Strange, my Logitech Mouse has 4 Buttons and Windows treats the one under the wheel as the middle button. I never use this button, I hate it and so I installed the Logitech Mouseware and defined button 4 as the middle button. Works just fine, now I can rotate in GalCiv using my prefered button and don't have to click on my wheel anymore. Nevertheless, defineable keybindings are always a good idea ...

I'm really sorry, but I had no idea if someone would be able to find this post in this "subforum", so I started the same diskcussion again in "Game Talk". Please use thw new thread for discussions, this one is dead, maybe a mod could do me a favour and close it. Sorry again for the doublepost, here is the link: Link
Sorry for the doublepost, but I first started this thread yesterday in the subforum "Ideas", but I couldn't find this subforum anywhere and bumping the post didn't make it appear in the "Recent Posts" list. So here is a copy of what I posted yesterday to /dev/null: Hi, now that auto-focus will die there is only one thing that is annoying micromanagment to me: Starbases While I dislike the ideas I read about making starbase upgrades independent of constructors, I think a gou
*bump* Strange, can someone tell me, where I find the subforum "Ideas" I posted this suggestion in?
Hi, now that auto-focus will die there is only one thing that is annoying micromanagment to me: Starbases While I dislike the ideas I read about making starbase upgrades independent of constructors, I think a gouvernor could help a lot. I would love to see such a gouvernor for it in some of the coming patches (or in the expansion pack) and because I'm no native speaker, I played around a bit with "The Gimp" and manipulated two screenshots to show how it maybe could work
I knew I had it bookmarked somewhere: Link
It's not only improving all planets you colonise, it also increases the number of upgradeable tiles on particular planets. Use the search function of this forum, there is an excellent thread about it somewhere. The PQ bonus is very valuable and it makes sense that +20% PQ costs 8 ability points
I played Baldurs Gate for a long time and NWN as well as SoU and HoU extensions several times through and through, but I couldn't find any good RPG since then out there. Most stuff turned out to be kind of DiabloII "Click 'n Slay" or had annoying character leveling like Morrorwind. I hope all the best NWN2 will give me sleepless roleplaying nights again, but I'm worrying if Bioware concentrates about eyecandy and "simplicity" to get it mainstream instead of keeping its depth and variability
If you choose neutral, you get all your planets terraformed at once (even planets you conquer later) to their highest possible PQ. That together with NLCs makes "neutral" maybe a bit overpowered, evil and its weapons is also an interesting choice and I hope, the new battle system in 1.2 will make good (and therefore armor) more valuable.
I think military rating should be a combined calculation of all these things and not just the number and strength of ships you have No, I think military rating should just rate your fleets, but the AI decisions should depend on military rating as well as industrial and economical rating. Maybe you ment the same, maybe not, but I like to see a seperat
Citizen Haasen sounds somewhat Communist to me. I vote for military ranks, like we get from Metaverse games. Hmm, then make it at least optional, because sometimes I like to feel communistic and would prefer товарищ in those situations. Most of the time, citizen sounds good anyway. Arise, the damned of the earth, Arise, prisoners of h
Recently I was wondering where all those Yor Battleships came from until my Scout found their Manufacturing Capital with a 700% Precursor Mine. So I had to give up my defensive tactics and threw all my forces into an invasion force which finally suceeded. After the Yor lost their industrial base, they had to face dozens of shiny new battlecruisers of mine.
Is there an alternative activation method? (I'm Offline or can't activate automatically): Link
Just one more thing, maybe something for your growing list, BoogieBac If one attacks a planet without fleet manager, it isn't really fun to click around several times to destroy every single ship in orbit. Would be nice, if a little pop-up could appear to ask the player, if he wants to continue his attack or stop it and move on as long as movement points or defenders in orbit are left.
I don't know if there's a way to get a new CD directly from Stardock, here in Germany you could bring the game back to the place you bought it and get a new one. If it's not a localized version, you propably won't need the CD to install the game. Just download Stardock Central from the Download Section on this page and create a Stardock Account with some valid E-Mail address. Then register GalCiv2 with the serial number on your CD within Stardock Central and you can download and insta
the NLC's never autoupgrade, its normal Sorry, but since 1.11 the autoupgrade to NLCs works just fine, it's just not working on conquered planets.
I love you and I can't wait to turn the auto-focus feature OFF! Thanks a lot Stardock, you're doing excellent work...
Losts count too much Noboy uploads lost games, why not? Because they would ruin the total score. Together with the uncounted restart ability (see above) everyone is mostly a winner. Take the lost games out of calculation, list them but don't take them for caluclation of the total score. Users would upload the lost games more than at the moment, shure there will a
Castellon at paradoxplaza made a very good races FAQ: Link As a conclusion you can see, that "the Yor and the Drath are far above average (...)" and that "(...) using a custom race is pointless, you are much better to customize an existing race." Nevertheless, this game is about having fun and most of its fun comes out of my own imagination for me, so I like to play various custom races with changing
It's a sad story. I submitted one lost game and my average score dropped, so indirectly it did also harm to my empire. Most times I finish my games, even if I'm going to loose, because it can be a lot of fun fighting to the bitter end. Unfortunately you can't send this games to metaverse to keep record of them because nobody else does. Maybe lost games shouldn't lower ones score, just record them and don't count them in ...
I still prefer the idea about blueprints. It wouldn't hurt if you capture a very advanced blueprint, but as it would only shorten the research time for one particulat tech, you would need to research the whole tree up until you can use it. To make it more interesting, one should maybe get two more blueprints of the same tree when capturing an advanced tech he is still far away from researching himself ...
No problem, just a few more trade routes and you should be able to balance this!
It also worked with Firefox 1.5 under Linux for me, but it didn't with Firefox 1.5 under Windows XP...
Well, from what I understand from that statement is that double clicking on stacked ships in the shipyard box in the planet minidisplay (I don't knnow how else to put it!) will open the planet display? That would mean I have to click the "launch" button for every ship, which would really suck?! Anyway, can't wait to try the AI improvement
Please redesign tech trading, as it is now it is annoying and I always turn it off, because the AIs trade like crazy and so every AI race has nearly the same techs. There are several ideas around the forum, just to allow selling techs you researched yourself is one good example, I also like the Idea of trading blueprints (which would be easy to combine). Second, or maybe most important, fix the auto focus behavior. I've read it's not a bug, it's a feature, so please give us an o
