I never escort my troop transports, and they rarely move faster than 8-10 pc/wk. Most of ny troop transports consist of a tiny hull with a single advanced troop mod. The thought behind this is that a tiny hull is cheaper than a cargo hull, so the ship would be cheaper. It ends up not being cheaper, but I do like the tiny hulls more than cargo hulls. They have more than one HP, thus if you choose to add a weapon, and fly them in small packs, then they can escort themselves, atleast again

I suppose Kryo already confirmed this, but I couldn't use portraits or logos either.
Stargates of the GalCiv flavor move ships at 1 PC/wk. Which makes 'em a bit useless...
"Korxscrew"... brilliant. I name my ships like "SCB-1B Scarab" and then the next generation would be "SCB-1C Scarab". Or the "MLR-3K Mauler" and then "MLR-4K Mauler"... etc. Or sometimes I'll just be lazy and end up with the "lawlzscoutcube ftw!" which is just a square with some engines...
I'm not sure it's too much. The whole feel of DA is that ships are much, much slower. Engines are larger and more expensive, granted these numbers are just placeholders and will be adjusted, but...
One thing I noticed was that with races I customized before updating (like say, I gave the Terrans +30% HP), after updating, they still had that +30% HP, which cost me 3 points before the update, but now it was innate and free, and could also be stacked with another +30% HP, for a total of +60%.
I have experienced the same thing as moral55. I finished my first game with a plague mega event, won easily a game that I otherwise would have had some difficulty with. The next two games I played until I got the damn plague again both times, quitting shortly after. I have snice been playing with Mega Events off, as that really ruins any challenge for the game. Using very slow tech setting, by the way.
IIRC each AI ship classification only uses a particular hull size. Well, yes... that's kinda what I figured. But that would mean the AI don't use tiny hulls? Ever?
I can't seem to add tiny-hulled templates to a custom ship style. All the attack ships, fighters, and heavy fighters just offer my small-hulled templates. Is this by design? Some minor bug? The rest of the style customization seems to work well, and looks great... well, once I got all my ships transferred over to DA that is.
I didn't notice it on the research list, but found it easily on the tech tree screen. The AI took forever to research it... (it actually looks like they never have, they almost all have very minimal amounts of population.)
Yeah, but you can't see what it's building...
Brad! Please, I beg and implore you. Fix whatever happened to the ship design screen. It constantly changes zoom on it's own whenever I add a component that extends the ship beyond what is on-screen. And whenever I rotate the component, the zoom changes again to adjust to the new shape of the ship. Please, put it back to how it was before Dark Avatar, it worked fine there. This is driving me insane.
The combat system has been rewritten. It is now based on weapon instead of ship. That means a given ship could strike N opponents where N is the # of weapons on the ship. Logistics and cost of larger ships have been adjusted to keep fleets of small ships viable. Wow! Not sure what else to say... sounds great!
I care as well. Stop acting like a troll. Anyway, most people don't know that those images are false colored, and that's generally what people tend to think space looks like, so I can't really fault them for making it that way...
Erectile Dysfunction commercials. Baseball? Sex? Baseball? Sex? It's limp! GO WATCH BASEBALL!
Purple stars mean there is a PQ 20 or higher in orbit. Yellow stars may have habitable planets, other color stars (almost) never have habitable planets.
You can have two, and they both work...
Er, don't railguns require a significant amount of energy to fire?
I doubt it would be used much. I would love to be able to change the colors of individual extras though.
The thing about Minors is, the more cramped the map is, the less minors you get. If you play a gigantic map with scattered planets, you're going to get a *lot* of minors. If you try sticking all 10 races on a large galaxy, there isn't going to be much room for minors. How you set up you galaxy makes an amazing difference on your gaming experience.
!!! !!! And I thought they were just space cockroaches! This changes everything!!!
3D maps are terrible! Booooooo... I want to spend my time playing, not trying to figure out where the hell in the galaxy my planets are. The fluff hypergates move vessels at one pc/wk, thus making them terribly slow...
Consider having multiple types of constructors. One for your Capital Ship planets, and one for your Transport planets. Make them exactly the same, just give them a different name. Then you can order all planets making Capital Ship Constructors to make your capital ships, and all your planets making Transport Constructors to make transports. And revert that when the war is over.
If I remember correctly, GC3 will not have a 3 dimensional map. After playing Sword of the Stars, I must admit that I am very pleased to hear that.
It applies only to weapons and defense. Having a planet that makes ships that are 50% stronger than all your other ships can be *very!* nice.
