You can copy the beta to any machine you own...... But how, exactly, do you do that? The new Beta is not in the 'Downloads' section, and when I used Stardock Central to get the beta, it just downloaded it and ran it (didn't save it on the computer anywhere, as I did a search for it after). Do you use the "Download and Archive" optio

Don't see "Neutrality Learning Centers" fix in that list.... Don't see a "Intenstive/Advanced Farming" fix in that list....
Hopefully Dev's are still monitoring this..... Glitches ** Neutrality Learning Center - Still doesn't show up when researched. ** Intensive Farming vs. Advanced Farming - both still provide 8mt/wk (eventhough one is an upgrade of the other) ** Battlestations III / Battlestations IV - the description of what these modules provide is different from what they actually do ( i.e BS III says " +4 mass/miss/laser", but it actually gives +8...
Re: Unguarded Transports Guarding them in case of war is going to be DOUBLY more important in 1.1, as the growth rate will make replacing those transports prohibitive.
The problem is doubled if you use mass drivers/tidal disruption/etc. Which makes those techonologies only useful if you want to annihilate another race rather than simply stealing their planets. Then do what I do. Split up your invaders , having only 500k or 1000k soldiers attack at a ti
MysticX: You know that they added a new option to 1.1 where you can hide the influence spheres until you make contact? 4) Once a ship was launched into hyper space, you could not turn it around until it reached its destination... God, I *hated* that!
but please, no more nerfing without options bah! This is whining at its finest. You have to change a sure-fire-win-every-game-strategy? Cry me a river.
BUT WHERE IS THE NEUTRAL ALIGNMENT FIXES? Please tell me that neutral isn't just going to be left in its current state... Neutrality Learning Centers... don't work. Neutral Trade... Does this actually work? It didn't seem to when I tried it... Weapons/Armor? Not that I can tell...
One of the big changes in 1.1 for Influence strategies is that you no longer have to all the way up the line with the piddly influence modules. If you get Cultural Domination, you can start with the big modules right away now which makes it a lot cheaper to do this strategy and a lot less tedious. So,
But realistically, I find the game lacking without tech trading. I've spent a week playing with it and without trading tech, you really lose something. Yeah, you lose a crutch....one that basically insures that you are never poor during the game There have been COUNTLESS suggestions on the forums (some even in post #18 of this thre
Suggestions: -Ease up on the difficulty level. -After initial expansion, don't make any ships EXCEPT fast, cheap 1 damage interceptors (to take out incoming troop trannies). -Keep on teching to Planetary Invasion. -If the DL's take a planet near you (or from you), GREAT! Just start pumpin out your own troop trannies and take it back. This way, you are more likely to acquire an advanced tech that will level the playing field.<
Re: Tech Trading. Further on this, though I am exicted about this option, I would like to see an 'in-between' option (rather than all or nothing). As has been noted in other threads (and even this one), some suggestions could be: 1) Allowing you to trade only the tech your empire has researched (you'd still be able to get tech from other civ's, you'd just not be able to turn around and trade it to other AI's). This wo
What is the gameplay arguement for no tech-trading option? There is a big thread in the Main forums...something like "Unlimited Tech Trading breaks 4X games". In a nutshell, the type of tech trading in GC2 makes it too easy (for some players). Once you research a tech, you can turn around
I've been duped! .
If the Developers are going to leave this 'feature' in, there needs to be 'Consequences' tm. Either spontaneous decommission (repo men? ), or diplomatic hit, or restrictions on spending (I believe that you can continue to deficit spend over the 2000bc limit, making you have basically free stuff). Perhaps the ablity to do this should be turn
One of the most power tools in the game is the upgraded Battlestation (esp. the 'Starbase Assist' modules). So far, I have yet to see the AI make proper (and effective) use of this asset.
It was a good strategy game, but i am sorely regretting i bought it now. Chess was the best strategy game I have ever played, you have a long way to go, but keep up the good work.
The issue isn't so much the need for extra engines but better engine technology sot hat the engines aren't so big. That's what I'm going to be testing. No, I'd have to say the problem is priority . As mentioned, heavy hitters are fine when you are going after 'static' objectives. Speed is what enables you to attack fi
-- updated video drivers --> check -- anti-alising off --> check -- 128MB Video Card (nVidia Geforce FX 5200) --> check Everything else seems to run really well and there have been no crashes.....any idea how I can get the video to stop stuttering?
I think the only thing now that you would be SOL for is getting an actual poster of the Tech Tree in the CE version. (But, you can now download that too). EDIT: Oh! And a box. You get a spify looking box with CE.
And finally, elections are twice a year, so you can easily adjust the tax rate the turn before the election and you get a nice result... no need to keep approval up. True, but very, very sad. This is more of a bug than a feature. It would make sense if the morale rating had some 'weig
In this case, I think it was a good idea that you held off on the demo. What kind of reviews would you gotten if the whole 'Overheating-video-card' and 'Must-have-updated-video-drivers' problems hadn't been fleshed out?
Re: Starbases I think Starbases should stay defensive.....or why would you bother making starships at all? If Starbases had an 'attack range', it would be similar to the problem that Age of Kings had, where you could just up and build a Castle or Town Center right on top of you enemy and criple them, without even using a single offensive unit.
Date=7/28/2003 That's a problem. You really do need to update the driver (if an update even EXISTS for that other card). Also, eventhough your system has DirectX9.0c, there's no guarentee that your video card is compatible. Unfortunately, it seriously looks like you need a new
I do like the current system. If the AI is taught the value of attacking first & how to utilize speed (engines), it would be a very balanced system. However, here's an idea that would lead to more strategic decisions: How about a (very) high level Starbase Module (Battlestation only) that allows all the friendly ships/fleets in its influence to ALWAYS have the first attack (whether they initiated the combat or not). If the enemy were to also have such a Starbase/Module in
