have things like multiplayer standard because they have enormous budgets and huge backing by multinational corporations. Stardock has produced an excellent product, independently. How dare you crit

I'd like to see more flexibility in ship design and type... if that's possible. Basic stuff like new hulls and jewelry, but also new capabilities, like cloaking, maybe some sort of area effect like stations, larger capital-ship-only weapons, rotating turret-like hardpoints, etc. But I think my biggest priority is getting all the hardpoints in the game to line up how they should. There's nothin

By the way, if you think it sounds like a disaster just by reading the boards, keep in mind that the people that are unsatisfied are often the most vocal. People that are happy have no complaints, or better yet, don't come to the site because they're too busy playing!

Multiplayer isn't such a huge deal to me. When you say Multiplayer-only, I interpret that as meaning the game is otherwise unchanged; it's essentially version 1.1, but with multiplayer. No new hulls, no new features, no new technologies, etc. That would not be worth $20 to me. I know how labor-intensive multiplayer can be. I'd really prefer you guys dedicate your time toward delivering the best single-player experience possible. <

I would absolutely love some sort of ship pack, but I'd have to see how much $9 would buy me. Would it be just hulls, or also jewelry? How many? If it doubled the number already in, that'd definitely be worth $9 to me. It'd be really cool if the pack could add some stuff currently not possible in the game, like animated/moving parts on ships, like rotating radar dishes or even tracking turrets (and maybe some AI so the ships would know they don't have to be facing their opponent to fire on t

This only happened once. When I picked one of the smaller (either small or tiny) Terran hulls in the ship designer it showed up textured, but in what appeared to be default gray colors. Clearing and re-selecting the hull brought it back with the proper colors I'd selected (red and black).

I get this too. You just have to be patient. The image will return eventually but it takes a little while.

I've got this bug too. I've conquered about 50 planets by influence but I've only ever actively invaded one (and invading that one ended the game since it eliminated the only race with whom I was not allied).

When playing with a custom race I took a close look at the default Constructor unit (Human-style ships) and noticed the big "engine" jewelry parts on either side were a few degrees rotated around the x axis (assuming the x-axis enters the front of the ship and exits the rear). It's so minor you won't notice unless you look at the ship in the shipyard but it's fairly easy to see there. </fo

So I thought I was doing pretty good till I notice my enemies have tiny ships that deal over 80 beam damage... yippie! I'm allied with the strongest of the two remaining but then the third gets that stupid "assassination" event and goes to war with my ally. My ally tells me I need to help them out, or the alliance is off. Now, our new enemy is insanely stronger than I am. My best ships couldn't hold a candle to their escort fleets. But I figure, I

I'm happy to see this got fixed in Beta 3. I feel like I've contributed! Yeah, I know I'm almost certainly not the only one to find and note this problem but let me enjoy my small victory dammit!

Typically, I only build up a military when I need it. I keep my coffers very full and my designs up to date so when an enemy challenges me it takes me just a few weeks to draw up a good-sized fleet with the best technology available, usually more than enough to pummel my would-be conquerors into submission. However, once I have all these ships they're taking up a huge portion of my income in their upkeep and if I decommission them I only get pennies

It seems if you repeatedly start and restart War of the Gods games (I was checking out each race's ship designs) the game will eventually go to a screen that looks kind of like the in-game screen, but all black with a partially blacked-out ship highlight view. You need to Quit to get out of it and if you click to end your turn it causes a crash to desktop. Also, at one point late in a normal game, turns stopped progressing. At first my tur

All I have to say so far is this... There are real-world cruise missiles that travel at speeds of mach 5. There is no time for visual confirmation of any sort, unless your FCS locks on to it through other targetting methods. A phalanx or other point defense gun essentially works by producing a wall of bullets for it to run into. Some other types of missiles can be guided after launch or are simply given their target and are programmed to

While playing last night I realized that this game was totally missing some of the touchstones of modern combat. First off, in modern warfare the best strike is one that your enemy can't see till it's too late, and then is gone. The greatest representation of this is the ballistic submarine, which can appear out of nowhere, launch a huge amount of devestation, and then vanish. Another example would be the cruise missile. While a
