I'm sure it's been asked before but I'd like a clarification again, if possible. Do your economy starbases give you any income for other civilization's trade routes passing through their ring of influence?
On normal research, the tech tree really seems to just fly by... But if you set it on slow (not even very slow), it hits the wall pretty soon and you're able to finish the game on large or bigger maps without even going beyond Laser V or before large ships are researched. Doesn't seem too balanced. I want research to be meaningful but without hitting walls after 1/3 of the tech three.
Just try to do as much tech trading as possible all the time. Keep your spending slider to 100% all the time, even if you're getting -200 bcs per turn. Just make sure you sell techs all the time to keep the budget up until you can establish good economy and trading routes. Works well for me.
I was hoping for a better campagin. Like a gigantic map with alot of scripted triggers or the like. Right now it's just tedious. So I just play sandbox mode instead
One of the things I've always enjoyed in turn based strategy games like Civs, Moo and Alpha Centauri is alliances. Or "blocks". There usually comes a point in those games where you have a couple of allies, another strong civilization has gathered some and then all hell breaks loss and it becomes one team versus another. One block against another. That's really really fun, trying to get stronger civs to join your block before they join the opposing one
It would definetly be nice to see the AI place more speed on their fighters. After the recent patch they upgrade their colony ships, freighters and transports a LITTLE bit. But the fighters are usually 2-3 speed at Intelligent and above.
Good post. Just want to say the current economic system is fine. I dont see why some people whine about the sliders, they're quite simple and clear... Please dont change this. It's fine as it is. But social production? Now those changes I'd like to see!
This "feature" is annoying, should be optional.
It would be very interesting to have a deeper alignment system in-game. For example, extorting weaker races and refusing to help would make you more evil, while freely handing out techs and the like would move you towards good. Generaly, your everyday (every turn? ) actions should reflect more on your alignment.
Game crashes to desktop randomly when loading a save game. Sometimes it crashes on the same saved game, sometimes it doesn't. Usually the first time I load a saved game, it's fine. If I try to load it again during play, then it usually crashes. Nope, I started the current game after installing the new patch. Oh, and the other saved game that had crashes related to it was started after I downloaded the "un-finalised" 1.0X on weekend, I think. And thanks for the link, I'll post the debugger info there.
I'm getting random crashes when loading any save game. Sometimes it loads fine, sometimes it just crashes. This started after the new patch...
What does the - "I know what you're doing..." mean then? Usually I'm not really doing anything special about that race. No inlfuence starbases, no massing next to their border...
So if AI knows you're trying to buy their friendship, what the hell can you do?
Second game in a row this happens to me and bloody RUINS the game. I conquer an enemy planet and guess what happens? My approval rating drops to ONE percent, my income rises to about 32000 per turn and my influence spans the WHOLE galaxy. This usually goes for a number of turns until a revolution happens inside my empire and some planets split of. In the proccess I'm joined by random computer planets due to my influence and I end up being ridiculously
You guys are simply great. Good job.
This problem usually starts after you load a saved game. When you select a colony and bring up the ship building menu, you get alot of old deleted models. Once I even had such an outdated model *stuck* in production and couldn't change it to anything else, the planet just infinetly built the same ship over and over no matter what. Let me give some more details of that situation in case I didn't make much sense <img src="smiles/Smile.gif" bo
I'd love daily AI updates too, actually. Keeps the game fresh
Did the game become harder after the newest patch or what? Having played and done quite well against 7 Gifted opponents, I now constantly struggle... On research and economic ends mostly. This is a good thing, definetly, but far as I saw it didn't say in the changes "made AI alot better"
You cant attack a planet with ships. Planet Bombardment gives you the options of what attack to chose when landing your troops, for example MassDrivers, Core Detonation, Information Warfare and such.
