Even though this topic that criticizes grammar has a typo in the title, I'm still going to say my opinion on this matter In my opinion the texts in the game are very often lame. I for one like to have a bit of "roleplaying" flavor in my strategy games, and the sometimes idiotic replies from other races in diplomacy really ruin the "atmosphere" or "moo

If there is such a feature, please enlighten me. There's a way to see what the AI is currently researching but with Tech Trading disabled, it would be mighty useful to be able to check what kind of technologies the AI currently has that you dont. This could be nicely tied in with spying, as this info could become available only at High/Advanced levels.
Planet scanning to know their tiles + class would be great.
"4) The Research and Social timetables are still screwed up. Research will very clearly say, "1 turn till it's researched," and you hit end turn, and it's not researched. Likewise, it'll say "2 turns" and come out the next turn." I had that happen to me ALOT.
Been having similar problems. I want my home star to have -one- planet named Orion... Does it work? NoOOoo. It's like CustomPlanets is dully ignored by the game.
It should be more like a Super Project for evil races. Too bad it's not in the game yet though
Simple question, are those in the game? I've been looking at UPIssues xml file and there's the "dormant" issues to ban Terror Stars from being used. Was wondering, are Terror Stars in the game at all?
And this long-winded posted was prompted by what... A one sentence long description of a political party in a sci-fi computer game? I doubt this is the place to show off your economical knowledge. It's just a guy's personal mod to a game, not liberal propaganda that you need to squash.
Some pretty explanatory replies here, col80 hit's the nail on the head especially.
Here's the content's of the .CRA file for the CTD I reported a few posts above. Yes, always found it quite strange myself that basicaly evil robots who want to destroy civilization are actually "better" than merceneries who, although greedy, are definetly not for the demise of the galaxy.
This forum is becoming quite tiresome because of people like you, to be honest. Just play on Intelligent or above and then post your dissapointing feedback, alright? Also, Civ4 doesn't re-invent the wheel. It's just quality improvement and building upon the same concept used for years and years.
CTD during play. Simply hit the turn button and it crashes during AIs moves. Reloaded the save game, crashed again exacly on the same turn. End of the debug file shows the error quite plainly, I'd think. Bug in ship designer. You cant update old designs from previous games. Although all the components like engines and the like are visually removed and it's shown that 0 space is used, you get the message "component too large" whenever you try to place any weapon/engine/shield/module on the ship.
Keep the comic relief to a minimum.
I like the way surrendering works at the moment. Had a couple of races surrender to me when I was at war with them, 2 surrendered to my enemies and 1 surrendered to me when being killed off by another computer. All of this hapenned on a huge map when I was going for a conquest victory on Bright. So it's all good.
Actually, I dont even know what persuaded me more - the free updates or ability to download the game. I hate to wait for weeks on end for my game when I can download a "shady" copy right away. So I'm saying being able to DL the game legaly is also a very important factor.
Your biggest copy protection is really the updates you do. I can honestly say I was planning to buy a pirated version of the game because they're very easy and VERy cheap to obtain. But then I realised I wouldn't get the numerous updates that I've heard GalCiv I had. And I've really heard great stuff about that. Also, the fact that I could download the game instead of waiting for it to be shipped was awesome. Came back from work, decided to buy the gam
Dont be arses, alright? Plenty of people have crash problems WITH the right drivers and WITH the newest patch. GalCivII is a brilliant strategy game, my fav one of all time, but it was released with alot of bugs... Alot even by EA's standarts.
Wish there was a way somehow to turn up the % of random events like pirates hapenning.
So what's the use of alliances, apart for the obvious fact that it's part of the diplomatic victory? It doesn't seem like your ally automaticaly declares war on your enemies or shares technologies and the like...
And I also hoard them, unless its Micro Repair Bots . Though, I sometimes use Xanthium hull plating in my persuasions for an alliance.
I rush buy them on very rare occasions only. Usually I have a very powerful production planet that, with focus on social production, can finish the early trade goods in 6-10 turns, so there's not much need to spend billions on it.
Firstly, you cant destroy galactic wonders or trade goods. Secondly, not all galactic wonders are trade goods. Third, I'm not sure what happens if you lose the planet that built the trade good.
What I'd best love to see from Stardock is a good roleplaying game ala Baldur's Gate or Planescape Torment with immersive storyline and top-notch writting. Admittedly I'm not sure how well Stardock could handle making an RPG, as the writting in GalCivII seems to be on the weak side usually... But I'm sure these guys could pull off a good RPG in the end.
