GC2Builder is going to add a script based map generator. If you have any experience creating or working with map scripts, please read http://www.gc2builder.com/viewtopic.php?t=116 and post your comments/suggestions
Victory for the consumers! Looks like some companies still care like Stardock does
One of the users on http://www.gc2builder.com created a map from the stars close to earth. Check out the details http://www.gc2builder.com/viewtopic.php?t=115 You need to register to have access to downloads other than the map editor. There will be more and more exclusive content on the site as time goes by, so might as well register
GC2Builder http://www.gc2builder.com/ It'll let you make maps with all known options available for them. I think the scenario editor is mostly working, though a few parts still need to be updated when information is known and tested (see http://www.gc2builder.com/viewtopic.php?t=30 ) It's planned to support all data modding you can do to Galciv2. Another project is planned for packaging and handling mods.
thanks, that really clears up how sizemod works
InsideGC2 is back? Nice!
this is what one of my tech's looks like Governments, not Techs
Thats legit. 4 / sector is new rule. So they removed the within 3 parsec of another starbase limit?
Defense roll would be from 0 to 10 so it could get hit.
That's really really weird because hardpoints are part of the model itself. What version are you using?
v1.1 is coming up. Lets get some more ideas on here so it'll be ready for v1.2 beta which will be adding a lot of modding features.
This feature doesn't make sense to me either (it's listed as a tactic for terrans in the beta release notes). Even if the planet is guarded by a ship with 5000 defense, a ship with 1 attack will eventually destroy it.
In the near future, any game using Direct3D 10 will probably require driver updates. Microsoft is redoing the way it works, and I don't think it'll be backwards compatible. It's a good thing that Stardock doesn't plan to support Windows 98 in any more game, but now they need to consider support for XP as Vista is just around the corner.
Empties renamed to dummy## worked for me, though BoogieBac said in your post on hardpoints ( https://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?ForumID=348&AID=112444 ) that renaming isn't needed. I'm now able to get the models to show ingame, but the textures don't show. If i try to add the model ingame without exports it with textures the game crashes. Not sure what I'm doing wrong because it shows with textures when I load the .X in the directx viewer (from
Yes, but that's only 30 days. Blender is very easy and free
Anyone using Blender?
Also, as far as naming goes, thy don't even need to be called "Dummy"... Empty didn't work to show the hardpoint without it being named Dummy when i tried it, but I could have done something wrong. Any news on Mormegil's tutorial?
Also, how do you plan for what size the model will be in the game?
I'm happy to say that the forums have gotten a lot better! Great job guys. There are still a few quirks lurking around, but it's by far very improved.
Yes, just add more requirement tags
My first attempt to get a model into the game using blender failed with the game crashing. I've since installing python and got a new export script for directx. I'm completely new to blender, but it seems really easy to use. What settings do I need to use to get things to work properly? I got the model ingame once (by luck), but it didn't have any textures. Also, how would you make it so certain areas use the players chosen colors (like for engine, hu
try to add a cube, make it invisible and name it dummy01, dummy02 etc. Using Blender the dummy naming thing works for hardpoints, though I used an empty instead of a cube. Not sure how to adjust the orientation of the hardpoint, but it's probably something simple (i'm a complete beginner).
ware can i download it http://www.gc2builder.com
I put a screenshot of what it looks like here. http://www.gc2builder.com/viewtopic.php?t=90
