System Shock 2 was pretty good at scaring the bajeebas out of me. Oh, and the Longest Journey 2 was quite creepy in a number of places at the start of the game.
Justas5
UP could have been such a great addition to the game... At the moment it's quite dull an shallow.
The original post is spot on. What I dont find amusing is that once Frogboy mentioned that the only way to beat AI at high levels is by exploiting, alot of fanatical fanboys just caught this as their bloody mantra on the forum. A pretty low point that was by Frogboy, though - exploiting the only way to beat your AI at high levels? The hell? That's just having too high an opinion about your computer intelligence code... Seriously though, this game's AI was so hyped . Indeed, it w
Oh, and another thing - never have I payed tribute to any race... And what happens? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It's not like they ever declare war on me right away for that.
Got the same problem on crippling difficulty... Usually large map, tight clusters, not too many stars but some planets and common habitable ones. 5-6 opponents. Getting war declared on me? Now that's tough. Even if I *do* get some super aggressive race to declare on me when I'm still undefended, I've yet to see them attack me *fast*. It takes ages for the AI to send a fleet and transports, I can usually respond very easily to a war declaration. But usually I just take my time until I'm ready, ge
You don't find those difficulty levels, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out that if he says he's playing genius, that he means computer players set on genius. And that would mean he's playing at crippling level, in case you were wondering Thank you, that is indeed what I meant. It's probably true that AIs being nearly impossible
The usage of sliders is easy to figure out, even babies could do it. What's slightly annoying is that their still somewhat unresponsive to dragging, even after Stardock fixed that somewhat in one of the first patches.
What I've noticed after 1.10 patch is that bribing an AI to attack another civilization seems to be impossible. You can offer 20 technologies and 20k cash but still they refuse, even if the victim is a weaker race. What gives? It used to be so cool orchestrating wars in the universe. Ever since 1.10 patch there's *never* been a single time in all my games that the AI would bribe somebody to attack me and I haven't managed to get anybody to attack either. Any chance the next patch could balance t
they're exploiting their way through. Ridiculous statement. Plenty of people beat the game at very high AI levels without "exploiting their way through". Saying that is just bloody ignorant, or trolling.
4-5 seems enough in general.
Focus more on the diplomacy aspect.
Is there some sort of a button that I am missing to upgrade an entire stack or fleet of ships at once? Or perhaps a keyboard shortcut?
I'm sorry if this has caused any confusion, I certainly don't want to provoke an "economy always running in the red!" kind of thing in 1.2. No confusion, this has been one heck of a topic by you that Stardock should definetly take into account for the next patch.
I found the MOST FRIGHTENING RACE in the galaxy. Its me! You're Michael J?
You're being ignorant, my friend. I dont play below bright.
The first beta of the 1.1 patch had the tech trading nailed down pretty well, I believe. Now it's just horrendous.
It would be great if one could select which ship designs will cross to the next game and which will not.
I like it, just have to find my even ground again and go from there. Gona start at tough and see what i can do. Yes, it just takes time to get used to it, is all.
In the last two games the AI would often just blatantly go and upgrade it's ships in MY territory while AT WAR with me. Come on, I'm playong on Bright. That's just cheesy. I see a strong Drengin fleet move near one of my fringe planets, it could cause some havoc and then!... The Drengin decide to upgrade the entire fleet just like that... And my weaker fleet would make easy work of them then. Possible solution? Perhaps allow the AI to make upgrades only at a certain (short) range fro
Very very good post with some great responses. I second most of what the original poster pointed out, as well as what others said. What I would like to add is that tech trading should be more dependant upon good relations. On Neutral, AI shouldn't be willing to to supply you with -any- military related technology, such as weapons or armor -or- logistics. That should atleast limit some early tech trading mania. Also, perhaps have higher "rates" for technology when it comes
It doesnt seem so. 1.1 was supposed to make the AI more picky on what techs it trades, right? Well, it works when you're trying to get one or two techs. But it utterly fails when you trade in "bulk". AI really does want extremely good deals when you're trying to get a single decent tech out of them, that's an improvement. But just and exchange 8 techs for 10 and voila, you've just got the computer opponents to trade everything to you. So my suggestion? Make the AI hold on
I had the same problem, with no tech trading the AI would totaly outresearch me. So then I just followed what they research and when (via espionage). Basicaly, they focus ALOT on technologies that upgrade your planets, such as better industrial sectors or improved research labs. They get those things upgraded nearly to the max -ASAP- and then they just rocket past you with production and research capability. So you just gotta keep your planets steadily upgraded with the latest techs and voila, y
Right, thanks for the info. That's one feature for the next patch that needs to be added
Simply put, how? How do I break an alliance with a minor race? There's no break alliance button and I dont see any options to do it in the diplomacy screen.
