I have virtually the exact same problem (just the number for the negative tech are different). I had the original game and bought the 2 expansions. I've been playing the DL campain from the TA program....
BinnisterGC2
Heh.. I'm not trying to seduce anyone....when have FLAMERS had any basis in reality? I was strickly venting my spleen about a perceived 'hidden adgenda' (I think I'm better now ) Good point about the $10 extra game cost vs $20 optional expansion (I admit, I didn't think of it that way). I think it comes down to this: Years ago, I got Masters of Orion 2 and I loved it
Feel free to mock me (It is a 'FLAME' post, after all). You'll excuse me if I'd like to play with real people, rather than 'play with myself' or with AI blowup dolls.
Stardock obviously wants to do a jewlery pack, so it presents it in the most pleasing form possible ($8.95 instead of $9). When GC2 originally was released, they indicated that omitting Multiplayer shaved approximately $10 from the price....and yet when the poll was done on MP, they asked if people would be willing to pay $20 (not $19.95 or $9.95) for the expansion. And now, Since (slightly) over 50% of the current number of people playing this game like extras
Hotseat / LAN I list this as seperate from 'Multiplayer' because mulitplayer has taken on a different meaning in the world today. If you don't want to do an EXCELLENT MP expansion (because, a year down the line, only a flawless implementation would have a hope of making a dent in the MP community), then at least make it possible for players to take on their immediate family and friends. Heck, you wouldn't even need to 'balance' multiplayer. I can't see this bein
What would be cool is to instead have the Game detect the CPU/System specs and scale up its options so that the faster the PC, Um...I don't mind longer turn times...really I don't. .....an even greater incentiv
Or better yet, upgrading every time they get a new ship component. Do you change ship designs everytime you get a 'new' component? (Well, I suppose I can only speak for myself) Sure, It WOULD be great, but not at the expense of game play (if it is as CPU intensive as Frogboy says) I would just rather that it chang
But I only allow the AI to design ships once per year right now. Oh my god. This explains a lot. My reaction exactly. Civilizations can be wiped out in well under a year. And what happens to the Civ when faced with 2 opposers using different weapon technology, especially if they declare war at different times (but
Question: Will the Drengin *always* be agressive? Therefore, will they ALWAYS be the civ everyone gangs up on?
RE: Multiplayer I have no love for cheaters, droppers, or general Asshats.....but I do like multiplayer. I appreciate that you (Frogboy) have a personal bias towards what would acceptible/unacceptible in a multiplayer experience, and I can see that you are open to exploring options to implement it in GC2. I do understand that, from a developer/publish point of view, MP can be a pain. But, some of us do like it (and are willing to pay for it). EDIT: Re
I wouldn't feel very happy buying a 'Ship Pack' for $9 (But, I'd probably end up buying it anyway, because I do love the game so). I'm not really into senarios (didn't really enjoy Dreadlords that much). I guess I'm one of the people who wouldn't mind seeing multiplayer (even if it were just a 'full' implementation of Hot Seat).
I only ever make '1 troop module' transports (500 troops). I then 'soften' up the planet with mass drivers, and take it with traditional warefare when I'm in a position to do so. Though it really hurts when you get 'lucky' and take a planet with mass drivers (Triple whammy: Low Pop, big chuck of improvments gone AND lower PQ).
Honestly, if I have to play defense, I'd rather have my ships off-planet in a real fleet, backed by assist modules (Battlestation). Why waste a precious tile for something that gives a dubious benefit?
Wow! The Farming Tech has been fixed!! .... .... .... ... What will I complain about now? (I feel so *empty*)
This is a personal pet-peeve of mine. This is strickly a XML fix. Unless there is a MAJOR balance issue (too much food=too much pop), then this should be an INSTANT fix for the Stardock crew.
But in every case, that race ends up just sort of fading away. Never had that event myself, but do all the other races gang up on them as well? If so, while you're standing and watching on the sidelines, the other races are taking care of the genocide for you <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2
Knows where the good planets are -Knows where the good planets are as well Really? You have proof to refute the MASSIVE amount of evidence that Frogboy has presented on these boards? You're saying that Frogboy is lying when he says that AI's need to scout planets first? Or are you just making an uninformed, general stat
I don't know where a primer would be (maybe the wiki?) but here are a few things to remember: 1) Try to have a starport on every plantet you own - as you've noted, there may be times you don't have any buildings to construct & you don't want that production to go to waste. Though you can play with the sliders, the easiest way to utilize it is through a spaceport (you need constructors!
I don't really need to get any constructors out there yet You ALWAYS need more constructors.....always! You may think you don't need a constructor, but you're wrong. Uses for constructors: * Building resource starbases * Building economic starbases * Building resource/economic add-ons * Building
As near as I can tell, what they allow me to do is to build and upgrade my buildings faster, and build ships faster Bingo. Manufacturing Captials are important because they 1) let you build buildings/ships even faster , and/or 2) let you have fewer factories on a planet (allowing for
Bottom line: Having fast ships is so important because the 'speed' of ship not only determins the number of spaces you can go, but also the number of attacks you can make . This kind of system works pretty well for GC2, but it does tend to over-emphesize the importance of having the biggest & best engines. Personally, I'd like to see a seperation between how fast a ship can go and how many times it can attack in a ro

double post
What type of file is that..? It just called GC2 and has no extention. What application should one use when opening this file? Well...the one downloadable file is a .zip file. There are then 3 .pdf files (Adobe Acrobat) files that you can print out.
Re: Tech Tree I made a Tech Tree that outlines the research costs and 'benefits' of each tech. The link below downloads it, but you can also go to the 'Library' (little ways down). Link I haven't done the Weapon/Defense side of the Tree, but I think I will finish
